I am very sorry to hear what you are going through! If you want to pm me your address and a list of things your DD wants for x-mas I would be more than happy to go on somewhere like
Amazon and have an item sent to you for her. Let me know. Take care and I hope things get better soon.
I'm so sorry! Big hugs to your family and I pray for a speedy recovery for your DH! If you would like to PM me, too, I would love to send your DD something off her list! A kind Dis'er did something for me awhile back and I promised I would pay it forward! So this would make me very happy
Let your family know and see if they can pitch in for a few presents for your DD. You'd be amased at the generosity. It's there!
As for the gifts for your DD, get her on the Toys For Tots list. You can register online at
http://www.toysfortots.org/request_toys/toys.asp
If you belong to a church, contact your pastor or priest. If your DD is in school, contact the school counselor and let her/him know, as well. At my school we adopt families in need and provide Christmas gifts and a holiday meal for a certain amount of families.
Good luck and

to you!!!
Thank you for the generous offers and advice. I called my family this morning and they are going to help with the Santa giving. My older kids completely understand about gifts not being there and are going to buy gifts for their own children for under Nana's tree plus pick up a thing for DD. I have truly amazing kids. Again, thank you for the offers but my big children and my parents are going to cover Santa.
Wow, I'm so sorry to hear about your husband. What a difficult way to start the holidays. I'm sure you will do all you can to keep the magic for your dd.
Most drug companies no longer have "samples". The assistance plans go according to household income. There are those separate organizations, but they may be difficult to work with - sometimes the funding runs out at the middle of the month and they may not be able to help until the beginning of the following month. I would definately involve your dh case (or social) worker at the hospital for assistance.
So sorry to hear of all that is going on.
www.needymeds.com is where they list all the forms for medication assistance. I also know the salvation army sometimes will help with one month of medication. Now that I am thinking about it ask to talk to the hospital social worker and see if they can help in trying to get DH on medicaid so the hospital bills and medications will be covered. Since he has been out of work it should be available to him. Good luck to you and keep us updated on DH health and how things work out.
I'm so sorry to hear about your DH. Hugs to you and your family. Are these meds covered under the 4 dollar
walmart list? what about state aid? since your hubby can't work right now, they may cover the medical bills for you. We had to do this when my hubby broke his back during a tractor trailor accident. They paid our back medical bills for the accident and his medications and traction.
I'm so sorry to hear about your friends loss, then your husbands heart attack. I can't even imagine what you are having to deal with.
As for cobra, last time I had anything to do with it, you had 60 days from the last date of you regular coverage to apply, and 45 days after you applied to pay it in full. If you are still eligible, the hospital may be willing to part or all of his coverage in full to current. We have had the hospitals do this before, because they stand to loose a huge amount of money from non payment. Usually they will pay the 300-400 for a single person's coverage then loose hundreds of thousands of dollars.
I hope you get some relief on the meds and other costs. Don't forget to apply for medicaid, social security disability, anything that you can think of to help.Prayers and pixie dust are headed your way.
FIRST THING MONDAY MORNING, you should contact DH's former employer. He still may be eligible for COBRA. The payments are expensive (though there is a percentage of relief sometimes available through new governmental programs because he was laid off), but they can backdate back to the date of last coverage (was it the end of the month in which he was laid off?). Even paying for full-coverage COBRA is better than paying those kinds of medical bills.
This is extremely time-sensitive, as you only have a certain number of days to apply after employment ends. You may get in just under the wire, depending upon when his coverage terminated.
Good luck.
I met with the hospital Financial Dept this morning and filled out a TON of forms. They are going to contact COBRA as he might still be covered and if he is, they are going to pay the first months premium. They are also taking a portion of the hospital bill off-some kind of program for ppo who don't have insurance-so that was truly a blessing. They also are leading us in the right direction for the prescription. Without DIS'ers help, I would have never known to even ask the nurse about it this morning.
I feel for you OP but weren't you questioning whether or not you should go to Disney a few months ago because of your husband's health and money issues and you still went?
I guess I just don't know how you couldn't have been more careful in planning for something like considering your husband's health.
Again, I am sorry for you situation and hope it all works out.
Yes, that was me. His cardiologist said if we followed certain guidelines he was able to continue with the trip. So with all the great advice I recieved here (scooters, breaks, day on/day off, GAC, hotel location) we went and had a very relaxing and memory filled vacation. Honestly, this was probably our most RELAXED Disney vacation ever. I was so ready to cancel it and argued with him more on not going/going than we have ever argued before. Finally with strict guidelines we went. I'm glad we did as we have so many wonderful memoried and pictures! Plus what I learned from here and used at WDW we will probably always use in the future when another trip does come up.
I just left the hospital and he is still in CCU but doing well. He says he isn't in pain anymore and can breath easier (DORK-he's so pumped full of meds, of course he fills fine-gotta love him). The morning Cardiologist meeting was rescheduled until this afternoon

so I am going to head back up in an hour.
I did get hold of my BFF while at the hospital and we had a good cry together. She totally understood once I explained what was going on but gave me the "why-fors and hows comes" since I didn't tell her what was going on. To freaked to even think that far in advance...KWIM? She's coming over to sit with DD this afternoon and spending the night with me tonight. Thank you again Kaytieelder for offering-you are a true asset to the Disboards.
Thank you for all the prayers and well wishes. Things seem not so deperate this morning. All of the sound Dis'ers advice and caring heartfelt encouragement, meeting with financial at the hospital, my BFF understanding, and my family...I've got a game plan and feel calmer.
Thank you so much!
