Lights! Motor! Asian?--Feb 2010 Part II. 11/6-Pix, part 2. Page 199.

Just wanted to pop in and say that I got a card from Jordan today. No real news - because he really doesn't know me....I was not very active on the same TRs he was. I would see some of his replies, and saw him referred to frequently, but was intimidated by the size and the camaraderie in his TRs. :confused3 Recently I decided to take the plunge and started reading them (I'm still working my way through them :surfweb:- they are massive!!) His personality just shines through his reports and even though we have never spoken - not even on the DIS - I felt touched and wanted him to know I was thinking about him. I sent him a card a couple weeks ago introducing myself, and basically saying to him what I just wrote here. Today I got a thank you card from him. I don't know how much time he has available for writing letters and such, but I was really touched that he took the time to reply to me - a complete stranger - with what little (?) amount of time he has available to him. But then again, after all that I have read, I am really not surprised either. :goodvibes

Tanya, thanks for sharing. We got a thank you card from Jordan too (he does take the time to thank family...a new touch for him) and he says that the prayers, letters/cards and care packages are keeping him going. His life is tough since he works long days and only has a few days off but it sounds like he's getting more clarity about who he is and what God is leading him to change.

I wish I could go with Wendy to visit him in Kentucky but Wendy and I are splitting shifts with the kids. I'm off to Chicago this weekend for an alumni function at my alma mater (University of Chicago) and then Wendy is out next week. Hopefully she'll have some good photos and stories to share about Jordan.

Take care everyone and thanks for keeping Jordan in your thoughts and prayers.

P.S. Sorry for the long absence from the DIS. I've been busy over the past few weeks planning a career networking event for my local University of Chicago alumni club, attending meetings and other stuff. Hopefully life will subside after Thanksgiving.

Take care,

Derek:banana:

Watch it D Jay I have pix too!!!:lmao::lmao:

Go for it. You know I'm not afraid. If I was, I wouldn't have posed for those pictures. :surfweb:

Yes! Thank you for sharing. I finally got his box out a few days ago! I should have gotten it to him sooner, but life gets in the way some times, ya know? Any whoo, the pack n mail place I took it to turned out to have a young man working there who use to be a CM at DisneyLand! Can you believe it?!? I asked him if he thought my envelope had a few to many things on it? I had an old 37 cent Disney stamp along with a nickel and penny stamp, along with this enormous return address label....on a little card! :rotfl: He laughed, said yes and then I proceeded to explain the person I was sending this too was a big Disney fan, his eye's lit up and said I use to be a CM for DisneyLand! So of course a huge conversation about Disney ensued and we had us a good time for about 30 mins.

Good to see you on here Derek, I hope your trip and all your planning comes out the way you want it to. :goodvibes

I'm a newbie and gotta say Jordan sounds terrific. I have not read everything but why is Jordan in rehab? I am curious because people I know who have been in rehab were not allowed to communicate with people "back home." Thank you.

If you keep reading you'll see, I think it best to let him be the one to explain. I don't mean to come off offensive.....I just think it best to read his explanation for the information, otherwise I feel it would be like gossiping. Hope you understand. :)
And for the record.....he is a pretty terrific guy, and there are a lot of people on here who love him a lot. :goodvibes

Jordan is a man with a heart of gold.

I agree with Millie... if you would like to learn about the siutation please use the chapter links on the first page then you will understand. He is not in rehab, he is in an intensive treatment program.

Just jumping in to ask a favor.

My grandma passed away during the night. All prayers are welcomed to help her find her way to my grandpa. (Hope that makes sense)

Sorry if it rubs anyone the wrong way. I'm just upset at the moment.

Really sweet of you to do that Tanya! And thanks for the update. Even though Glenn is the only one on here I have actually met (at least that I know of) I feel like so many on here are like family (well, in some cases maybe even better). :rotfl: You can always count on the people here to provide not just fun, but love and support when you need it! That is what makes it so great to spend time here with friends. :woohoo:

Prayers sent for not just your family or your request, but also for you that you will be filled with warm and pleasant memories of your grandma that will help give you peace!

Thanks Marv. If you have visited my TR in the last couple days, you will see that I lost my only brother nearly 2 years ago. (He is also who is referenced in my signature). That leaves just my parents and me in my family. I have lost all of my grandparents and my only sibling. I still have a few aunts, uncles & cousins (none of which live in the same state that I do). Then there is my husband & children and his family (which is massive - but not "my" family) So I know what you mean about the people on here becoming family. I think that is partially why I have joined in on so many threads recently - I think I am searching for "family". I absolutely love the banter, kidding, & picking that goes on between the "regulars" on the threads that I am following. And I know with every jab, or teasing comment made - that if any one of those same people had a need - emotional, spiritual, or otherwise - the teases would turn to hugs & prayers. And that's the kind of "family" I am looking for. :grouphug:

I know what you mean Tanya! I pick and cut up with a number of my newest "family" members on here quite a bit, but those same people were more helpful than they will ever know when I lost my Mom a couple of months ago. They were there with many thoughts, prayers, and :grouphug: that helped get me through! And I hope they all know that if they ever needed something, and there was any way possible, I would be there for them! :)

OK, you two are making me mist up here a bit!! I can personally testify that I have had no less than 4 of my closest DISPals call me up in the last couple of months in tears or needing a listening ear, and it's been a major blessing to me to be able to do so. We here for you in the good, bad and ugly!

Ooooh, sweetie. I'm so sorry I didn't see this until now. You'll never rub the wrong way with this gang. :sad2: This is the kind of group that will always lift one another up, and well verbally rough one another up too! :rotfl: You totally have my support and prayers, let us know if there's anything else we can do for you.

Amen, Rosie. I couldn't have said it better myself.

Welcome to the maddness.....er, I mean family. :goodvibes So sorry about your loss Tanya, I just noticed your siggie with the dates just the other day, and I'm truly sorry for you.
And your so right, for every jab or tease, there is lots of support and hugs, and prayers to go around. :) I just wish we all lived closer to one another, giving a hug in person would just be the icing on the cake.

Oooooh! Marv! Now you've made me cry! :sad1:

I didn't realize you just had a major loss too Marv.
Well, even though I didn't know this and I'm not one of the one's who's been there to help you through, I want you to know that I am now. I've lifted each and everyone of you up in prayer today, may you feel the comfort of the Lord and the peace only He can give in this situations.
Marv, I've only just begun....is that a song?....to get to know you on here and I hope that we can become fast friends. :goodvibes

Just to add a few more misty eyes....my family and I have been going through a tough time lately with my brother-in-law being diagnosed with cancer, his hospital stay and, then, just a few weeks after being diagnosed, his death. My Disboard friends were there with me every step of the way. I can't imagine not having them in my life. Walt Disney would be proud to know that our love for Disney has brought us all together.:grouphug:
