Lightspeed ahead to a healthier you! April 2016 WISH challenge... all are welcome!

Quick Saturday fashion related check in... My jeans leggings are getting old and droopy so I went looking for replacements yesterday. Didn't like the style from the brand I've been wearing, but found some in another brand I thought ran smaller. Took a chance and got a pair in size L, thinking if they don't fit now they will soon, tried them on when I got home and they fit!

Checking in - I'm down 2 more pounds this week for 4 pounds total or 50% of my goal.

I'm happy about this, because I don't feel like I've had a good eating week. I've been bad about tracking (trying to only do it in my head) and having more splurges than normal. DH is out of town for a golf trip with some of his friends and I think the kids and I have been much less structured with everything including meals. He gets back tomorrow and hopefully I'll get back on track.

Attended the Food and Wine festival today at California Adventure - only six stands of items to choose from and I had 2/3 of a serving of Mac N Cheese and a bite of a beef slider. :crazy2:

Suffice to say - that's one way to keep my eating in check! Managed to walk over 10,000 steps today and I barely ate at Disney today. Woohoo.

Hey guys ... sorry I've been so MIA lately. And this coming week will be a very busy one, so I don't know how much time I'll have to check in, but I'll try!

Progress Update:
I basically ate everything in sight last week, so of course I didn't lose anything. But I somehow managed not to gain either, which is great. So I'm still at 50%.

I hope everyone's having a great weekend!

Checking in today. I gained 3 pounds last week. I'm not surprised at all by this considering there was a lot of celebrating with food involved. However, yesterday I was perfect on points, didn't go over and today I'm planning the same thing. I have a 7 mile run too so I'm hoping to get right back to where I was. It's very frustrating to gain after last week's loss but I know that's life and stuff like this is unavoidable. All that matters is that I keep eating healthy most of the time and keep exercising.

I'm at 25% to goal now :worried:

Good morning all! No time for chatter.... but sorry for being MIA all weekend! Those of you who follow me on Instagram or are friends on FB saw updates from the adventures along the way of the great "College Decision 2016 road trip" so you know why I wasn't online for more than a few minutes here and there!

Off to post the QOTD and I'll be back to play catch up tonight and to post our results... so if you didn't get them here over the weekend, you aren't too late!!...........P

So, as Star Wars fans most of us are pretty familiar with this line:

But sometimes it isn't DROIDS we are searching for, but FOOD~! Do you ever find yourself searching the kitchen cupboards, pantry, and fridge in a desperate search for __________ ???? You aren't SURE what you want, but you want SOMETHING... salty, greasy, sweet.... whatever your "go-to" junk food might be. You aren't truly HUNGRY.... but you are looking.

How do you talk yourself out of those situations? How do you walk OUT of the kitchen (or the 7-11 or the snack food aisle) WITHOUT the indulgence? How do you grab the apple instead of the Doritos? Or the cup of tea instead of the M&Ms? Share you strategies for those moments when we need to remind ourselves ..."These aren't the snacks you're looking for."

progress report: 45%

So happy, the scale finally started moving this weekend!! I am very happy with my result. Not only did I nearly catch up with my progress. I also am now only two pounds away from no longer being overweight. I am really hoping I will be able to end the months in the "normal" weight range! I have said this so often and then somehow got derailed, so I just hope that this month I will really make it there! And then further down during the summer.

Sunday was another long run, I am up to 7.2km now. Today my legs are a little tired. But it does feel good to get the distance up. I think I will be well prepared for the 10k at the beginning of June.

@pjlla I hope you had a great trip and that some decisions were made!

QOTD: Oh, this happens to me far too often! I know that actually switching off the light in the kitchen and closing the door really helps me to not enter the kitchen in search of food. I cannot say that I have a specific strategy otherwise, but I try to make good choices. An apple, a carrot, a cup of tea are the best ones. But I have found out that sometimes one piece of dark chocolate or a small piece of cheese can satisfy my appetit enought to avoid those situations. And of course tracking what I am eating does help to avoid getting more, too! Otherwise I feel that I just have more willpower on some days than on others...

Just so busy with work, family, and taking my Dad to appt and radiation treatments. I'm reading here every few days but not having time to post. Congratulations to all - lots of progress noted on this thread!

If I eat a good dinner I am usually fine and I am not really hungry at night so I don't snack much. My husband and I made Salsa this weekend and I wanted some last night. I made sure I had calories to spare for the chips and instead of sitting with the bag I counted the chips so i knew I was only going to have 2 servings. I also tend to get lazy at night and decide food is not worth getting up off the couch. This does not not work every night but some nights it does.

I have a huge issue with getting candy at the check out at a store. As a kid if we were good in the store we got a candy bar and this carried over to adulthood and I do this for my kids. It was really hard to break that habit and I still have some days that I just can't resist. I try to get in a line that is moving fast so i am not looking at the candy for long and I will try to read the magazines too. Anything that will distract me.

While shopping I avoid buy the junk by going to the store with a list and only going down the isles with the stuff that I need. It also helps when I don't have my daughter with me. She wants everything. I do get some of the stuff for the kids. I feel they should not go without it because of my husband and I. I tend to buy stuff that I can go without. We also teach the kids to just a snack size cup instead of eating a ton.

Week 2 Results:

Not a great week for me....
1/4 days worked out 25%
And weight has been gained. Honestly I've been fluctuating a lot this week sometimes I'm under, other times I'm over -- I'm just gonna cut my losses here and say 0% progress in the weight.

Luckily, I'm at the point where eating the snacks doesn't really come into play anymore. I've been eating well now for so long that it's my routine. I can't think of the last time I've caved and snacked on something that really wasn't in my game plan. I'm sure it will come again at some point, but for right now it's just not an option - and we do have that stuff in the pantry. I think I'm so consumed right now in my life with this weight loss that it trumps any craving. It's a pretty good place to be, never been here before and it's probably why I've successful so far... just wondering how long it will last.
