Is it just me or have they added more lighting?

It just doesn't seem near as dark in there as it used to.

Unless its changed in the last month, I didn't notice any difference.

I suspect the "difference" is due to how bright it might have been outside. If you're walking around WS on a sunny day, your eyes take a while longer to adjust to the lower levels of interior lighting in Mexico. Just my theory.

OP, I thought the same thing when we were there last week . I was really surprised at how much brighter it was in there. Before, I always felt like I almost had to feel my way around because it was so dark. There was definitely more lighting. I have to say I liked it better than the dimness that was there previously.

Does the volcano behind the restaurant still do that special effect with the smoke?

I felt like the "shops" on the left and right hand side were brighter.

I believe they are.

Although I'm not sure that the Cave is very bright. Perhaps it was all the tequila...

I thought the same thing last week. Much brighter than last June.

There was a time, decades ago, that the waiters at San Angel actually carried flashlights, it was so dark in there. I swear there were stars in the sky back then, too.

A prior trip a few years back, we had dinner there and it was as dark at the end of the meal as it was in the beginning. Very challenging to see anything. Have been many times over the years and it really seemed brighter this last time.

It seemed normal to me when I was there last month, but I'll tell you what - I don't know if it was super sunny or what, but Pirates and Haunted Mansion seemed SO much darker than they ever have to me before!

Thanks for the reply-I definitely think it is much brighter now.

And I find that really strange since the theme of Plaza de Los Amigos has always been shopping under the NIGHT sky.:)
