Letter from Bob Iger?

I received it, too. I think it was sent to D23 members....I'm a D23 member but my husband isn't and he didn't receive the email.

Maybe the email is a blue card perk.
It came to our D23 email address, which is a joint address separate from our individual DVC email addresses.

Bob, if you’re listening, send an email to DVC members too. I for one would appreciate the recognition!

Not to defend him in the least but just to refresh memories - Chapek was head of Parks during all those investments, he would have been instrumental in putting together the proposals that Iger then approved. What we see as Park neglect really started when the streaming beast had to be feed dollars...oh and that Covid thing.
Fair point. However Chapek was only head of Parks & Resorts for 5 years. Many of the things I listed pre-dated him. And working from a budget set by Iger is different than setting the budget yourself.

I'm not suggesting that Disney should have approved massive theme park expansion in 2020-2021. But we're almost at 2023 and there is nothing in the hopper after Tron and Moana. Well, Splash Mountain re-theme, I guess.

That's 4 attractions (Tron, Moana, GOTG, Remy) in 4 years (2020-2023) across all 4 parks. And given the amount of time it takes for Imagineering to get new concepts off the ground, 2024-2025 is looking rather bleak.

He was only over parks for 5 years? It felt much longer 😁

Yep, WDW will be in a dry spell for more than a few years, they need to at least get some announcements out there soon. We all know it takes forever for them to go from announcement to opening (looking at you Tron).

That was a super nice email. Feels like a personal touch. Hoping the magic comes back…

Bring back AP’s to just DVC’ers ;)
Do you think he "actually" wrote that letter? Or someone wrote it for him and just signed off on it?

I'm not swayed by words, but by actions. I may be wrong, but this seems like "lipstick on a pig."

We got it this morning. Gives us a glimmer of glimmer of hope better things to come in the future instead of being undesirables.

Glad to see Iger cares more about D23 members who spend a nothing to $1xx for memberships. It’s not like DVC members spent $1,000 to tens of $1,000. At least he has priorities

If there was a priority, I suspect it was more about reaching as wide an audience as possible. Not attempting to rank different groups of guests, and targeting those whose ego most needs to be stroked.

Looks like he addressed it pretty generically.
“You” could mean anyone. I’m sure that was very intentional.

I only have the free D23 membership.
I have the free one, too. I didn;t get one. I guess Iger doesn;t love me. LOL I did get an email to enter a d23 contest for stuff I don't need, and a link to some D23 Chriostmas Music on youtube.

They were promoting D23 activities so it makes sense to send it out to them. D23 head prob ghost wrote it and he signed off. Maybe DVC head needs to follow suit.

I received it as well. I take it as bunch of corporate schlock until they actually start treating DVC members better. I'll believe it when I see it; "we will continue to do our best to exceed your highest expectations" is a tall order and they have been failing that test recently.
I didn't receive the letter. I think it's better than "reducing portion sizes due to guests waistlines" and calling legacy fans an "undesirable mix". It's a feel good thing for me. As others have said, if I feel good while they're taking my money, then I'm happy. Under previous management, I felt I was under attack. (I know that's an exaggeration, but I don't have a moderate word for that.)

Under Iger, DVC was pushing to implement illegal point charts to screw over owners and raise the bottom line. He also oversaw the implementation of booking limitations for resale owners.

Some lip service with no action doesn't influence me in the slightest.
