I WISH EVERYONE A GLORIOUS AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR.
MAY YOUR TRIPS TO THE LAND OF MAGIC BE MANY AND MEMORABLE
HAVE A DRINK, DANCE AND KISS FOR ME YOU ZANY WILD CRAZY WL VETS. LOVE YOU.

Ratpack. I heard you honk and I could feel the air pressure drop, so I knew the Ratmobile “flew” through as I knew NASCAR was not here yet. LOL GO NOLES

Liv2CdWorld I feel your pain and frustration. I am glad you are telling it like it is as we never want to mislead anyone. “Things” can happen on any vacation to anywhere, but this seemed pretty inexcusable to me and I hope you faxed the WL Manager. They have to be made to understand the planning, anticipation and expense we go through is not to be taken lightly.
I hope the trip got better from there as I could only read the first day post. The links did not work on the following two. Looking forward to reading the rest and thanks for sharing.

WL VETS, FYI: the “street” talk is a lot of Resorts were “robbed” of people to help with the Pop Century opening, or reassigned. There is also talk of many cutbacks, so this could explain the reason WL no longer has dedicated room assigners.
This being the case, it will be extremely important to make sure you make all requests known at time of booking. Make a list of your needs and wishes, before calling, and I RECOMMEND REQUESTING A SPECIFIC ROOM BY NUMBER. We have enough information posted here so you should have no problem knowing which room you want. If I am blessed with a future trip, this will be my plan.

Right back at ya big guy! And, if you don't mind FC, I also echo the same sentiments to the rest of my WL family!!

Hope to catch up with you REALLY soon Roy! As for the trip, PD PD PD your way for a nice trip "home" sometime in the near future. ::yes::

Woo Hoo on your countdown! I'm excited for you!!

Fred - I don't think I congratulated you on your upcoming trip! Congrats!

Happy Tuesday everyone!

FloridaCat

Once again your wishes for everyone for The New Year, were heartfelt and eloquent, Thank You.

Your statement: WL VETS, FYI: the “street” talk is a lot of Resorts were “robbed” of people to help with the Pop Century opening, or reassigned. There is also talk of many cutbacks, so this could explain the reason WL no longer has dedicated room assigners.

Makes sense and it would also be a smart business move on Disney's part to make sure Pop Century had a smooth opening. We Vets know how long it has been just sitting there waiting for an opening date. I was also wondering if like most large company's senior CM employees save their vacation time and take it at the Holidays so they can be with their families.

Also Tyler aka Chip' N Dale Express our man in the purple paints is no longer driving THE BUS He is now a Pop Century Opening Team Cast Member if anyone has time pop over to his new site The All New Pop Century FAR OUT FAQ Thread! and wish him well, he is trying to answer every question and working over 70 hours a week at Pop Century. (busy, guy)

Yes, I have seen that thread. It's very long. I haven't posted on it as it is getting pretty "sticky". I think it's time for it do "die"......

People seem to either "hate" or "love" WL, there never seems to be a middle ground.

One thing that has always stuck me as rather peculure, is WL always seems to be held to a higher standard transportation wise. Every resort, except for AKL shares transportation. The Epcot resorts have about 5 on one line. Why do people get so bent out of shape that WL shares with FW? In the morning, WL is the first stop, GF is the next & last. Noone ever complains about GF "sharing".

Oh well, to each his own!!
Kimberle~Yes...that thread is definitely on the way "out", as posters are getting WAY too sensitive about the "love/hate" relationship (of the WL). I just don't get it either? The Dolphin (where I spend the majority of my time @ wdw) shares bus transportation with EVERYONE in the EPCOT circle! This includes, BW & BWV, YC & YCV, BC & BCV, Swan...and anyone else going from the BW (not staying there) to other parks/locales! It's never any problem for us, as we are relaxed and patient while on vacation...waiting with everyone else. If we were in a RUSH...we'd either RENT a car, bring our own...or call a CAB!! You brought up such a valid point, with EVERY resort being included in this practice (w/exception to the AKL). What's the BIG deal? Also, the pool is fabulous, and cozy...the lobby is astounding (amazing ceiling...etc.), and the smells seem FINE to me, plus ~ the cm's are the BEST. So...what's all the hubbub about? (LOL). :wave2:

* Liv2CdWorld~check page 2 for the thread. It's probably been "closed" by a mod (LOL). ::yes:: I found it (not closed yet)! Here's the link: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=480698&perpage=15&pagenumber=1

HAPPY HOLIDAYS to you *wonderful* group of DISers! :sunny:

Anyone know if there is ever an Ap rate for the Villas? Since we are going back this summer, I thought about trying the villas but only if I can get an AP rate. Does it exist?

::yes:: Yep, it exists. Good luck!

RATPACK,

I have received a small discount on the The Villas but you would do better renting points from a DVC Member and staying Sunday-Friday...points needed for a

Two bedroom villa checking in on Sunday departing on the next Friday, from June 11-August 15 would be 40 points a night x 5=200 points avarage rental price per point $10.00 so total cost would be $2000.00 (NO TAX)

If you could get rack rate the same rate would be Value Season $2675.+tax or Regular Season $3350.+tax (taxes really add up)

Friday and Saturday points are 75 points a night so each night would be an additional $750....This is why some DVC members only stay Sunday-Fridays. The best rate DVC members can recieve is 25%+ tax off rack rate and only if available for week-ends so some stay on cash over the week-ends.

One bedroom Sunday-Friday would be 30 points a night x 5=150points at $10.00 a point total cost $1500.
Friday & Saturday 56 points a night

Studio Sunday-Friday would be 14 points a night x 5=70points at $10.00 a point cost $700.
Friday & Saturday 32 points a night

Go to DVC Rent/Trade Board:
http://disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?forumid=29

I would love to rent you points but don't have extra for next year. On the Dvc Rent board there are Members that don't go to Disney everyother month.:earsboy:

Hope this made sense

Counting down to my trip next month to WDW, we'll be staying at both Wilderness Lodge and The Villas at Wilderness Lodge. I'm really looking forward to this trip, WL was our first resort we ever stayed at, and VWL will be our first Disney Vacation Club Resort (we toured the rooms a few years ago, and it was a big reason for us purchasing DVC). :) Any hints or tips to make our stay most magical? We have courtyard view rooms at the lodge, and a 2BR at the villas. Anything specific I should ask if is available when we check-in? I'm sure really any room/villa would be perfect! And, I promise to take lots of pictures and post them when I return! ;)

If you are interested into a possible upgrade(to Concierge), you would want to inquire when checking in! Often, they offer a $35 upgrade to concierge from courtyard booking! Also, don't forget to ask to be a Flag Family!

Happy New Year

Last night local news reported WDW for the past two days has had to close park gates early due to over capacity crowds. December has had a record turn out at every Orlando theme park.

THANK GOODNESS I AM NOT THERE!!!! That must be a nightmare!! What would the wait time be...*shudders*

They interviewed several park goer's and MK & AK was the worst, 50-60 minutes for shows and rides and most said food lines were impossiable.

Hers is a fun link. You can track New Years as it heads toward the U. S. Enjoy "VETS"

Oh My..Park Capacity.. Run Away!! OMG that would be just like being here.

You should see what New York City is like. I mean you cant walk. We are travelling in herds that move an inch a minute. I couldnt wait to get away (back to Brooklyn). I tried to go to the museum on Monday, and the line to get in was down the block. The waits for the restaurants were out of control. Orange Alert didnt scare anyone from here. We are doing much better since 9/11. The tourists have come back! Cops all over with assault rifles, military jets flying overhead. Geez!

Now I know why I only like going to WDW off peak it would feel like I never left here.

Happy and Healthy New Year to my WL family.

You will love the 2-br Villa and your correct any one would be perfect, for extra convenience I would request a Villa near the elevators, for a reference just click on the link below it will give the the floor plans of each Villa and where they are located.

Have a Great Trip :wizard: PIXIE DUST :wizard:

TOO ALL WL VETS, "HAPPY NEW YEAR"

Just updated post on page one, removed 2003 room rates and added addition information. Hope 2004 is another GREAT YEAR and that everyone will have the opportunity
to visit our other home WL.

Just maybe not on a day that Parks close gates early due to over capacity crowds.

Just got off the phone with my friend at the world. He said they closed the MK again today to any drive ins but it was still open to resort guests that used boat or rail transportation. Disney is stating record attendance for this season so far.

An update for our trip. Looks like we won't be doing a rental car. I booked with Tiffany to give them a shot. Will be nice to not have to drive this time. We are only going for 4 nights 5 days anyway. Still no opening at WL and we lost our in at the Poly! My buddy is going nuts trying to find us something. He offered the toaster to us but I have my standards and declined. :) Tomorrow he will be checking the GF for a lagoon view. Who knows, we may end up there. :teeth:

Anyway, will let you guys know.

Does anyone know if the decorations are still up at any of the parks / resorts in mid January?

JUST WANT TO WISH ALL MY DIS FRIENDS A VERY HAPPY AND HEALTHY NEW YEAR! AND MAY WE ALL GET TO THE WORLD THIS YEAR!
