Ok, I only have a few minutes as I'm heading out to a cub scout cookout...
Actually, Leo and I had just departed TL and were on our way to
.. CSR! It was just before 3pm, so I thought checking in might be a good idea. Ive learned to allow plenty of time for a room inspection and possible room change/s. And how have I come to that conclusion?
May 2007: the smelliest room on earth at CSR
August 2007: a pretty funky room smell at POR
December 2006: the moldiest room on earth at BWI
Once bitten, twice shy. (NOGreat White)
Stop for a moment. Think hard about all you know about WDW.
DDP. Park hours. Free dining. The fantastic improvements brought to Journey Into Imagination during its first rehab. (NOAmy Winehouse) Does it really surprise you that theyd forget to make the elevator reach the top floor?
Sadly, working in construction, it does NOT surprise me than an architect would leave the vertical transportation off the Level 4 detail sheet. And the electrical drawings. And the structural steel drawings. And the mechanical drawings...
But...I hear Disney's the toughest Owner in the world to work for so THAT surprises me...
But neither does it surprise me that theyve found a solution and thoroughly briefed the CMs on its application. Turns out, if you park close to the main path leading to Building 3, you can take its elevator to the fourth floor. And a short walkway connects Buildings 2 and 3. Easy-peasy.
Oh good. I was getting concerned...
We made quick work of finding our room. Guess our view? Ill give you two hints:
1. It was booked with an AP discount.
2. The booking category was some mysterious option that showed less than the standard view rate.
Here it is
Hmmmm...this one was a tuffy...
What you were expecting maybe a lagoon view? Puh-leeaase. If so, this is obviously your first time traveling with V and family.
Some day you're going to surprise me with an upgrade. I just know it.
Sure enough, we had a lovely view of the Casitas parking lot. But Leo pointed out something else, something more exciting within our view. Youll have to zoom
Look Ma I can see Mt. Everest! I was pretty jazzed, actually; Im a huge Everest history buff. The mountain. Not the ride. (NOImagineers) The rides good and all, but Im somewhat obsessed with making it to the real Everests Base Camp someday.
Awesome. Nice camera, BTW...
But the view was NOT what worried me. I inserted the key, took a couple steps inside and smelled
Oh crap...here it comes....Oh wait...or was that Kat's TR??
a very faint scent of bleach. Hooray! No noxious chemical odors, no flatulent human odors. We were golden! (Or yellow-green, as the case may be. NODad)
Not only did it smell okay, it may have been the cleanest hotel room in which Ive stayed. Ever. Id be very surprised if one could find a single fuzz on the carpet kind of clean.
Cool!
When I picked up the remote, it was a tad damp. So I smelled it. (T, stop laughing you know you would too!) Bleach water. Yahooy, they even cleaned the remote!
OMG - You did NOT smell it....
I have that mirror in my bedroom
There's my handsome buddy! Hi Leo!!!
And what do we have here?
Nice. My LL Bean one is like that. But sadly...terrorists have destroyed air travel convenience and I refuse to check my "shower bag"....I put it inside a suitcase.
Now, its time to check on our third character, my hair. Id worn a hat at TL, so it was in need of a touch-up. I wet my fingers, ran them through, but not so hard as to lose the curl, and voila! Back in business! The new do was working out just fine, thank you.
Everybody neat and pretty?? On with the show!!
I didnt get a picture of this, but check this out: theres a roped-off LINE for the pool bar to order drinks. No more standing with your $20 in your outstretched hand, flagging down a bartender. Nope. We now queue for a to-go drink. Weird.
OMG - they must laugh at us all...treating us like cattle and yet we still mooooove right along through the queue...
I mustve looked like I could use a drink, because the Mojito I ordered was way strong. So strong, I did something Ive never done before threw it out before Id finished.
YOU DID WHAT?!?!?!?!
OMG - MY EYES!! MY EYES!!!
Find a happy place...find a happy place....
Could someone pick LL up off the floor please?
Thanks for that!! Hmmm...note to self...try the Mojito...
Leo played. I sipped. Leo played. I sipped. Leo played. I sipped.
What a
perfect afternoon!
How sweet!! All that was missing....was me!!!
Sounds like you two had a great time...dontcha love that? I only wish they'd last longer...
Next: Even the best laid plans
Oooh....can't wait for this one!!
Oh sure, put up an installment and then slink out of town..like we don't know that you are already at your happy place.

on the non-smelly room.

to relaxing and playground time.
LL - Here are the smelling salts
Phew!! Thanks Janet...all I remember was someone saying "Stay away from the light"...
Look away, LL!!! Look away!!!!
Too late...severely burned corneas here!!!
