And the best one liner by my little one of the week. During Wishes at MK...upon seeing TinkerBell come streaking out of the castle...her little face lights up and she says "SEE DADDY, I KNEW SHE WAS REAL". That one line made the whole trip worth while.

Tardin- I had a similar experience last month when we were there. My 5 & 7 year old daughters were asking me what the wire coming out of the Castle was for.

Wire coming out of the castle? Wire? Oh, do you mean the line that Peter drew in the sky from the castle so that Tink would know where to fly and wouldn't get lost in the dark with all those fireworks going off? I guess it could look like a wire if you looked at it a certain way...?

Tardin- :lovestruc ooohhh that is soooooo sweet!
So glad she got a chance to see the real Tink!
:teeth:

Glad to hear from the recent returnee’s. Your excitement absolutely gets my blood pumping. To think a few months/weeks ago you stumbled in here with the many often asked questions and return fully aware us “VETS” are not a little loony in our zeal for this magical building.
You also are now aware of what I have warned many times on our “home”. Not all of you leaves when you check out and you are forever obsessed to plan your return.

Welcome back and sooo glad you enjoyed your stay.

Kimmar & AspiringCindy, your in all of our prayers. PD & {{{{{HUGS}}}}}

I got the post card after the July trip. I thought it was pretty cool and thank them for allowing me to share my thoughts.

HMMM Peter drew a line, OK that sounds logical.

Tardin Hi & Welcome Back!!

To see the Magic of Disney through the eyes of a child brings a tear to us all! We all knew Tinkerbell was real, but it gets lost as we get older, and only a child could bring the Magic back to us!!!
Great report Tardin, it only makes my trip seem closer, and makes the Memory of WL even that much clearer!! Glad you all had a wonderful trip, now onto planning your next one!! We all know you will!! You see something we all have discovered once we have stayed at 'THE WILDERNESS LODGE" we are all drawn "HOME" again! It in the sights, the smells, the sounds! It affects all of you!! Welcome back!!

Tardin..great report.. OOHHHH how I long to back at the lodge.

Oh geez..I have never gave a trip report.

Here is day one..Ill put it up on trip reports as well:

DS-Age 11 and myself Ageless..hehe (single parent)
Sat-Oct 25, 2003

. We get to JFK (NYC) airport round 6:30AM for our 8AM flight..It was a zoo as usual. Over to the X ray machines first,, then wait to go through security, finally get to the gate. Yay, jet blue, our favorite airline..smooth as glass flight and we land 10 min early. Go to national car rental pick my car and Im on my way to WL..YAY. As I enter the entrance of the lodge and see the bear crossing and topiary, I well up with tears,,I am finally here, my dream come true. Valet takes my car and luggage and I enter that spectacular lobby. We hear the crickets and then the music, AHHHH. DS and I hug each other and dance around (Im the bigger kid). DS goes to watch TV and I check in..hardly any line..its about 11:30 AM. CM is real nice. I ask about Flag family and he goes and gets the book..Im holding my breathe as I see him coming back with the book, (oh happy happy joy joy). Sorry mame, we are filled up but we will put you on the wait list. Oh well,,better luck next time. The good news is that my room is ready...Room 5034 overlooking otter pond, MK & fireworks. We race up to our room and dance around again.. I LOVE MY BALCONY. (Ive lived in an apt all my life, so anything thats not a fire escape and is outdoors is a luxury).

We explore the lodge, do some pin trading, get a huge kick out of the ducks in the swimming pool (which everyone loved, it wasnt the WL lodge pool without the ducks) get a mug from roaring forks, and head off to find Freds Memory Box.. WE are so excited about this. On the way there by the beach, a bride and a groom were taking pictures. I thought, how wonderful that was, I even took a pic of them. Hey, I wanna get married at DW next time. We then jump on the nature trail and head out. I bring the postcard of NYC/Twin Towers and pin to add to the box. With directions in hand, my son locates the X on the tree and we find it. We were so excited. DS thought this was so super, so did I. Just as we put the box back, a family on a surrey bike passed by, so we just acted like we were just walking. We then continued on the trail and looked at the flora and fauna of the area. (For those of you that dont know, besides being a professional musician, my hobby is volunteering as a Park Ranger for the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge, part of Gateway National Park). DS and I like insects, snakes, birds, all that nature stuff. We head back to the lodge, DS hits the pool and I relax in a chair, then I unpack a bit and get ready for our PS at Chef Mickeys.

We catch the boat and off to the Contemporary. What a fun time. The food was delicious. We were doing the celebrate dance and swinging our napkins around every time. We loved the picture they took of us..Its the first of many pics I buy..to me they are priceless. I always enjoy myself there, plus we had a surprise visit with Princess Auroara. That pic came out so nice, we are using it as a Christmas card picture. After dinner, we jump on the monorail and head over to the MK for one of our favorites, "Spectromagic". DS and I know all the music and words, so we love singing along. We got a great seat on the curb on main st next to a family from Wisconsin..they were as excited as DS and I so that added to our magic. Then came the new fireworks shows, Wishes! Oh how wonderful.. We ooohed and ahhhhed. After the show we caught the boat back to WL along with hundreds of other people.. We were so pooped..What a looong day..but a spectacular day 1. We hit the bed late and slept like logs. I think we got up round near 9AM the next day..

Ok part 2 coming.

You can imagine being there when you read about everyone's experiences. I loved Chef Mickey's when we were there - so much food!!! And Spectro Magic, it's the best, I never miss it.

Thanks for Part 1 :earsgirl:

I can't wait for Part 2!!! :earsboy:

Starz723

Great first day, waiting on part 2....I can't wait until Friday..my nephew came by today with his Mom to show me his new Disney Tennis Shoes, he is so excited about Philharmagic.

Finally got back to the computer.

To all who posted responses to my trip report thank you for your kind words.

Fred, unfortunately I did not get to the box. We left on Halloween night. Between trick or treating with the kids....their parties at school...last minute details to take care of...I never got back to my computer before I left and I forgot to print out the directions. and yes we should get together.

One addendum to my report:

TOWEL ANIMALS EVERYDAY.
The kids loved them. Our Mousekeeper was Devora. We left her a tip everyday. After the first animal (an alligator) my older daughter wrote her a little note thanking her. I finally ran into Devora on our last day and I stoped to tell her how much our kids loved them and that it really made their day. She seemed very happy to hear that it was appreciated.

Starz723

I loved reading the first day of your report. We really got a kick out of the real ducks in the pool also.

In just 3 days we're off to Disney! As I mentioned in an earlier post, this is our family's first trip and we are SO excited! Someone here mentioned talking to our travel agent about faxing a room request (we booked a standard room and would love a view of the fireworks), but our travel agent doesn't seem too swift... note to self: get new travel agent! If anyone can direct me to a thread with info about room requests, I'd really appreciate it. We're almost packed. I'm not sure how the weather will be next week, but I figure I'll pack a combo of shorts/lightweight pants. I just read the thread about the memory box and can't wait to hunt for it!

Just printed my directions for the memory box ::yes:: My 5 year old will have a blast in the woods looking around. He's only 5 but he already wants to go hunting for deer. Haven't quite figured out what to put in yet, any suggestions?? Oh well it'll just be a surprise for all of us.
Only a couple more weeks to go:bounce: We decided yesterday to extend our trip 2 extra days so that we can take the kids to Sea World. They will go nuts over the dolphins.
I was reading on another thread that there is alot of things going on the first week of December...conventions and such. Does anyone here know anything about this?
