Ethics aside, is there any reason why I shouldn't lie that my 3 yr old is 2 in order to get out of buying his ticket? Obviously, most people don't carry a birth certificate with them to the park, so it would be difficult to police.
Any thoughts?

Just buy it - why sell out your morals to save a few bucks?

Besides - does your child know they are 3?

You will be really embarassed if you say they are 2 and they insist they are 3. LOL

Lets see
You'll be setting a bad exaple for your child
You will be commiting a crime (theft of services and or theft by deception)

If you can't afford to buy the ticket don't go to WDW.

My daughter will be 3 a couple of weeks before we leave and we bought her a ticket. If they happen to ask him how old they'll be won't you be embarrassed if you get caught in a lie? Besides morals, what about teaching your child the value of telling the truth!!!!

If you want to get him in free plan a trip prior to his turning 3!!!

Most toddlers and small children are very proud when they have had a birthday and will announce it loudly. Sometimes they even believe that Mommy and Daddy have forgotten that they had a birthday. I would think it would be very embarassing to be corrected by your toddler.

do it...it's no big deal. We all tell little lies...the mouse will get the money anyway.

Ethics aside? Umm...looks like you already have your mind made up. Why ask?

You are asking if it is OK to cheat/steal as long as you don't get caught.

Would you want to have a person who thinks that is OK for a friend? Spouse? Parent? Child?

What do you think would happen if everyone believed it was OK and behaved accordingly? Would you want to live in such a society?

Your question. Your conscience. Your decision.

Oh no, I sold the morals a long time ago

It sounds like you already made up your mind, so why did you ask?

I was tempted to do this with my DD a few years back but I didn't because of an incident I saw on a previous trip- There was a family about to go into the gate with a child that looked on the edge for the age thing, the CM was being friendly with the child and asked how old are you? The child answered I just turned 3! The CM looked at the parent and the parent scrambled to answer and said ummm...he's still free right? The CM politely told them he was not and told them they could purchase a ticket right over at the ticket booths. As the family walked away the parents started fighting and yelling at each other saying you should've just told her he was 2 and the kid was crying because he was being dragged away from the gate and didn't understand why.

Now if it's worth it to risk having this happen then go ahead. But personally it's just not worth it to me.

I never understand why some think everyone lies.

That aside you are right Disney will get the money.

They will get it from me and every other person that thinks this is wrong. Disney knows people lie about their children's ages and they cover that cost somewhere else.

Thanks for contributing to that.

My daughter is 9 and will turn 10 2 days after we arrive at WDW. When I made the reservation I bought her a child's pass. Because of her birthday happening and 10 year olds + are more, what should I do? Pay at the 10 year old level or leave it alone? Is there a moral problem with that? When we check in she will be still 9.

You will still be able to use the child's pass. Disney goes by the child's age when you check in. :)

I *think* it goes by the age of your child at check in. There was thread awhile back where someone reported they were told that when the same problem occured.

I had the opposite problem. I had the 2 1/2 yr. old girl that looked a lot older. (when she spoke you could tell she was 2 though). I did carry her birth certificate with me just in case I was questioned. No one ever asked to see it.

She's now 7 and is the size of a 9 yr. old (tall and thin ;) ). She may look 9 but she can still throw a tantrum like the first grader she is :) :)

I happen to still carry my morals - and have passed them onto my girls ...........I would buy the ticket.

A little bored and you thought trolling might keep you entertained for a while???

You will be really embarassed if you say they are 2 and they insist they are 3.

Kids are funny like that, aren't they? They do love to brag about how old they are...especially right after they celebrate a birthday. However, in this case, I doubt that will be a problem. People who do this sort of thing usually teach their kids all the tricks of the trade by the time they learn to speak. I'm sure the little darling has long ago been taught to keep her mouth shut when mommy and daddy are lying.

Why not move the date of the trip up so that the child doesn't have to get a ticket?

What happens when it's time for meals? 3 year olds do not eat free.

If you can't afford to pay for the tickets, maybe you shouldn't take the trip.

I hear you DISKIM....My GF'S son is slightly BIG for his age...but she thinks she may be able to slip him past the CM's at the gates. What do you think? (LOL)
