Liberty Tree Tavern Question...

We've only been there once for dinner, and it was ok, but nothing great great. We aren't super into characters, so...

However, lunch at LTT is one of our favorite meals. We book a late ADR, near the end of lunch service (like 1:30-2), and it's a nice quiet, cool break during our MK day. The food is good, and we enjoy the atmosphere.

So to answer your question, OP, I'd say the appeal for dinner is that the food is pretty simple, no surprises, and there are characters. I personally don't love it. For lunch, though, it's great.

I skimmed through all of the posts and I don't thikn anyone gave the reason why we went. It has the lowest customer to character ratio, so that means the least amount of sharing the characters. That was a real draw to us. We also like family style meals as kids are young and that means it's easier to get plates filled in a timely fashion. Yes, the food is a lot like Thanksgiving dinner, but I like Thanksgiving dinner.

Plus it's a hoot to hear them announce, "The Liberty Tree Tavern would like to welcome the X family, from the territory of Ohio."

We aren't crazy about it at all.

It's a bit overhyped, IMHO, due to it's popularity for eating at before/during the parties because it's 'festive' but the food makes us not want to go back.

To each their own.

Our reasons may be different from most others. We´ve never had a Thanksgiving meal before (it isn´t celebrated here in Iceland) and will now for the first time be in the US during this holiday, at WDW. We think it might be fun to try something as close to "the real deal" as possible and still enjoy Disney.

1) Dinner is a character meal Character meals are quite popular.

2) It's one of the better food choices in the Magic Kingdom. (There aren't a lot of full-service restaurant choices in the Magic Kingdom.)

Ok, we did not love the food (it's not terrible, it's just ordinary). I probably won't ever do it again because there are so many places we haven't tried. The characters were great though. I did love the atmosphere and the characters in costumes. We had great character interaction!! Maybe the best of all four we did that year. I don't regret doing it, it was our first ts meal ever at WDW and I'll have to admit that did worry me about what other meals were going to be like, but all the rest were really good. Sometimes, it's about the experience not the food. We all enjoyed ourselves and that's what counts!

we love lunch at LTT - no characters - crab cakes appetizer, turkey dinner - nice cool break from the sun/crowds

We love LTT! We make an ADR every time we go. The food is good, and the kids love it. Character interaction is good, will be back this Sept.
:cheer2:

Thanks everyone. I guess I kind of get it now. Its about the holiday feel and the characters. I have come to the conclusion that I just love food too much to give up my ts for restaurants just bc they have good characters or good character interaction. And yes, I have kids, and yes, they are small, and yes, I am selfish (not really..LOL), but honestly, I really think there is so much great food to be had at WDW. I just couldn't justify this meal. But I know that's just me....not knocking anyone else's preferences. And, the other thing is that I honestly HATE Thanksgiving food, especially Turkey. OH yeah, and I don't like Stouffers Mac and Cheese either. So I guess that does it for me. I didn't book it, and now I am pretty sure I made the right decision...for us anyway. thanks everyone. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing out on anything. Those who are going...enjoy!!! And feel free to eat all the Turkey and mac and cheese your little hearts desire!!! LOL

This thread did the opposite for me....I had taken LTT as an alternative when I couldn't get Chef mickey, and was not at all sold on LTT, it just didn't look interesting. But my kids LOVE thanksgiving food, turkey is one of the few meats that DS 5 will actually eat, and alongside his favourite food, mac n cheese, this menu will probably be the biggest hit of all for him. DH and I will just be happy to get to sit and have food brought to us, we won't really care what it is!!

we went several years ago and it was fine...we all enjoyed it and that was that. We went again this past Oct during MNSSHP...and my kids LOVED the food. It is like comfort food served family style, and with Goofy and the gang to top it off. We all enjoyed it so much my kids put it at the top of their list as a place to go this June.

I made a 3:45 ADR during MNSSHP. We did it because it was a change of scene and my 3 kids LOVED it. We got in/out quickly too.

No way a TV dinner or happy meal or whatever else it has been called. Salad was excellent! Cant get that in a tv dinner.

Try it out and when your done you step out into the MK!! What more can you ask for!

We went last year and thought the food was ok, but the character interaction was great. One of the best of all the restaurants we went to.

Here's what I don't get--if a restaurant doesn't appeal to you, then DON'T GO! There's really no need to start a thread that makes it seem like people are crazy for liking a certain restaurant. I just don't get it.

Or atleast ask people what they like about it, instead of phrasing it like some people do on here.

Gee, sorry emmabemmainc...
I didn't think I was implying that people were crazy for liking anything they choose to like. I don't like Turkey dinner food, but sometimes people can prejudge things and need to hear from others to make sure that they made the right decision. Sometimes other people's opinions help you to see things differently. That's what so cool about this disboard. So, sorry if my post bothered you. I put it up because I wanted to hear more about LTT, not to upset people who like the place. It really wasn't a big deal.

We booked there because it was the very first time we would ever have a Thanksgiving type of meal and because we love Minnie Mouse.
We will go back for the same reasons!

We just returned from WDW. I did an ADR for Liberty Tree Tavern for the 5 adults and our son who is 2. We were all extremly dissappointed. The food, the character interaction, the service were all below Disney standards. I thought it was going to be a good pick and after doing Character breakfasts at both Hollywood and Vine and Crystal palace. For the price, I would totally pass up doing a Character dinner again and just stick to the breakfasts.

It's a Thanksgiving type meal, but there are actually three meats, turkey, roast beef and roast pork. The roast beef was the best I've ever had. I don't eat fruit, even in desserts, and I mentioned this to our server and asked if I could just have a scoop of the ice cream. He brought me a bowl with 3 of the biggest scoops I've ever seen. And Chip and Dale were at our table so much, we thought we must look like chipmunks.

We usually alternate on trips between LTT and Chef Mickey's. I think the character interaction is better at LTT.

DH's favorite meal ever is Thanksgiving dinner. Sometimes the menu is what draws people in. We tried it once on our last trip and will go again on our next!
