Let's talk traditions part 2

Now can you tell me about some traditions that you would LIKE to start?

Has someone else done something in the past that you thought was really special and wanted to try for your family?

Or has someone mentioned something that you would love to do?

What would be the best thing about starting a new tradition?

i have been starting alot of new traditions in the last few years. i moved 600 miles from the little bit of family i have so i had to leave most of my traditions also.
one that i started last year came from family fun magazine. i bought a plain white felt tree skirt. took some paint and had my son put his hand print on it. i then wrote the year underneath his name. i will do this again this year. i will have a hand print growth chart for under my christmas tree!!!
we also make salt dough christmas tree ornaments. i see all those pretty christmas tree ornaments and want to buy them but i know that the time will come soon when my DS will not want to make ornaments with me anymore.
i have also started shopping black friday. this is new for me since i always worked that day.

With my Mom gone, who was the QUEEN of tradition, we all have to start our own while continuing hers.

Christmas has always been very special to me, but I've always felt that it was too commercial. I like to make most of my gifts and have most of my life, but now I've got the kids involved, my son and my great neices.

We've already started making ornaments and next week we will be making homemade gifts for the family. The girls are very creative (my son is NOT) and it becomes an activity that they all enjoy.

Michael and I will be decorating our new home and it will be an annual tradition now, also. We normally don't decorate much, because we spend most of our holiday in Chattanooga and then in Orlando. This year we've already started! We made a homemade wreath... a la HGTV ... and hong it on the door. It really gets us in the mood!
