Starz723-We received that same postcard after our Aug 2003 vacation.
I couldnt believe how long that survey was! They would ask a question and then have you type a paragraph explaining your answer.
I was hoping I would get something aftet the survey- a great rate, free vacation (ha ha) but nothing has come my way yet from WL. Boo hoo.

Just got off the phone with CRO..they said they are releasing the FL res rates on Dec 4th for February!!!! Woo...she said it was 109.00 for the WL...that saves me about 80.00 a night!!! Now I can upgrade!! 126.00 for deluxe!!!

ok, now I am excited all over again :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Cookie, Candy Exchange

OK, a separate thread it is. Now, how do we start this?? Do we put it on the recipe section of the DIS? Or do we do it here on the resort section? I would like to also do something like including a link on the WL thread, but I don't know how to do it. If someone knows how, could you help?

This is great, I have so many wonderful recipes. I especially like the real old ones passed down for generations!!!!

Thanks all. :D

Survey ? I didn't get any survey after our trip in May. Maybe they started it soon after? Maybe I'll get one after our trip in Dec.

Dizneykid - I would create it elsewhere on the DIS. If you create the thread here, it'll only get moved.

Once you create the thread, just copy the http: address and paste it on the WL thread.

Just start a new thread on the Cooking/Crafting/Scrapping Forum that should be the correct place to start it.

To add the link just, highlight adress url. (to highlight hold left click down and drag over address example http//disboards.com) then right click and select copy (place pointer over the highlighted part then click copy) Make sure to copy from the http at the beginning all the way to the end.

Come back to your post then right click on paste the new link will be added to your post. Keep trying if at first you don't get it, after you get it once you'll be a pro.

Good Luck.

You know what Im hoping by doing the survey, that they will send us a postcard rate for the WL.. I get postcards often for AK Lodge, moderates & all stars. I used the moderate card last year, $79/night POR. When they did the FTP I jumped on it for WL. Im wishful thinking here..wouldnt that be great.. I told them I want more discounts for WL..LOL one never knows.

I would love to get some new reciepes. Im always on the lookout for good stuffing reciepes and help with my candied yams, they never come out the way I like. So this will be fun.

I meant to post this a while back, but it completely slipped my mind

If anyone is interested, you can download a Wilderness Lodge Desktop Theme by clicking here

I just used the startup and shutdown sounds and the background wallpaper. I don't use the icons.

If you have trouble downloading, I can email it to you

Enjoy :wave2:

Florida Cat,
What kind of temps can we expect the first part of December? I know that they say it can be upredictable, but how "unpredictable" as far as highs and lows and rain? I will be looking forward to your weather reports in the coming weeks.::yes::

Like they say, “Is This is a trick question”? LOL
I watch three local 11:00 PM news the night before and make my notes. I only do a two day forecast because it is so unpredictable. Even then it can change as Sunday called for a chance of rain and was chilly and drizzling all day. Not even what was forecasted 12 hours before.
Normal December can run with lows of 60’s to high 50’s with highs in the upper 60’s to 70’s. December and January are typically dry.
So keep a close eye on "Wild, Wonderful, Wacky WL Weatherman":

My packing advice for the next several months is to pack for “layer” wear. Where you can take off or put on as needed.

Thank you , Florida Cat, for the weather reports! Warmish and rainy - my skin will love it!! :) Especially since I just had a horrible reaction to moisturizer. (If you see a tall woman with a scary face, that's me!)

*gazing at my countdown* So close!!!

Hi everyone.

Finally got a chance to post some of my thoughts and experiences about the lodge.

First, I must begin by saying we had an awesome time. The hotel is unbelievable. Just about everything about the place is perfect.

Here is a run down of the highlights....and a few lowlights...of our experiences:

We drove down from NJ, staying overnight in Kingsland GA, finishing the drive on Sunday morning Nov. 2nd. We pulled past the gate at the lodge a little before 11:00 a.m. Pulling up to the hotel my 5 yr. old daughter says "OH MY GOD...LOOK HOW BIIIIG THE HOTEL IS". She provided most of the best one liners of the trip.....and a little of the pixie dust too...as only an innocent 5yr. old can.

Pulling up to the front of the lodge was tough. It was like a zoo. There had to be at least four or five vans bring people from the airport along with at least a half dozen cars and there were more arriving along with us. Well...it took a few minutes to get our bearings straight. My wife went to the bellman’s desk and got them to come get our bags. I let them valet the car because I just wanted to get out of there and get inside already.

Walking in....what can I say that hasn't already been said. I've never been in a hotel with such a .......well......perfect lobby. I didn't get to enjoy it long though. The line to check in was almost to the entrance door. I got on line and my wife and two daughters went to sit down.

The line took about a half hour. I finally get the CM and she was nice but very rushed. She said they got my room request...view of MK....bunk beds. She has us on the 5th floor "MK side" but they do not have any bunk bed rooms available. She said that we can check on Monday morning to see if any become available, but I say that as long as we have the MK view it is ok. She again says that she has on the "MK side". I say ok, but that I would like a room between 5012 and 5032.

We get the rest of the hotel info from the CM and my wife and my two little girls go exploring the hotel. We walk the lobby....check out the fireplace....take a walk to the pool and geyser. We decided to take the short boat ride over to the Contemporary to take the girls on a Monorail ride.

We get back to the hotel around 2:00 and the girls want to go for a swim. I figure we may as well check to see if the room is ready. The CM on the phone says...yes your room is ready :D we have you in room 5010 :( Well from all that I've read I know this is out of the sight line of the MK but I figure we may as well go see the room and I will try and change it if we are not happy.

The room is what I expected. Nice, but no view of anything but trees. The kids don’t seem to mind…..neither does my wife, so we figure we’ll just settle in and keep it. It is down near the end of the hall so we know it will be quite at least.

We get changed for the main pool. It is tough to find lounge chairs but we finally do. The kids love the pool. My 7 yr. old loves the slide. My younger one wants no part of it. She is happy just to swim around. It is now 3:00 and the lifeguard announces it is time for duck races. There are so many kids they had to make two races. Both my girls are in the first race. My little one comes through again with a little bit of magic…her duck wins the race. One hour free boat rental. I tell my girls that I will split the hour up between the both of them.

That night we eat at Whispering Canyons. Food was very good . The girls had fun with pony races and handkerchief hats. Also the Lincoln log table.

The rest of the week went smoothly and quickly. Here are some more thoughts:

Transportation was fine. We never…..never waited more than 10 minutes for a bus or boat. Let me say though that both my wife and I are early birds. We always got the first bus or boat in the morning to the parks. Even leaving Epcot and MK at closing wasn’t bad. Epcot on Wed. night after Illuminations (we watch by Norway which has a great unobstructed view and was upwind) we made it to the bus stop... not very quickly and a bus was there but there was a line. It was standing room only and nobody else was getting on. We jump the line and stood on the bus. Leaving MK at closing we had to wait for the third boat but the boats were lined up one after another.

Roaring Forks was fine. As I said my wife and I are early birds so we were down there by 7:20 every morning. Food was good. People coming a half hour later everyday may have a different opinion because the line was out the door some mornings.

We really like being in the North wing. Very easy to the boat dock, Roaring Forks, and the pool. This next thing is a silly thing to be impressed by but I thought the elevators were the best of any hotel I have ever stayed in. It always seemed like it was a matter of seconds after pushing the up or down button that the elevator would be there.

We never went to an early entry park, but we always were there for 9:00 opening. I think it worked out well doing the parks that were not early entry.

I feel like I didn’t get enough of the lodge…….I need more……I’m hooked :D

And the best one liner by my little one of the week. During Wishes at MK...upon seeing TinkerBell come streaking out of the castle...her little face lights up and she says "SEE DADDY, I KNEW SHE WAS REAL". That one line made the whole trip worth while.

And this would have been the point where I would've burst out crying and grabbin' the tissues!!

Glad you had a good time. We told ya that once you go to the lodge, you never leave.

Tardin1964

What a great trip..(I knew she was real too!) I love staying at the Lodge just as much as visiting the Parks, my nephews when we asked at the Parks..."What do you want to do next?" Always say go back to the Lodge...We have stoped asking. Thanks for your report.:earsboy:

tardin1964,

you made me cry at work. your little girl is so cute. the line about tinkerbell being real is priceless. thank you.

if only, we all had the hearts of children. :D

Oh Tardin, that is sooooo sweet! What a wonderful trip- thanks for sharing! Did you get any pics?

And I will make my way over to the recipe exchange thread once I've decided what recipes I want to share!

Tardin- I had a similar experience last month when we were there. My 5 & 7 year old daughters were asking me what the wire coming out of the Castle was for. I dutifully told them that Tinkerbell uses it to fly on for the start of the fireworks. They asked me if the real Tinkerbell flew out and having never seen firsthand I told them that "No it is probably a Disney animatronic Tinkerbell." Well I don't know who's mouth dropped further- the girls or mine when as your daughter put it "The real Tinkerbell" came out.

It's the moments we fathers live for and need to remember when years from now they bring home a "tattooed tinkerbell" for their prom date.

Woo HOO!!!!

Tardin and KCDISDAD - I forgot to mention that during our last trip, my son and I were sitting at the Plaza in Tomorrow Land and when Tinkerbell came out and was REAL - I almost hit the floor

When we got back to the lodge, I was babbling to my DH about Tinkerbell is REAL and he just looked at me like I had two heads and said "You didn't know that?"
