I'm on a Mac but - PC users can reply too.

I LOVE Aperture for managing my photos. I have absolutely outgrown iPhoto.

I do need to get better at photography in general. I don't shoot a lot of RAW now but would like to start as I learn more about photography. I understand the basics but have a lot of issues getting out there to practice. Just not enough hours.

I hadn't thought about getting Lightroom, at least not yet. However B&H has it for 50% off today only. So really that is a big savings if I want it.

Thoughts?

I'd definitely get it, if I was you. It's great for organization and post-processing, and pretty easy to use as well.

I can't compare to Aperture but will say that I am completely happy with Lightroom for editing and organizing. I think it's pretty easy to use and provides good results.

Lightroom will probably be redundant if you're already well entrenched in Aperture. I've used both, and while I personally prefer LR, it is a personal taste thing.

A+ at organizing

A+ at processing RAW files. (There are so many free presets available)

Lightroom at 50% is a definite must buy!!

I have a Mac and I have tried Aperture in the past. The learning curve on it was a bit daunting to me. Two months back Newegg had Lightroom for 50%.
I use mostly Canons DPP for raw editing and then Elements for anything else BUT for 50% off I could not pass up Lightroom. As far as editing photos I was able to figure out things on Lightroom much easier than I could with Aperture. Though that might have just been me.

I havent done much with the organizing part of it yet because I have my own method.

Thanks - it is the 50% that 1st caught my eye but then I remembered that I'm taking a college class and therefor am eligible for the $90 Student price so I actually don't have to decide in the next 19.5 hours.

I really like Aperture. But I haven't used it extensively for RAW files. Maybe I'll go out this weekend and see.

I did a Lightroom trial 18 months or so ago but I can't remember what I didn't like about it. It just seems that Lightroom is the standard and that I should get to know it.
