LGB or SNA???

My deciding factor was that I like flying Jet Blue better than flying any other airline. I know it isn't a long flight (I fly from Oakland), but ending up a bit farther away from Disneyland was worth the nicer flight experience for me.

I've heard great things about JetBlue. Can you tell me what makes the experience nicer?

You get to select your seats when you book. The seats are roomier and more comfortable than on other airlines. Every seat has its own TV, which means you don't have to figure out how to keep your 4 year old from watching Mission Impossible 3 on the monitors positioned through the plane for everyone to see, like happened on a cross country flight on Delta. (Moot point on a short flight, but still, it is one of the thinks I like about JetBlue.) I have flown them across country and back a couple times, as well as down to Long Beach and home, and I have yet to have had a flight delayed. (In fact, we almost once left early except they had to wait for one last passenger to board.) I just haven't had a negative experience, and that is pretty rare with air travel these days.

We latley have flown into Burbank...

Its a very small airport, security goes fast, and your in and out quickly...

The downside is its about a 2 hour drive to disneyland...

Upside is its much cheaper..

It just hit me this morning that I could drive if I really wanted to. It's about 6 hours from where I live. We drove last time and were making good time until we hit LA during Friday afternoon rush hour. What should have taken 30 minutes took two hours. I don't want to repeat that experience, but driving does give us the freedom to arrive and leave when we want.

I still think I'll fly, but this is another twist I'm considering.

If you're coming in from Arizona or Nevada you can sneak in through the Inland Empire and then through Orange County to avoid the Los Angeles traffic. The 91 freeway in the morning is terrible going into Orange County in the morning but it's downright pleasant after noon. The 60 can be rough going due to a lot of commercial traffic and just plain bad drivers. If you're using the I-15 I'd stay on it until you hit the 91.

I'd love to go through the Inland Empire, but I'd be coming in from the North on I-5.

I just found this:

SFO to LAX on Virgin America for $476 (2 adults/2 children). I'm very tempted by this. I don't want to drive to SFO (it's two hours away), but we have friends there we could stay with the night before. Very very tempting. I don't like flying into LAX, but getting to DLR shouldn't be bad if we take the Disney Express.

I really like LGB, I can't comment on SNA. JetBlue is great and I liked the neighborhood drive from the airport to DL.

I love LGB. I have flown both JetBlue and Delta into LGB, and both were great.l I love how small it is, and no hassles with security lines. I haven't flown into SNA, but have heard it is good, just always been more pricey.

I would never fly into LAX for DL, though. Too long of a drive and horribly long security lines.

Good luck to you. I have only heard bad things about LAX (which is why I've never flown in there. And because we always go to Orange County, not L.A.)

I have a 3-Day Royal Caribbean cruise leaving from Long Beach/San Pedro at the end of the month. Of course, I'm flying out as late as possible for my return trip so that I can spend the day at Disneyland.

I fly in to LGB and fly out of SNA, so I'll be able to compare the 2 airports for our (hopeful) DLR trip in October.

It cant be too bad. It cuts about 3-4+ hours off since that is the only direct flight we can get & meets the hours we needed. We are not checking any bags so we can go straight out to meet our shuttle once we get off the plane.

well, that's good at least. we have no direct flights to CA from where we live.

Good luck. When you fly back, make sure you get there early because on a slow day, thier security takes 90 minutes. 2-3 hours if busy.

And, wow, I am impressed with not having to check anything. With the airline liquid restrictions, we always have to check stuff now.

My older son and I flew SW from OAK to LAX for a trip to Disneyland a few years ago. It was during some horrible stormy weather which caused our flight to be delayed, and I hadn't quite figured out the Disneyland Express situation quite right, so door-to-door, the trip took us as long as it had taken us to drive from our home in Marin County to Disneyland the previous year.
