I think your daily plan looks fun! Good choices. Well I only know that our experience with FPs is that some machines were open during EMH, but I can't really remember ... The issue is that if you get a FP for something that is not "crowded" generally, the return time will be earlier, and if that is within two hours, then you can get another FP for another ride "faster" than 2 hours... does that make sense? Like on the Jungle Cruise this past year the "wait time" was 30 minutes. But the FP return time showed 40 minutes away .. so ten minutes difference. So we got the FP but because the return time was within that two hours, we could get another FP right away. Does that make sense? And we could go back to the JC at any point, not "40 minutes" unless we wanted to... and no waiting in a 30 minute line. Does this make sense?

FP Test Track, for instance, FIRST. Then go get your FP for Soarin, b/c you will be able to get that FP within an hour... and would be able to ride both before noon... We have in the past went straight to get FPs for Soarin. BUT on our last day at Epcot we flipped this approach. And I am so glad we did. The FP return for our first ride on Soarin was 12:30 I think.. something right around noon... Anyhow, we were not going to stand in that TT line again after the last time, but that was how we did it... though we have been to Epcot where there IS no line for TT, so it just depends I guess... Anyhow, the first part of my advice is true. because that way you get your second set sooner.

Morning Cynthia!

Day four looks good - albeit packed! I'm looking forward to the buffet at 1900 also, it does look a little different.

I think I missed day 3 - is that when you're planning to tour WL that you guys have been talking about?

Right! So the bottom line is, it is at MOST two hours. right? Less if your return time is within the two hours. It could be sooner and whether you use the first set in before that window opens doesn't matter. Right?

Interesting on TT versus Soarin. I was assuming Soarin first as we had huge problems getting on it last year but not so with TT. The challenge we will have with Epcot either way is we are banking on evening EMH there, we don't have a morning scheduled unless it becomes the choise on a free choice morning. Last year Epcot didn't have evening EMH FP's for Soarin'....But DHS did...but only for RRC and TOT, not for TSM.

We will just roll with it. :rotfl: and try not go get too :confused3 We completely did NOT get that last time and missed out. Gonna try to work it a heck of a lot better this trip.

Morning Rebecca! I am so excited about this one. We were talking at K's b-day dinner last night about our dining choices and she wanted to confirm that we were NOT going to PTC as she did get rather picked on by our CM last time. I just grinned and said...no, we aren't going anywhere YOU will get picked on.

Taylor however, is a totally different story for 1900! Should be fun and that menu looks so good!

Day 3 is a semi lazy morning (flexible start) Typhoon Lagoon, DTD/Disney Quest, Raglan Road for dinner, meeting up with a college friend and her mom who are joining us for dinner and then back for the Electric Boat Parade and Wishes.

Good Morning Cynthia !!!

Morning Rosie!

in other trip notes, I've been a last minute shoe shopping maniac. I had some issues with my favorite privo's on a recent hike so need a backup. Found a pair that I'm keeping but just now, think I found something better!

:rotfl:

What's one more pair of shoes anyway.

SO close to being done but think the August trip is a great idea....I'm getting dog day summer sale prices at some of my favorite places and it's been wonderful! Scored at Title Nine yesterday. :thumbsup2

I am all caught up with your last couple of days. It has been interesting to read the FP discussion. Our last trip to WDW was a year ago, and I didn't know that you could use the FP after the window of time had passed either. So we skipped getting a lot of FP's because we would be leaving the park for Dylan's nap time during that time. Right after we got home from that trip, I figured out (through the Dis) that we could have used them when we came back that evening. :headache: At least we know for our next trip.

And yes, the FP have a time on it that you can get another one (if it goes past the 2 hour window). We saw that on one of our last trips to DL.

I am so excited for your trip! I love your 2 weeks from now section because it is really fun to see all of the details BEFORE you go on your trip.

I think having this day be more flexible in the morning is a good idea. Switching hotels is always stressful so not having an agenda is the best way to go. :thumbsup2

I have to say that one of my all time favorite WDW memories is when Todd & I went on a trip w/ Todd's parents (who had never been there). We took them to the Boardwalk area one night and walked all around, and we ended up on some beach chairs near SAB. The pool was closed and we were the only one's sitting out there. I realized now that we probably weren't supposed to be there, but no one kicked us out. We had a wonderful talk for about 1 1/2 hours and it was so peaceful looking at the lights across the water. :cloud9: I will never forget how everything felt so right with the world at that moment.

So when you said "we'll just chill out on balconies, wherever", it brought back that memory. I hope you get some quiet, relaxing moments on your trip!

We definitely missed out on getting more FP's than we could have, we figured out part of it during the trip but not the "best" way to use them as the more savvy DISers have explained! It's funny, I almost didn't bring it up as I feel like I should "know" but I'm so glad I did!

Naptime is hard to work around, and predict but next time will be that much easier for you guys! of course teen burnout is about the same drama to deal with :rotfl:

I'm hoping it won't be too stressful, no car to load, they will move our stuff and no reason I can't go check us in without everyone else but...I still think just leaving it open is best.

I love your story about chilling in the beach chairs, those are the best moments and I love that it brought up that memory!
I will never forget how everything felt so right with the world at that moment.

I love that. It just doesn't get any better.

I hope we have that kind of special moment during the trip too, maybe that night!

I can't believe your trip is so close!
There's no such thing as too many pairs of shoes. How many are you planning on bringing to WDW?

Good question, I'm not sure. Probably 3x too many according to most folks!

I've got 9 on the list....

2 pool flip flops. I could get totally away with one but they don't take up much space :rotfl:
1 wedge heel that is wicked comfy with a rubber sole
1 dressier sandal. Not quite a park shoe but can wear and walk in for a decent amount of time.

3-5 park shoes. :rotfl: that's where it get's tricky for me. I am deathly paranoid of blisters and have had major issues in the past. It's not the shoes so much, it's how my feet do in heat and humidity...somehow the skin becomes ridiculously fragile and gets beat up a bazillion times faster than would happen at home. So I'm trying to make sure I have a good mix of styles and where the straps hit so that I can rotate, I'll probably wear 3 different pairs each day, one in the am, one at the pool and a different one in the pm.

I can't do tennis shoes, doesn't matter how broken in those are (and for me, they belong in the gym, not to walk in anyway), I'd get too hot and would definitely get blisters.

Brands are Earth, Noat, Privo (2) and Keen

So I've got 2 that have back straps (earth and privo), 2 that are thong style (keen and privo-which has back straps), and 2 that are slides (noat and privo).

The Privo slides I just ordered today so we will see, they should be here by Tuesday. I like the Noat's quite a bit so may stick with just those but, wanted to check this last pair out. quite frankly I'd thought I was done but then last weekend did a 7 mile walk in the privo sandals and got a heel blister due to the straps and it made me super paranoid so the list went from 7 to 9 overnight to try and find a dressier slide that is also a walking show. Not to mention putting zappos through it's paces!

I'm on the fence about the Keen's...they are tried and true but match with a lot less than the others. But...they are tried and true. Kind of like a security blanket but they may not make the cut.

So...we will see. Guessing it will be 7 or 8. Everyone else will bring 3 I think. :rotfl: But hey, I did most of my packing today to check weight on all the toiletries and supplies and I can get it all in my suitcase and stay under the weight limit so...I will likely follow Jeff's packing philosophy. Which is, if it fits, take it. Of course he wishes there were more heels. Nice thing about summer clothes and shoes is...they don't take up much space.

I took 7 on the spring break trip...wore 6 of them so did ok. Either way I'm positive everything int he line up will get worn more than once. Or if equally rotated, 4-5 times each!

Of course if I bring tennis shoes, so we can hit the gym...that will up it one more. And if I do, they'll be going into Jeff's suitcase!

Which reminds me, he still hasn't gotten new shoes. :scared1:

How many are you bringing?

I'm prone to blisters in that heat and like to bring lots of options.
I agree with Jeff's philosophy; take whatever fits!
I'm bringing my Nikes, but probably won't wear them for more than the airport and maybe short outings in the morning. I'm also bringing my Nike Celso flip flops in a couple of colors. They are my favorite and much more comfy than Teva mushies. BUT, I'll probably order a new pair of mushies and bring those :rotfl: I have to order new Chuck Taylors for my nephews for the GF photo session, so I may just throw in some stuff for me ;) How fast does Zappos usually ship?

Are you bringing blister supplies? I'm thinking I need to make a little blister kit to take along.

I have a full foot care kit packed! Blister bandaids, which are the BOMB in my opinion and worth every penny, glide, moleskin, baby powder and an assortment of related foot supplies.

On the shipping. It depends. :rotfl:

Technically it's about a week I think with the free shipping. However if you are a regular customer you pretty much always get automatically upgraded to overnight. I can't recall the last time something didn't get overnighted. So for me, usually 1-2 days depending on when I ordered it. The ones I ordered yesterday will be here tomorrow.

I made the mistake of saying that to my mom and she ordered some on a Sunday, for my sisters Friday wedding and they didn't arrive till the following Monday. If you've never ordered from them before I'd assume normal ground shipping times to be safe.

I have a pair of mushies but aren't bringing them. I like the Haviana's better for the pool and as comfy as mushies are...there is almost soemthing sticky about them, I think due to the black sole.

Need to get K a pair of mushies, or something decent today! She's prone to issues and I am worried about it. Hopefully she packs her running shoes as well. Most of her flip flops are pretty crummy. We just found out yesterday that they will be out of town until they day before we leave so we will not have the chance to really look through their bags like we would have preferred.

I got Evan new Nike's yesterday (yay for Penney's! saved at least $20), he'd outgrown his running shoes and I didn't realize it so he's bringing those, reef flip flops and his vans.

Eric will have a pair of New Balance tennis shoes, timberland sandals and his crocs.

Jeff ordered some new puma's last night from Zappos, they will probably be here tomorrow and will bring his Keens and some nice Aldo sandals he has, plus his Asics. So I guess 4 for him.

Taylor has some kind of funky aqua hiking sandal that he loves. He's done some intense hiking it in so plans for those to be his main shoe, probably with some vans, flip flops and espadrilles. Guessing he brings 4 but we will see.

First things first.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KENDALL!!!!!!!!

:bday:

We celebrated with a family dinner and gifts friday night, she loves her Tink! Last night she and I and one of her friends went and saw a good chick flick, Charlie St. Cloud. Today, her actual bday will be a bday breakfast (if she ever gets up) and a trip to the mall for park shoes and a quick exchange on the shorts I got her. I of course thing they fit but...she wants a smaller size. Ugh. :rotfl:

Day 6 brings us to our first full day with Sandie and Paul. And it's a BUSY one! This is a day I'm really hoping to get a move on early and beat the heat at the hottest park around.

AM Touring Plan - Animal Kingdom and Storm Along Bay

And...in other exciting news.... I did online check in this morning for our WL ressie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish there was a way in the online check in form to type in room requests so I could ask about the bunk bed situation but oh well.

Here's my advice on Kali. There is the distinct possibility that you will be completely soaked on it. On this trip, we decided to grab Fast Passes for it, and then, we made it our last ride of the morning before heading back to the resort. I am glad we did, because, as usual, there was nothing dry on us afterwards. It was nice to be able to change shortly after. Also, I don't know what your kids are planning on wearing for footwear that day, but my two like to wear tennis shoes in the park. Both of them tossed their flip flops into Chelsea's bag and changed right before riding Kali. That way they didn't have to worry about wet socks and tennis shoes. That one was all Chelsea's idea! :thumbsup2

I figure we will play that one by ear, as long as we have at least one set of FP's we will be good but the boys will want to go more than once I know. It will be so hot though, we should dry quickly. It's a toss up, wet on the bus or wet walking around. :rotfl: I will be wearing quick dry shorts and I'm pretty sure everyone will have sandals of some sort, it's just safer that way but if not, you are right, we will need to bring flip flops with us, that's a great point. And I'll need to warn/educate Sandie and Paul. Who will probably wimp out on it anyway lol!

K is probably the biggest challenge as she lives in jeans shorts...which don't dry.

I agree with Jackie on the Kali ride... my kids wore swim trunks... it was a good idea! We dried off fast, but there have been times when being wet from Kali wasn't ideal.... a few years ago we went straight from that ride to dinner... read AC and COLD..... So I would say either wear waterproof shoes or flip flops - non leather! And/or light clothing, or fabric that wicks water away -- you will dry off if you have to deal with the wet! It is possible to use ponchos too. :upsidedow

OHHHHHHHHHHHHH. And in MY opinion, there are never too many shoes.

Okay Cynthia I am using your tips to tweal my plans !!Your times for Nemo and FOTLK were different to what I had but as I was looking at an old schedule I am sure you are right !!Also added in The Village Beatniks !!!

Oh yeah, there will be NO Kali our fist night at AK, not going from it to dinner. No way, no how. :rotfl: For our daytime AK the E's will wear their suits for sure, K will likely have hers on underneath. But you are making a VERY good argument for the Keens to make the cut!

:rotfl:

Although I don't think the privo's or earth shoes are actually leather...the soles will dry fast but I should check what the material is.

But I totally agree with both of you, we will have to dress carefully!

:goodvibes

I pulled the times about a week ago so hopefully they are right!

I agree about Kali... last ride of the day! :thumbsup2 And I think I'll be taking HappyDog's advice and having the boys wear swim shorts on our AK day!
