Wow...lots of people are gonna be soaking in the nice weather for the holidays.....lucky folks!:D

QJ411: I hear Ya..Im here at work right in the middle of Times Sq and its coming down hard. The big snowstorm will hit tomorrow.

OHHHH how I wish I was at the Lodge.

Hey, I just had an idea.. Wouldnt it be just out of this world if they had snow fall on the Lodge, like they do at MVMCP, Osbourne Family Lights and the Candelight Processional.. Just picture it WL Vets!! The snow coming off the roofs as you look at the Falls and walk around outside. OMG,,what a site that would be. Hey, who can I write to about this!!

Fred: geez I never sent you my pics!! :earseek: but i will!!::yes::

I have the pic of the elusive Otter in his famous pond!

What? Today wasn't the big one? AAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGHHHHHH! Take me to Florida before I become a permanent snowball!

ROY!!!! Where are you...this weather gig is hard from 280 miles away!!!

but, there are WL people leaving soon so..High ho, High ho, it's forecasting I go!

Current Temp at WL : 49 (6:30am)

Saturday:
Partly cloudy in the morning then clearing. Highs around 60. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph.
Tonight
Clear. Lows around 40. Northwest winds 10 mph. Wind chill temperatures of 30 to 35 degrees late.

Sunday
Sunny. Highs in the mid 60s. North winds 10 mph.

Sunday Night
Clear. Lows in the lower 40s. North winds 5 mph or less.

Monday
Mostly clear. Highs in the lower 70s.

You are up early Betsy!

Thanks for the weather! Although it might be cold for you, it isn't 18* and snow like it is in NH!! I will have to say that so far, 'the storm' here is more hype then reality. No snow is falling and what fell at night is barely covering the grass. However, this could be a lull. We'll see.

Can't wait to hear more holiday reports from the WL!!

Have a great weekend all! Off to bake cookies...yum!

Miss Vivian and I just returned from our 5 days at WL. We wore long pants and long sleeve shirt for 3 of those 5 days. It was windy and cool. There was no way either of us would have jumped in that pool. Being in the shade with wind blowing was really cool.
OK, here is the scoop on our WL portion of the trip.
We arrived on Monday, 12/1 at around 9 AM. Our luggage was picked up and stored for us immediatly and then the wait begain. They only have two persons working the Check In/Out counter and the line moves so slow. When we finally did get to the counter I was offered a room with bunks (just two of us) right then or we could wait for a room with two queens. I told the CM checking us in to save the bunks for a family with children and that we would wait for the regular room. We went on to AK where we spent the day. We arrived back at WL around 2:30 PM and stood in line again only to be told that the room would not be ready until 3. At 3:10 I used the house phone and found out our room number and that it was ready. We had 4010 and it was located on the left hand side of the complex with a view of the Otter Pond. I will send photos of the view soon.
On Tuesday morning there was no paper at the door as we had found in the past. When I went for coffee I found a stack of papers on the table at the elevator. The next morning there were no papers at the door or elevator. On Wed and Thurs the papers were at the door. A sign of cut backs is evident here as with the lack of CMs at the front desk.
I went down to guest services on Tues morning to pick up our tickets for CP. After standing in line for 15 minutes the CM told me that she did not have a key to the box where the tickets were located and that I would have to pick them up at Epcot. I told her that I was not going to spend my time at Epcot waiting in another line instead of enjoying the park. I came back about a half hour later and stood in line again and she had the tickets. There is no discount this year as has been reported before. While standing in line with numerous other people from around the country there was one phrase heard quite ofton " I will not stay here again". There was a lady forn TN standing in front of me the second time and she was there to find out how to get to the parks. Nobody had explained anything about the system and she was overwhelmed by the whole thing. I used our time together to explain the boats and buses and even mentioned Disboards.
Housekeeping was just OK. We did get a towel animal our last night there. I assume it was to put there to remind us to tip the housekeeper. The bad thing was that we had left that morning at 8:30 and returned at 2:30 to rest up and get ready for MVMCP. Our room had not been made and we had to sit in the lobby while it was cleaned and she made the towel animal.
We did see the alusive Otter. It played around for about an hour one day.
There was a hidden Mickey on the post of our balconey. Is this true in all rooms?
Food at Whispering Canyon was great. We just had one dinner there but would come back there to eat if staying in another resort.
We purchase the $12 mugs. They only have one size now. The lady at checkout was telling me about the all you can drink plan and I told her we had two at home. She said "Why you not bring them back". I told her that the plan was "per stay" not forever. She said "oh everyone brings them back, you can tell, no problem". After tasteing the coffee each day I figured the mug was way over priced for what I drank.
We did the sleigh ride and it was great. Just a note here - this is a cash only ride. I came prepared to put it on my room card and then had to go back to the room, no small task, for money. The trip takes you down a dirt road into the campqround where you turn around and come back. You then go between the lodge and villas to the beach area and then turn around and come back. The jingle of the bells and the clopping of the hooves were great sounds. We would do this again. Thanks John and Rodney.
All in all the trip was great but WL has lost a little shine for us. We got the feeling that Disney Management has decided that you have paid you money and thus you are not going anywhere else so why bother with great service. If you don't stay in the room next year someone else will.
We left Friday at 5 PM and there were now 3 persons on the desk with the line extending past the Christmas tree in the center. There has to be a better way.
We attended MVMCP and the CP and if I can answer any answer any questions to help anyone with an upcoming trip please ask.

Russ and Miss Vivian

Merry Christmas To All

Thanks for the report Russ!!

Bummer about the understaffing! :(

Although I did experience just a touch of that during our October visit. I received a postcard from the WL with a link to a survey and definately pointed out the understaffing issue. Hopefully you will get a postcard for the survey too (it came about two weeks after our arrival home). If not, you should certainly forward your experience to the management.

We never arrived home to any towel animals (which I was really looking forward to) but mousekeeping was accomodating when we arrived back at 1:30 as they were just about to do our room- they skipped us and came back later. I also requested they do our room in the morning after running into them at 1:30 and they easily accomodated that. This was important since when traveling with a 6 year old, we were often back to the room by 1:30 for a rest break.

Glad here were some bright spots too- I liked hearing about the sleigh ride!

Yikes- we are on page 2- that won't do!!

Greetings from a very snowy NH this morning- we have over a foot and it is still snowing and blowing!

Have a great day!

Subbing again for FloridaCat here's Betsy with the WL Weather:

Current Temp at the WL: 43* (8:00am):rotfl:

Today: Plentiful sunshine. High 66F. Winds N at 5 to 10 mph.
Tonight: Mainly clear. Low 44F. Winds N at 5 to 10 mph.

(Not sure if I would venture much past the Lobby fireplace..but that is just me!!):sunny:

Monday: Sunny skies. High 72F. Winds NE at 5 to 10 mph.
Monday Night: A mostly clear sky. Low 52F. Winds light and variable.

(this looks nice...maybe I would leave the fireplace long enough to get a toddie from Territory Lounge!!:teeth:

Tuesday: Partly cloudy. Highs in the upper 70s and lows in the upper 50s.

(mucho better, maybe I would take a dip in the hot spring before my fireplace retirement!)

Looking Ahead: Wednesday calls for Scattered Storms 70/46..40% chance of rain

>>maybe I would take a dip in the hot spring before my fireplace retirement!

Is it my imagination or does Betsy have a theme going here? I think she's well on her way to becoming the WL Fireplace Fairy!
It's a crisp 41 degrees here and I'm tooling around in shorts but please understand, I am also a woman of, shall we say, a certain age and my internal thermostat has gone kaput!

In fact, I would gladly change places with some of my WL brethren who are in the Northeast right now. I hope all of you are safe, dry and warm!
I'm off to watch Pirates of the Caribbean for about the 19th time since Tuesday. And to quote the Drama Queen, "Oh my, lay law, lay law!!"

I have no idea what that means but when said with the right inflection and timbre it conveys exactly how I feel when Capt.Jack Sparrow steps on the dock!
Yo Ho, Yo Ho, A pirates life for me!

Please someone, if I EVER say I'm going to WDW and NOT staying at the WL, will you please beam me over the head with a totem pole???

We got back on Wed from a 5-night stay at the Swan, and I swear it doesn't even feel like we were at DW. :( The beds were great, as everyone says, but there was no feeling of "disney magic" there for us. Too far away from the MK, too, which is the park we always return to, time and time again. It was sorta neat being able to walk to Epcot, but.....I need to go back HOME to the WL. And we probably won't get to until late sometime next year. Our AP's expired yesterday, and we won't get new ones until we're ready to go again.

Geez, what a bummer letdown. I miss my Lodge!

I know the feeling! This summer, we are giving the Poly a try just to add a little variety! I just hope that I won't be disappointed! I guess if necessary, I can check-out of the Poly and try to get a room at WL!:p

I LOVED that movie! It's on my HO-HO list :hyper:

It's a crisp 45 in Northern Alabama. That's a heat wave compared to yesterday! They were even talking about snow Friday. And everyone said...snow? What's snow ;)
