Well she could be green after Primeval Whirl or the teacups!

You are right, Rosie is kind of like one of the really nice dragons on...oh heck, what was that kids show that Evan loved with all the dragons? Aack, my memory is going!

or more like Puff the Magic Dragon?

who wasn't green....

Anyone know what is actually IN the English Rose drink?

Jeff is as intrigued with the Morocco list as I am.

Wait for the experts to weigh in in case there are changes! Quite a bit on the beer side so I think I will post this on the dining thread as well.

I know I know, I’m behind a day on my “in 2 days update!”
But I’ve been busy. Busy revising day 5. I think it’s day 5. LOL!

After some GREAT input from a CM at the BC I’ve learned a few things that have tweaked my plans for that day.

1. They have totally cracked down on SAB access and ALL children have to have their room keys with them to get in.

2. Evan will not have a room key until Sandie gets there so can’t go to SAB until they arrive, and we don’t know what time that will be given their standby status. They are hoping to land at 1:30 but we won’t know until that morning.

3. In our situation, as I thought (and NOT what my TA was saying), we are best off checking in live (not online), with me heading over earlier than planned to do it. The earlier the better was the advice I was given. So right now my plan is to hop in a cab at 7am and take care of it, then head back for the ranger tour and photo session.

4. All that being said, it won’t get Evan access to SAB any earlier but it should resolve my room/bed paranoia. While they won’t be able to let me check in for Sandie’s room, they should (per the CM) be able to
a. Confirm room layout and if connecting
b. Change their room to at least the 2 queen set up if Sandie and Paul have been given a King (she thought this unlikely as there aren’t that many King rooms which was great news). If they absolutely can’t change it (the King) we would get a rollaway at no charge with the addition of Evan once Sandie arrives.
c. I “may” be able to get it noted as a grand gathering at this point and request buttons, she wasn’t sure given that it’s Sandie’s check in that will up it to the magic number o f 8.

What is cool to know is that the 2 reservations are not connected and I can check in at the YC prior to check out at WL, one has nothing to do with the other. Which actually, despite an early start, frees up the middle of my day and gets us our lunch CS credits so I can go enjoy the day with my family instead of dealing with the swap in the middle of the day.

My new plan is after the photo session we all head to Epcot unless the group feels strongly otherwise and if so my guess is it will be waterpark or DTD. Both of which are fine. We will do ‘whatever” and eat lunch “wherever” that may be and head to the YC about 3 as hopefully Sandie will have arrived by then and we can all head straight to SAB from 3-5, then up to the room and over to Epcot around 6, stroll the WS and then have dinner at Tutto at 7:10.

Though we could use the WL pool after the photo session, I’m not inclined to be wet and then get on a bus to head somewhere, I want to head to my room lol! Unless it’s at a water park. My only real concern with this plan is it would have us out in the heat of the day at Epcot.

Part of me wishes I would not have checked in for WL so I could ask about the bunk bed room. The other part of me says forget it and save the extra $$ it would cost to upgrade the one room, even if it is available. To find out, I’d have to get our keys from the online check in and then go to the regular line. Which I may do anyway as I have other questions for the front desk anyway.

In annoying news I’ve been given 4 different arrival times for the Illumninations cruise. It makes it a little hard to plan the ADR’s. I’ve cancelled the later one but 5:10 is WAY earlier than we normally eat, it would not surprise me if this gets blown off. It will be interesting to see how that plays out. I currently still have 4 extra ADR’s. An extra tea time and some back up options that frankly, I’m going to hang on to. As the week plays out I will cancel as I go though!

Now, for the really exciting news. IN ONE WEEK I WILL BE IN DISNEY!

And in two weeks I will be (this is a double update, includes yesterday as well)

I am really really going to try to get the DCA trip finished up by the end of the weekend at the latest. I may get an update done tonight but we will see!

Well now, that was the intent! to target your input very speicifically!

so it worked! :thumbsup2

I thought so... :rolleyes1

There is Becks on the original list I found, which you can find here as either a lager or Beck Dark, which is more of an amber. I am confident they had a wheat/weiss beer at the Biergarten, not sure about out at the cart and can't recall the brand. So the Dunkles is the dark?

The strange thing is that for some reason the beers marketed in the US as German beers don't equal German beers... There isn't any Becks Dark in Germany... :sad2: The thing about beer in Germany is that it is still a very local thing and every area of Germany drinks their own type. Darker beers are mainly brewed in Southern German, while the very "dry" and light coloured beers are from the North. The brand of Beck's is one from the North... I think I once read that it was brewed for the export to the US and due to the long time in the barrels it was much mellower when it arrived in the US. That's why Beck's in the US tastes different from the one sold in Germany (I think today they brew in the US - and they are owned by InBev anyway...).

Looking at Glenn's picture and from what you wrote I would say he got the following ones (from left to right):

Spaten Optimator
Beck's Dark (Dunkles)
Franziskaner Weiße (the wheat beer should have a crown of foam)
Beck's Pils

I don't think they have what we call "Helles", but it sounds like your micro brewery makes one! And it does having nothing to do with hell! ;) I found this on Wikipedia which gives quite a good overview - I am talking about the Munich beer! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pale_lager#Variations

Oh, and btw "Lager" means storage, so a lager beer was a beer that was able to be stored. They used caves/cellars for that and tended to plant chestnut trees on top to provide shade in summer to keep the cellars cooler. Soon they started to sell the beer directly from the cellars and people would sit under the chestnut trees and enjoy their beer: this is how the beergardens came into existence. And because the other inns complained that they would lose customers, the beer gardens were not allowed to sell food. This is why even today in any "real" beergarden in Bavaria, you can bring your own picknick to eat while you get your liter of beer. :goodvibes

I did post on the dining thread, we will see if I get a response but you are thinking that the offerings are

Becks
Franziskaner Weiße
some kind of dark beer (Dunkles?)
and a Helles Lager?

Is that right?

Any more information on the dining board?

How was your trip? Welcome back!!!!

This site has an interesting list (see "h" for Helles), though what is most interesting to me about it is it is really short on most of the better microbreweries and isn't really a NW list so kind of mislabeled but shows what you can get in the grocery store lol!

http://www.nwmicrobrews.com/

Kind of an interesting note on the Thomas Kemper. It was one of the first major micobreweries out here. You can't really find it anywhere anymore (except for their rootbeer which has GREAT distribution). I used to drink quite a bit of both the Helles and the Blueberry in the early 90's. A fun memory seeing it on this site. Haven't had it, or seen it, in years though.

This is a MUCH better list and has many of our favorites on it
http://www.washingtonbeer.com/beerwabf.htm

I am fairly sure I've tried the Maritime Helles, though as you can see the Helles is not a popular option with the brewerers. Dunkles is apparently Dopple Bock. Not my fav.

Yes, my updated image from earlier today shows the input from the dining board. Have a few tweaks to the drinks but am sure more will come in.

Hi Cynthia! I can't keep up with you and Liesa and your daily updates!

The beer / drink around the world maps are fantastic - can I borrow them?

I totally agree with you about the onsite vs online check in. I much prefer it. In fact, on our last visit, I couldn't find the online check in line at Pop (:confused3) so I went through the other line anyway.

Oh, back to shoes for a moment: I got a couple new pairs for me for the trip today. I went to DSW to use a coupon I had and pick up a new pair of Teva Mush flips, which I did - but then I found a pair of Merrell sandals on clearance. Had to get them. They are kind of a "slide." Not sure how they'll work out, but I love my other pair of Merrells that I wear in the winter. I'm going to wear these when I sub on Tuesday - see how they do when I'm on my feet all day.

nice update, can i ask you to take some pictures of your food at tapen edu, i am excited to see what that looks like there, and if it really looks like some of the other ones i have seen.

i love the cooking tables.

Of course you can borrow them! I have a pair of Merrel tennis shoes that are just "ok", not as much support as I'd like. Comfy but not very substantial! Wearing while subbing sounds like a perfect test!

I can't keep up with the updates either. :rotfl:

here are a few pics from last years trip and of course I'll take some new ones for you Dan! I should have put them in the update, DUH! Other than the onion though it isn't great food porn so I will work on that. This was a MUST do repeat request from the kids, our only repeat restaurant of the trip, everything else is new.

Your plans are really coming together nicely! That stinks about needing all of the keys for SAB... But I can understand why they do it.

Yay for one week!!!

it TOTALLY stinks, although I completely understand it as well. We can go to the quiet pool but I know that will feel like tease to the kids. REALLY hoping they are on that 1:30 flight!
