Life’s too short...to never sleep in a treehouse! 8/27 TR is up! Link in siggie

A good news about FIL! I'll continue to pray for him! I hope all goes well on Monday and you guys can finally get some firm answers soon!

Thanks! Me too.

Cynthia,

I was so happy to hear about your FIL---:goodvibes...that does sound like news heading in a positive direction...:thumbsup2

I know what you mean about getting info from parents...:sad2:...my inlaws are the worst with that...and they are from that generation where they don't like to question the doctors...it can be very frustrating...

Hurray...there are Disers that are in the medical field like MEK who can at least give you some reassurance...and let you know what seems to be going on...:)

Ok...kind of hate to bring this up in the same post drastic change in direction

but...

Do you have the D&B Mickey/Disney handbag...and if you do...do you think it would make a nice 16th b-day gift...?

(for some reason I'm sensing you're a shopping kind of girl...:rolleyes1) and I'm thinking for budget reasons it might make sense to buy stuff and put it away for Alice's 16th...I probably should set a budget first...

and I saw that bag and though it was pretty cute...I'm mulling it over...

(Jordan-if you're reading...sorry about the bag stuff...we can't help it...it's in our DNA...:lmao:)

Oh the pressure of the gift for the 16 year old girl! I watched a friend go through this last year, I'm not looking forward to it. Taylor's 16th was such not a big deal that way but I've seen some nutty things for the girls!

I don't have the D&B bag but it is adorable! But...shape wise it is a pretty large tote and I know it would be too big for Kendall for everyday use. I think it would be a great gift but I'd be worried about the shape/style for a 16 year old. So I think it would depend on whether you think that's a shape she'd like and use, I know Kendall is more into the cross body type of bags that are quite a bit smaller.

I did see on ebay it comes in a wristlet though...

Not that I was shopping...

or anything like that....must be the dna...:rotfl:

starting now is probably very wise!

We had some torrential rain here yesterday and so after drying off myself and hosing down muddy soccer players...yep...I played on my computer!

Now that I am page challenged, I came up with a new, and better (I think) solution to my snack and counter service cheat sheets. Last time I literally took the giant list of snacks and shrunk it down. We used it a lot but it was hard to read and almost too much info. However, because we were always pulling it out I think it will actually work better as a stand alone insert in my binder.

I am going to do a double sided regular piece of paper but just fold it into quarter sized and then it can just reside in the back of the binder loose. What I'd really love is to have it laminated and scored so it could fold, kind of like maps are but I'm not sure how to do that. If I can figure that out, great, if not I'll probably just make several copies so if one gets lost or wet or Sandie wants one if we split up, we have backups.

Even with going to a full sized piece of paper, getting all that info on it was a bit of a challenge!

But first, a peek at what the pages look like in the binder!

And a picture of a wallet I am looking at to go with Tink. Much as I love my little brighton card case that Sandie gave me, it only holds about 4-5 cards which is a little small. I think this might work better as it should fit KTTW cards as well as cash.

It comes in a bunch of colors but I like the purple for how it goes with Tink

IMG_3331-1.jpg

Of course, since Tink will likely not be my everyday bag...does she really need a wallet?

The Counter Service Page.

While there are places I would prefer to eat for our CS meals (all lunches) I know my gang and it will be dependent on moods, what is closest, etc. I learned on the last trip I can't really pre-plan that too much. So I've listed them for all 4 parks and then for our resort and the boardwalk. I have highlighted my preferences though.

CS.jpg

The Snack Page. Which will be on the back side of the counter service page!

For this I just tried to list categories of snacks. The old list had each item and it was so big, we actually missed things.

Snacks.jpg

So, they are works in progress but overall I think the concept will work well. Now...how to get showtimes to fit in the binder! Right now I will have

Page 1: Cover
Pages 2-3:8/12 and all pretrip info, flights, etc.
Pages 4-5:8/13
Pages 6-7:8/14
Pages 8-9:8/15
Pages 10-11:8/16
Pages 12-13:8/17
Pages 14-15:8/18
Pages 16-17: 8/19
Pages 18-19: 8/20
Pages 20-21: 8/21
Pages 22-23: 8/22 and all return info, flights, etc.
Page 24: ?????

I have one 4x6 slot left....how do I best use it? It is valuable real estate as it's an easy flip to page....

In other news it doesn't look like Sandie will make it out here before the holidays, it will most likely be in January now. So do I tell the E's now or wait? I am going to let everyone have input on the ADR's, which gives me a bit of angina as I'd rather just pick it all myself but....I'll need their input.

Up next...Appeasing (including) the collective

Wow! Those are beautiful binder pages! Will you do an itinerary, or just a general idea of what you'll do at each park? I find that when I type out an itinerary, we really don't stick to it, or don't know what to do if suddenly there's a line where we didn't expect one, etc. I think we'll do less planning in the future, except for ADRs and a list of must dos.

Ok, now I need a copy of that snack pages 4X6. Is it in WORD? And I say the last page should be an overall of all of your adrs--in case one gets lost in the system--that always happens to me.

Holy Frick'n Cow!!!!!!

Where were those binder pages when I had 16 snacks to us up in 4 1/2 days? I love them. I don't know ......I think you are quickly becoming the most organized planner here on the DIS. Dorky? NO Obessive compulsive? YES (but in a good way! ;))

I am so stealing that snack list for my next trip. That thing is awesome. The CS list is pretty good, too. I noticed you don't have any favs at HS studios! :rotfl:

Thanks!

No, we won't really have a touring plan or detailed itinerary beyond what park/parks each day and must do's. I need to play with the layout on my first full park day to see what fits, I do think I'll list the order we should be grabbing fast passes. Other than that it will just be "must do's" or the "really want to do's" so we don't forget. My group would never be able to do a set touring plan and I don't really want to either, as quite often it is very mood dependent!

No, the pages are created in Adobe Illustrator and then I convert them to a jpeg.

I could make each park into a 4x6 page if you want and put it on my site for you to download, would that work? That is what I'd origianlly planned to do to put in my binder but now I don't have the blank pages. Although for me I am glad, this will be easier to whip out and read I think.

Good idea on the ADR's...Seriously you've had one get lost in the system? What a nightmare! I actually put them in outlook so I'll have them on my phone.

And yes, that is totally OCD but it is quick access to the reservation number!

:rotfl:

Aww, thanks! I think it's going to work a million times better than my last one. I didn't put DTD on there though as it wouldn't fit but since it will be Goofy's or bust I figured I didn't need it on there. I might have to try and add it for CS though....hmmn.

There is another word Jeff uses...it starts with an A. And for all the grief he gives me about it, he loves it. I'm this OCD for any trip we do, it's half the fun! Ok maybe not the pages but all the research.

You should have seen his face light up yesterday when I showed him that Jimmy Buffet's Grumman Albatross Seaplane, the Hemisphere Dance,r is now "parked" next to Margaritaville at City Walk in it's own new airport..the Lone Palm. Which is of course a bar. And we will go there the first day. he loves that plane! He's read about it in Buffets book and is of course obsessed with seaplanes.

I was going to keep it a surprise but it was just too cool.

I am however not telling him about Jakes American Bar at the RP which is also seaplane themed...hee hee. I forsee at least 2 shirts/tanktops or hats in his future.

And it's true. But I'm ok with it :rotfl:

You should meet my mother. She's worse! But in a good way. She would have touring plans like Jordan's. She is a trainer...'nuff said.

Yeah, CS is horrid at DHS. We did ok eating at Starring Rolls last time but it's a really limited menu so either we order the exact same stuff or... since we are staying at YC I'd rather go back there or to the Boardwalk for lunch! 'Cuz we can WALK to it!

I'm so excited about staying there for the food options as much as anything, so many choices right there!

I'll put the pages on my site but probably pull off the BC/YC/Boardwalk stuff so it's more multi-purpose for folks.

Let me try first copything the picture and resizing it before you go to truoble.

I have my ADRs on my Blackberry, so I totally don't think it's OCD.

I have so got to get dh to set up our new printer!!

Very cool!! I like the size - I like the binder!! I do think you need to add the trivia cards!! ;)

I have 4x5 index size trivia, park touring info... its not c/p well here - -

Before lunch/ (this tells best time to tour attractions - ie column 1)
After dinner\

(column 2 Describes attraction)
Pirates of the Caribbean: It’s a pirates’ life for you. This Magic Kingdom ‘classic’ takes you back in time to the age of pirates and their favorite activity: looting and pillaging seaside villages! If open, choose left line. First part, present time, after slide, back to the past. Slide below train track. Three generations of animatronics. Before 11:30 a.m., during parade or after 5:00 p.m. Time: 9 min. (again, best times and length)

SpectroMagic Parade: Prepare to be dazzled by over 600,000 lights! They cover every parade float and every one of your favorite Disney characters!

Arrive: 50 min. earlier. (HINTS)

If 2 showings, 2nd is less crowded. Has 600,000 lights. Practical Pig dips magical paintbrush in bucket of color & changes floats & characters from white to color. Represents changing of black & white animation to color. Walt was 1st one.
Best views:
*Go back to dumbo spot.
*The ‘river’ side of Frontierland by a large tree at the beginning of the parade near the entrance gate.
*Across the Liberty Bell to left side of the ‘public stalks’ in front of the Riverboat landing, but away from cross walk area.
*In front of Frontierland Shooting Arcade. There’s a planter to sit close to the ropes.
*Directly in front of Hall of Presidents and near Liberty Square bridge.
*On the Frontier Trading Post side of the crosswalk near the Country Bear Jamboree
Avoid the bridge/walkway that passes directly in front of Splash Mountain and other that leads to Big Thunder Mountain.
*Watch from the Flag Pole to leave soon after Wishes.
Time: 25 min.

Okay--I did that and it worked. Thanks!

Cool! I will still put them on my site so if you run into any resolution issues with the one you copied you can try those if you want.

I won't have room to describe attractions and don't think I need it in the binder but am versus pm, and best view info are things I can maybe incorporate. Hmmnn. Thanks!

Okay, caught up now! I was gone for a few days...

Glad to hear your FIL is hopefully out of the woods? These drawn out medical processes really are draining.

Your pocket guide/binder is very cute! What a great size, and I am impressed with the pages -- remind me of digital scrap booking, nicely put together!!! :thumbsup2

Did you have a page for DTD? Did you decide on that final "slot"?

neat card case!

Bummed you're not on right now- cuz I wanted to thank you "in person" for the special package that arrived on Saturday!!!! WOOHOO!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

I posted what the darker ribbon looks like on my PTR. I think it turned out fab. I love it!!!

Not so happy with maroo's yet, but will try again later today.

You are the binder goddess!!! :worship: I love it!! Hmmm, last page? Yeah, showtimes? ADR numbers? Fast Pass Attraction list?

Oh my gawrsh! Those pages are amazing!

They look more like scrapbook pages than the average binder fodder!

Words are not adequate....:worship::worship: to your binder greatness.

:rotfl:

but thanks.

I wouldn't say he is out of the woods, it is probable that he will need surgery to remove the main mass and then not sure about this "medium" spot and that they will want to biopsy the main one and possibly the other one too. MEK did a great run down on what might happen and it sounds consistent with what they've heard so far but hopefully, the medical appointment gods willing, they will actually meet the surgeon today and we will have an official plan. However the fact that the original mass didn't light up on the PET scan and there were no additional "hot" areas is super encouraging we think.

I've never done digital scrapbooking lol.

I don't have a page for DTD although I am going to add DTD CS to my CS sheet. I don't see us going there for that but you never know. Snacks....No where to fit it! Unless I get creative. We will see. What I could do is put the resort specific CS and Snacks on that last page but I do like having it all together. Not sure on the last page at all, getting lots of good ideas.

Thanks on the card case, going to sit on that one for a while but I really like it.

The cards I made I had dh print them onto index cards - then he put a hole punch in the corner - and put a circle clip - and I carried the one for the park in my Rick Steeve's shoulder day bag - and when we waited in line or waited for a show, we would read the trivia cards - this time I'm going to do it for Hidden Mickey's - I found a good site - but I bookmarked it on DH's laptop - so I'll c/p it when I get the mac back!!

ahhh....I see....

Ok Jeff would give me unending grief if I did that. BUT I could make the boys a set to read on the plane and they would get the hugest kick out of it. Hmmn. This could be a fun project. I am however not trying to add to the general, overall amount of stuff I am carrying in my bag or binder so I have to be careful.

I do!! Hey, you're up!!

that was just a figment of your imagination!!

;)

Who's up? Huh?

I'm not. Not really.

awww. Thanks!
