Let's Talk Remodeling

We finally got the microwave hung back up & put the old oak switchplate covers back on.

Hixski, this pic is for your husband. It shows the microwave no longer hanging below the cabinets. :thumbsup2 I have 18" of clearance now rather than only 16.5"

Thanks for the picture. I just showed it to him. He is good to go on it now. Ours will be about 3.5 inches to put the microwave flush with the bottom of the cabinets. I guess our microwave is bigger.

I think your grout needs to be a bit darker if you want that uniform look. It looks good now but the grout is lighter than the tiles. I would change out the switchplate too. We have the bone color in our whole house. It pretty much blends in with most colors.

We are back to painting again. After painting most of the house we are now painting our guest bedroom and now we are going to paint our master bath too. (Towel bar syndrome). You just can't paint over half your house and expect the rest to still look good.:rotfl2:

Splash, the kitchen looks great!!! If you use that grout stain, let us know how it worked. ( I had that coffee pot mishap a while back, that stained my kitchen grout. The tile store sold me a special cleaner that did nothing. They said the only other solution would be grout stain.)

Y'all have reminded me that I had planned on changing the white switchplate covers on my backsplash & never did.

Not much going on here. Probably not too much happening very soon either. While DH was doing the taxes, he realized the total amount we've spent on the house this year!!! Not a good thing for him to see.:sad2:

We did some landscaping that came out really nice. Of course we didn't think about watering all that new stuff when we put it in. So my SIL came over & laid out soaker hoses under the mulch. He hooked everything up to timers too. Had to get our contractor back out here yesterday to change all of our old faucets though. Even with the timers hooked up, I was having to go turn everything on & off because every single faucet was leaking so much.

Look at the new fun picture I got for our hall bath. It is called "Naughty Angels". I'm sure everyone has probably seen this Raphael picture before but probably not like this. It looks great with the new bathroom color. It is a bit washed out in the picture but it really does look good. I couldn't resist. I'm sure someone somewhere would be offended but I think it is cute.:cool1:

Hixski,
I love your naughty angels! :rotfl:

shovan, Love the idea of the soaker hoses. At some point, you'll have to show us your new landscaping!
We have a lot of landscaping to finish up this spring/summer, front and back.
Sometimes I wonder if we'll ever be completelyl done.

Still waiting for our shower doors to be installed in the master bath.:rolleyes1 (Long story) Crossing my fingers for next week.

I'm not offended, and I want one! Where did you get that?

We have the appraiser coming out at 1PM today to appraise the house for our home improvement loan.

Hopefully soon, I'll be boring y'all with backyard remodeling pictures.

Ironically, not doing the bathroom may bite me in butt when the appraiser appraises my house. The whole house is done, except that one room. He's in for quite the surprise when he walks through those double doors and a whole bunch of early 90's hits him in the face.

Also, my carpet... Chloe did a number on it when she was so sick a month ago. We were waiting to replace it after I got the new puppy housetrained. Think the appraiser will think I'm setting him up if I walk him room to room with explanations? :rolleyes1

Yeah, can't take credit for the soaker hoses, it was my son-IL's idea! I'll try to take some pics, but it will be hard. The front of the house is very long/wide ??? not quite sure how to describe that. But I would need a panoramic camera to get the whole thing in one shot. I'll see what I can do!

We're picking up a chocolate lab puppy tomorrow morning at 9AM!

We don't know which one she is yet, but it's one of these:

Ebay!!!! I have had it for close to a year. I just didn't have anywhere to put it. I bought the frame after we painted the bathroom. I don't know if it is a bathroom picture, but darn it I wanted it on the wall. :rotfl2:

I can't wait to see pictures of Chloe with the new puppy!!

AITY, Those puppies are irresistable!! :lovestruc
Can't wait to see pics!! Good luck with choosing!

We are currently living petless. My 13 yr old toy poodle Tia died about 3 years ago.

AMITY, somehow I missed it that you were getting a puppy! How fun is that?! Congratulations!

So, tell us, which one did you pick and what is her name?? That picture of the four of them is precious!

FIrst of all, CUTE puppies!! I don't envy you though. Never could get my Boston crate trained.... It was horrific (although she stays in hers while we are gone- we're not there to hear her scream!!! LOL).

Here is a pic of the new wall, with the "art" I have added. I really like it.

Us too! We lost our 16 yr old schnauzer 2 years ago & I we just can't bring ourselves to replace him.

I've updated this thread with puppy pics! And it'll be awhile before I can get photos of the puppy and Chloe together. Chloe wants nothing more than to growl at her right now.

I'm busy getting my backyard ready for a big hole tomorrow!

We have two things left to do; dismantle the fountain (which I sold on Craigslist in just a few hours!) and move our grill, then we're ready.

We had all of our lines marked this week, and my stupid landscapers pulled up all the flags! :headache:

Everyone working hard or hardly working? :rotfl2:

Yesterday, I finally found a dinette light and a dining room light that I like. DH and I are going to the store today to look at it again. Maybe, finally, we can get the cheapo builder grade light fixtures out of here. Seriously, I've seen my dinette light way too many times on HGTV's Design to Sell in the BEFORE pictures of homes.:sad2:

We recently bought a cabin (new) that will be used for weekend rentals. We're in the middle of decorating it and already remodeling it (go figure!) to have an outdoor fireplace room. We just picked out the mantle on Friday - a nice freeform piece of walnut. The builders are starting work on it tomorrow. It has a wrap around porch and we're bumping out a section right off the kitchen to have a vaulted outdoor room. We're hoping the cost will come back to us in the future via strong rentals and strong resale value. Well, at least, that's what I've been telling myself. :scared:

And, as usual, we haven't finished the prior project (the basement), before launching into another project (the cabin).:lmao:
