Life is full steam ahead, while I'm chugging along behind it.

I with the other people who say to make an adventure out of it. The thing of it is that nothing you are doing can't be undone so why not give it all you've got and see what happens? Your family will still be there so you'll always have a home to go back to, that should be very comforting.

You are exactly right, I know it may sound silly but I am actually feeling better about it today after having posted and had some great replies.

I am trying to find things to be excited about while not focusing on the daunting task of picking up our life and moving so far away. I have some things there I am now looking forward to- I really want to go and pick some apples- you can't do that here, lol!:thumbsup2

But to summize, I feel better on the whole about it today, I'm just trying to wrap my head around boxing up and packing our 3,000 sq ft house and moving it so far away. The logistics of it don't come together for me yet. I've moved but just in town, nothing that a couple of trips with a u-haul couldn't get, so I have got to do some research.

Let the adventure begin I guess!

Thanks,
Kim

That sounds great! These types of places are the ones we frequent the most. Glad to hear that schools in this area are good too.

If you were going to look for a place to rent in Mechanicsville, where would you look?- Newspaper or something like this? I've been looking at Craigslist and most of the ads on there are bogus.

Thanks for the help. :)
Kim

I would try the newspaper. I never really looked, but I'm sure they are there. It's the Richmond Times Dispatch (I'm sure you could find it online). I would also check with some local real estate companies. Hometown Realty seems to be a big one around here. I see their signs in my neighborhood when homes are for sale. Check them out and I'm sure an agent could point you in the right direction. I'm sending you a PM too!

I'm not in Mechanicsville, but I see Remax signs too, so you could check their website for rentals.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words and especially the info. I am a little more prepared after today both mentally and physically speaking.

I am going to check into the rental companies mentioned . I actually found a short term rental on craigslist but it is in Beaverdam-? I think she said it was north hanover county any thoughts on that?

I checked into the Hometown Realty and they really didn't have but a handful of rental properties, but the classified section of the Richmond Times Dispatch has tons of them.

Thanks so much!!

I think you've received some great advice here, and I too would think of it as an adventure. But I'm not sure I would make a move like that if there was a possibility it would be temporary or not a better paying job.

I guess I might have misled in a pp, the job is not a temporary job, however they told my husband to be prepared to move around a bit if he stays with this company especially if he is very successful.

You are right- everyone has given some great advice and I really appreciate it.

Thanks
Kim

When we moved from New York to Maryland is was a very last minute move. Yes it was stressful at first but things worked out perfectly. A few years ago my DH had an opportunity to move to Richmond (Chesterfield area). In the few weeks while he was deciding I was stressed but looked into all the info. that I could get. It seemed like a really nice area (house/school). We ended up not going but it seemed like a really nice place to live. Good luck.
