Day 13 Saturday August 8th
It was really, really hard to get up this morning and once again quite late before we got to the food court. Im not sure if being a Saturday added to the crowds but the place was mobbed. We opted for pastries and drinks as there were no queues for these and the lines waiting for cooked breakfasts were very long.
As we near the end of our holiday we are planning a little more than at the beginning. Today we are going to have our final visit to Epcot.
After breakfast we drive to Epcot and arrive at quite a tricky time. World showcase hasnt opened but the crowds are building up and are all contained within future world. We should have arrived an hour earlier or an hour later.
Segway being used in car park.
Our first destination is Test Track to get fast passes for later. Once we have these we go and join the green queue for Mission Space (or Mission Mac as its now known in my family!) We enjoy this ride a lot.
Next we go to the Universe of Energy. (I could certainly do with some energy as Im really flagging now!) As soon as I sit down on the carpet to wait a CM comes in and asks everyone to stand up. I can see why we need to stand as its very dim.
Now the first time I went on this ride (actually the only time up until now) I had no idea who Ellen was, now she seems to be on TV all the time! Anyway this attraction was the much longer and much, much more boring than I remember! It did have a very sensible message about conserving energy but this was really spoilt by the rather disturbing ending - Dont worry, we may be running out of fossil fuels but we can still find more oil!
While we are wandering around future world we see the closed up Wonders of Life pavilion. Its always sad to see a closed up attraction.
We spend a little time at Innovations before going to Test Track. Despite fast passes we still have a long wait (but only a fraction of the 90 minutes that is now showing for standby guests.) Although I enjoy this ride and understand that its designed for maximum passenger through-put, and I do understand that a lot of families are larger than our group of 4, I never the less dont like sharing our car with strangers. Perhaps it is too like a real car as I dont feel like this on other rides where I sit next to strangers.
After this we walk over to Figment. We werent at all impressed by this attraction and I dont think that anyone else can be as there is absolutely no queue.
After having lunch at the Electric Umbrella we get the boat across the lagoon.
We visit Italy, Germany and China. We managed to miss doing these properly the other day. I love mooching around the shops and looking at the architecture.
Its now time to leave so on our way out of Epcot we visit the camera centre and buy a print of the photo that was taken at the Animal Kingdom yesterday.
There is one last hotel that I particularly want to visit this trip so we drive over to Pop Century. It is a very shiny, new looking hotel. It is very similar to the All Stars resorts but seems bigger and busier. We buy ice cream at the food court this is a very odd set up with the shop attached to it. It takes forever to get served and then we have to join a very slow queue to pay for it. Id hate to be here at a busy time of day.
After ice cream we go outside to take photos. This hotel is much more in-your-face Disney than ASSp or ASMu and I enjoy taking photos. We dont get to venture far before big spots of rain appear and we decide to go back to the car before they get any worse.
Its gone 4 now so we head back to ASMu for a rest. I have a very bad headache so I try to get some sleep while DH and the kids just rest for a while watching TV and playing with their DSs.
Much later on we head over to ASSp as I want to take a photo of the kids with the Mickey statue which I have done on every visit to WDW. As we walk through the car park DH and DS decide that they want to take a closer look at the Celebrity Hall.
While we are over there we stop at the food court for tea. I order a pizza and am given a pager. I wait and wait. The rest of the family finish their meals. The pager occasionally chirps so DH take it to the window and is sent back by a grumpy cook. I dont think the pager is working properly as a few minutes later it gives a half stangled beep and gives one flash before stopping. This time I go over to the window and surprise, surprise there is my pizza sitting on the side as if its been there a few minutes. I tell the CM that the pager seems faulty but I dont think she understands as she just puts it back on the recharging station. Anyway the pizza was vey nice.
We then return to ASMu for a restful evening at the hotel. Im not sure how we are going to get through the next two days as we are so tired. I dont think weve been over doing things either (as we did in 2005!)
