Can someone please satisfy my curiosity -

At PhilharMagic, Fantasmic, and a few other shows, I've noticed a libretto (the words being sung/spoken on stage) being flashed along a 'neon-zipper', but backwards.

While I might assume that this is to assist the hearing impaired, I cannot understand how it works.

Are there mirrored devices that peopled use to look behind them to then read from the libretto running across the 'neon-zipper'??

Yes, it's to assist the hearing impaired. In the back of the theater they have stands that hold sort of mirrors that the person sits and places that in front to read while the show goes on
