We are currently booked at the VGF in a resort studio, 07/05-07/08/205. We are taking this sister trip together to celebrate our mom, who passed away - her birthday is 07/07 . However, I guess I wasn't paying attention and didn't realize there is a ton of construction going on at VGF. I am starting to think we may want to stay somewhere else. Has anyone been there recently? Is the construction obstructing the beauty of the Grand Floridian? We were looking to stay somewhere special over our mom's birthday.
Thank you in advance for your help!

Rivera Resort!!!

I am staying there in June for the 3rd time. The rooms are beautiful. The resort is very contained.
Great quiet pool with cushioned lounge chairs.

Food - Le Petite Cafe, Bar Riva and Primo Piatto....and don't forget Topolino's Terrace with a roof top patio to watch fireworks, after dinner or cocktails. All Yummy!

Skyliner to Epcot (Boardwalk Area) and to Hollywood Studios. Plus, so much more.

It is my favorite DVC and I have stayed at VGF twice. The difference its not a regular hotel, so most guest are staying at Rivera, quieter.

Good luck with your plans, what a lovely way to honor your Mom.

If you enjoy spending time in the lobby, you may want to re-think your plans. It's pretty torn up and kind of a mess right now. I think it's mainly the lobby at this point, and who knows what by July! Hope you have a great trip and can celebrate your mom!

The GF lobby is much less awe-inspiring with construction walls up, but you’ll notice the construction less when out in the villas buildings. So it really depends why you picked that location…was it because it’s the Fancy Flagship Resort or because your mom loved it? If she loved it, stay there anyway. If it’s just because it’s “special” seeming, pick somewhere else.

Did your mom have a favorite vacation destination? Try to find somewhere that suits her likes, such as Poly if she loved Hawaii, AKV if she loved animals, CCV or BRV or the C@FW if she loved camping, OKW if she loved Florida, etc.
