Happy New Year All!!! Best Wishes for a great 2004 for each of you and your families!!

I too have been cooped up with family- fun and appreciative to have family to be cooped up with but I'm looking forward to getting back into a routine.

Sheesh- the crowd reports this week from the MK certainly have me thankful I am able to go in October!!!

Have a great day and weekend all!

And may God Bless each and everyone of you in abundance this new year!!!

Fred PD to you on trying to get GF. If you get it, let me know what you think just in case I get a good AP rate this year.;)

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!!

From Magestic: Just got off the phone with my friend at the world. He said they closed the MK again today to any drive ins but it was still open to resort guests that used boat or rail transportation. Disney is stating record attendance for this season so far.

I have a question, with the closing of the MK. Does anyone know if this includes Annual Pass/Florida Resident Annual Pass holders who drive up and are not staying at a resort? I am just curious. Maybe Fred or Roy do you know or can find out. Thanks.:D

Will check with my buddy and let you know what he says. I would assume that AP holders would be allowed in but that only makes sense to ME. Who knows what they are up against at the parks on those days????

I can say this though, it's good that resort guests get a priority for entrance.

That's Disney for ya. ::yes::

Fred,

Thanks. And you are right about Disney Resort guests getting priority. I think that is only right.

When I told my husband that they were turning drive up's away, he said that "he" couldn't see them turning AP holders away. But, I don't know.

The parks must be packed. I think that is great. It seems like things are getting "the way it used to be". I remember when I went as a teen that they were always packed. Especially in the summer. Those are the good old days. I remember leaving at 1:00 am in the morning from the MK and being stuck in traffic just leaving the parking lot took 1/2 or so.

We will have to see what happend, keep us informed. I just want to say it is great to have someone like you and all the WL threaders. The wealth of information is definitely well appreciated. It is so neat that everyone chips in and this way we all benefit.

THANK YOU TO ALL.:D

Don’t get into a panic as this is will be tapering off this week. You must remember, we have the Citrus Bowl football game here, with two teams, over thirty bands from all over the country marching in the Citrus Parade, plus Award winning Cheer leading squads and they all want to go to one of the theme parks while here.
I had run to the store in Orange City this morning and as I went over the I-4 overpass, there were tour buses as far as the eye could see heading north.

Panic??? PANIC??? WHO'S IN A PANIC?!?!?!? ME? NO!!

Well, I saw the new codes for March and April today, and needless to say, I was a bit disappointed! Last year, I had such a terrific deal, and this is almost $100 more per night! If the next code isn't a good one, I think our trip might be off!!!

Happy New Year All!!

Fred - PD on getting the GF. I have pics of my son sitting in front of the gingerbread house store. It's really neat. 10 days to go eh? You must be jumping out of your skin :) !

Tig girl - I think the codes are higher because it is peak season.

I'm hoping to get the rest of my trip reports up before the weekend is over.

Oh, and Fred, I'll have some picks for you.

Had to go all the way to the second page to find you guys! Here's a bump!

In the home stretch in planning for our trip! I'm starting to get a little stressed, with the PS planning and such. Is it really neccesary for Jan., or will we be able to go "by the seat of our pants", so to speak? Never having been to WDW, we have no idea what or where we'll be at any given point. Help!!!

I just did my first trip as an adult to WDW back in October and was a bit overwhelmed with the PS planning but I pushed through and made PSings for dinners (and character breakfasts) but not lunches. They really worked great as the longest I had to wait for a table was 5 minutes- which was perfect as my dining companion was a 6 year old and long waits would have been a total bummer.

If you really know of a restaurant you want to eat at- and it is a more popular one- I would suggest making a PS for that at least and take your chances on your other dinners.

You can also just call from any phone at WDW- I forget the number- and get the dining number and make a PS right then and there. So say you are at MK at 3 and see a place that grabs your interest for dinner, you can pick up a phone right then (or just do it in person at the restaurant I think) and see what is available for that restaurant for dinner time. That way, you can just enjoy your time at the MK and walk right to your restaurant at your PS time and be seated. Thus, more time in the park, less time waiting for a table.

Some like knowing they have a spot at the restaurant of their choice for dinner at the time they want, others are more 'dine on a whim' and don't care about PS and takes what comes.

Sorry for being long winded. In a nutshell, I think it totally depends on your traveling style.

Have a great time!

Unless it is a place that you really want to eat at, you can “fly by the seat of your pants”. Keep in mind that over 50% of the people are there on a one day ticket and they don’t have a PS.
As a local, we do a lot of one day trips and have not had a whole lot of problems getting seated within a reasonable time. If there is a place you want to try, go an hour before you plan to eat and put your name in the pot. At the front of each park there is a Guest Relations booth that can assist you and they are also in the resorts and can help as well.

I don’t like PS as I never know what I will be hungry for that day.

Thanks for the quick responses! We are kind of an indecisive family when it comes to what to eat, so to decide without even really knowing the options is daunting, to say the least! I'll try to nail down a few places, and play it by ear for the rest. Thanks again!

Ive been to WDW in Jan. Its not a crowded time. Most of the restaurants I usually would make PS for was not necessary. Like Florida Cat said, you could put a PS in on the same day. The exception for me was Chef Mickey at the Contemporary. Its a popular restaurant especially if you have a child. Its one of my favorites. so that one I would suggest a PS. The only other one would be Cinderellas Table for Breakfast at the Castle. That one is always booked way in advance. The alternative would be 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian. They have a nice buffet with Cinderella and Prince Charming. I loved it.

PD & magical moments for your forthcoming trip.:sunny:

...skippin' RIGHT O'ER Tuesday, eh?? [LOL]

#1EeyoreFan ~
What we usually do is try to schedule certain parks on certain days. Then, we try to make PS's according to where we'll be. For instance, if we are AK we'll make a PS for Boma at AKL. Or, if your journey is Epcot, you simply MUST make it a point for PS's at Le Cellier. Now, mind you, we don't do PS's for EVERY meal on EVERY day ~ we usually wing it, and the few PS's become highlights of our vaca......good luck!
