Disboards on Facebook reporting a lightning strike at AoA closing a Nemo Building for at least a week. They are attempting to relocate all vacationers in this building to other resorts.

What I am reading is it knocked out the AC causing the building closure. No real "damage" other than that. But yeah, no AC = no deal if that's true.

Does anyone know if that makes sense? If there is a central AC unit then it might, but if there are room-by-room AC units there, then maybe not.

Can't speak for AoA with any firsthand knowledge, but POP uses a central chill water system that circulates cold water through each room's air handler. If one unit goes down it takes out many rooms. If a main power panel is taken out by a power surge...............multiple units will stop working...........a whole bunch of rooms will lose their cooling.

Curious to see where they're putting everyone. Sounds like massive 'upgrades' are a possibility...

I hope they eventually post about their new "home" when they get back as well. I hope many of them got upgrades too!

From what I've heard they've been moving people to POP (not okay in my eyes as the Nemo buildings are all suites whereas POP doesn't have a single one) and those who refuse are being offered AKL/WL.

AKL/WL seems like a more appropriate offer. Still stinks for those who are having to pack up and move mid-trip. Mother nature messing with some people's vacations! :worried:

It is a centralized a/c system.. not individual room units so it is definitely plausible that the system was knocked out.

I heard the same regarding upgrades to AKL/WL. Many folks staying at AoA in other sections didn't even realize that there was an issue going on with the Nemo suites.
