In late October, DH will be driving from our home in Michigan to Orlando stopping along the way to visit friends, etc. DD (9 yo) and I will be flying in a week or so later and DH will meet us at the airport. Our flight arrives at MCO around 7:30 p.m.

We're staying at the WL (I've never stayed there before and we're very excited). We have one night of room only and then a 7 night FTP. The reservations are connected.

DH is a very nice guy, but not a Disney guy. He enjoys my joy out of all the planning, etc., but doesn't understand it at all.

I am wondering if I should let him go ahead and check in by himself on our arrival day (potentially hours before I'd be able to do it). While I'll fax in a room request (and we have things noted on our reservation), I'm concerned that he'll just take whatever the guest services CM gives him without asking about it. (I mean I could give him a list of questions, etc., or pin a note to his shirt before he leaves home, but . . .)

I suppose we could always move the next day if things get messed up. DH will do whatever I ask of him.

Thoughts?

Give you DH 1 or 2 important things to ask for (location vs bedding) and let him know it's OK to NICELY ask once or twice for something else and to let them know he doesn't need an immediate room.

By the time you could check in (8:30-9:00) there probably won't be as many rooms available to pick from.

Remember some preferences (bunk beds) limit other choices. Make sure you agree on what you want.

I would have your husband check in as soon as he is able. The room requests are always "as available", and I think the earlier you check in the better.

I would also give your husband a list of things you want in a room, in order of preference. Maybe even look at a map of the resort and discuss it. But, if he is anything like my husband, I wouldn't get my hopes up for the perfect room. I know my husband would probably take whatever he gets, even after all the instructions.
