The Lodge and Villas share everything. You can not walk to the Campfire from WL. Take the small boat to FW, then walk to Pioneer Hall, Trails End, and catch the Orange Bus to the Meadows Trading. The Campfie is behind the Meadows store.

Hi everyone. We just returned yesterday from 7 nights at WL. We had such a great time. I'm a little depressed that it's actually over. It was just the most wonderful vacation. Here are some highlights:

ROOM: I had faxed a room request prior to going and we were all set to get what we asked for (5th floor facing MK). On a whim we asked what the upgrade price would be for concierge. At first we were told $60 from Woods view. When I said we would pass, the clerk disappeared and went and checked with somebody in the back and came back and offered it to us for $40. I didn’t ask any questions and quickly said YES. It was an unexpected treat and I definitely felt we got our moneys worth. If anyone wants any details just ask. We had room 7044 facing the MK. We could see the castle in the distance and had an excellent view of the fireworks every night. We asked if we could keep our 5th floor room and add key access and were told they no longer do that.

CROWDS: Yes there were some crowds, but everywhere we went it was very manageable if you went out early and had a good game plan. For example, yesterday we had 8:15 breakfast at Crystal Palace and were able to do the following by noon (In order): Dumbo, Pooh, Snow White, Mickey’s Philharmagic, Peter Pan, Carousel, Met with Ariel, Splash Mtn (2x), Pirates, Alladin, Swiss Family Treehouse and Cinderella’s Surprise Celebration. After that we hit Storytime with Belle and Toontown (One side note: when we were leaving Toontown we happened to stumble on a CM leading Snow White with all 7 Dwarfs to the area by the train station where they stopped and posed for pictures for a few minutes. I don’t know if this is common but I’ve never seen it before so I was pretty psyched.) From Toontown we walked the path to Tomorrowland and did the Carousel of Progress before leaving at 1:30. Not bad IMO.

WEATHER: The weather was great with the exception of last Tuesday when it was a tad rainy, but even that wasn’t too bad. 80’s during the day 60’s at night. Perfect in my book.

TRANSPORTATION: Generally good. The boats were always great. The busses were okay too. The sharing factor does add on a little travel time but it’s not too bad. We didn’t wait more than 10 minutes at the stop. They always had a CM out there in the morning that was keeping track of the comings and goings.

That’s all I can think of at the moment. If you have any questions just ask.:D

Wow! What a great report. Sounds like you truly handled the crowds well and I love the way you detailed what you managed to do by early afternoon.
I get so psyched reading these reports. I had asked our TA today to check on Concierge availability for our upcoming trip and now, if we get it, I know what room I may ask for!
Thanks so much for sharing and I'm glad you had a great trip!

Hellooooo my WL Buddies.

Ive returned from my absolutely fabulous 7 day stay at our beloved WL. I had room 5034 facing the otter pond and a clear view of the castle, monorail and fireworks. I loved every single second being there. I hated to leave. No flag family..All filled up..Oh well next time.

I saw the ELUSIVE OTTER:earseek: on two occasions. I have him on video and film. What a treat! I will post a pic as soon as I download my pics.. (I took over 300 pics). He was so cute swimming around and eating. He would poke his head out of the water and chew. I will list the wildlife I saw. (for those of you that are not aware, Im a volunteer park ranger. Observing birds, insects, wildlife is one of my hobbies) One quick incident. I was watching the grackles (those black birds you see all over) eating bread someone was throwing from a balcony below me. I noticed the trepidation of several to pick up some of the morsels from near the pond. That really red flagged it for me. I knew something was up. (Those birds are like vacumn cleaners and leave nothing around) Sure enough, one bird went for the bread, and out of the tree like a lightning bolt came a sharp shinned hawk. He nearly got that grackle for breakfast, but he got away. My son exclaimed, WOW! What was that! I loved my balcony.

This is a quick post, as I had to go straight to work last night and then off to one of my volunteer commitments today. So Im totally wiped out and still havent unpacked. I will post a trip report. I wanted to let you all know that I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the WL and cant ever think of staying anywhere else. Id be happy to answer any questions to anyone. I explored every nook and cranny. Looked at every detail, and marveled over and over at the beauty of the whole lodge and property. Ranger Stan and I had some great talks..What a guy! I took his lodge tour.

I got a total of 5 towel animals. What a great mousekeeper, Con suello..she even spelled out "HI" on the floor as you walked in.
I took her pic too.

I found Fred's memory box and will post on that thread. I left something special. John Luke (my son) and I had such fun finding it. We did that the first day we were there.

Ill post more soon!

Floridacat- I am enjoying your weather reports. It has turned cold in Wisconsin so I am very much looking forward to Florida weather!

laralou~

We're in SE Wisconsin and it is cold and rainy here today. YUK!! If you get weather like we did you will be very happy! My DH and I were just talking this morning about how much it stunk that yesterday our girls were having fun swimming in the WL pool and today they need pants and a jacket. Oh, how I would love to live in Florida! Have fun on your trip.

I was a lifelong IL until coming down here to be with my DD. I fished many many years in your Beautiful state. One of my favorite memories is Black River Falls. The was a Cake & Steak, now Perkins, and a cheese and ice cream store was next door. We emptied our wallets there every stop. LOL

It has been great here, but throw in a pair of long pants and a light jacket, as it does cool down fast after the sun sets.

Greetings fellow WL lovers. I'm fairly new to disboards but excited to see a WL thread. We love WL and are staying at VWL next trip. We haven't stay in these yet and hope that we won't miss the Lodge.

JILLWDW

You wont have to miss the Lodge, you'll be right there. You will be checking in at same desk and just staying in a different building, that if you haven't seen is just beautiful with a smaller lobby...the woodwork and detailing is wonderful, the ambience is the Pacific Northwest just like WL....you'll have access to both pools, docks everything. I am a dvc member there at VWL but love the WL and stay there over long week-ends.
Will you be staying in a studio, one or two bedroom villa?

:wizard: PIXIE DUST :wizard:

WELCOME TO THE DIS:wave:

We are staying at the WL in December for 9 nites. We have a courtyard view reserved as that is all that was available at the military rate when we made our reservation.

We have tried to upgrade to concierge but it is not currently available.

I would really, really, really like a room with a view of the castle. I have a couple of room numbers from people who have posted on this thread that their woodsview room faced the castle. If I fax the room person prior to our trip, what are our chances that they will "downgrade" our room choice so that we can have a room with a castle view????? I know that we will still be paying for the courtyard view, and that is fine. My kids love to stand on the balcony and watch the castle. Last time we did it from the Polynesian that kept them entertained for half an hour.

Thanks for your help!!

Okay, I've read all the reports on requesting a room and a view. But do you think this is getting out of hand? Do the workings at WL get tired of getting all the faxes. Will they take the time to read them and try to make it happen? Would it be better to just hope that you can get your request when you check in? First time at the WL, want it to be really special for the 25th aniver.

Any thoughts?

Ok...the obsession is getting REALLY bad!! 90 days!!!! WEEEE!!!

Anyone stayed in 4121?? I saw the picture of the view over SCF and wonder where it is in relation to the main elevators in the lobby

Ratpack - you should have snail mail today...:bounce:
Betsy

I got exactly what I requested:Pinkbounc :bounce: Woods view , non smoking, overlooking the otter pond, facing the castle and fireworks- Room 5034. I got the view of the contemporary, monorail and partial canal view as well..it was fabulous. I also thanked them too and told them how happy I was. Im sure that makes their day.

I also faxed a special note to the room assigner. I always tell the room assigner to have a magical day and a life showered with pixie dust. One never knows if they actually read them all. I think when you make your initial reservation its all noted on that and its probably whoever requests it the earliest.

If you do fax, the key is to ask "if its possible" (never demand) and to note its a special occasion.

Campingal - I sent you a PM...don't know if you got it...

Welcome Jillwdw!!! I have become addicted to this place...it is where you can get your WL fix till your next trip..ok..gonna go call Disney Dining and make my reservations.
Betsy
