Let's Talk Remodeling

I'm the one that started the stupid thread, and I haven't even started the project I was talking about!

My cabinet guy is busy through April now, so I can blame it on him.

I spent over a $1k on Chloe this month though, so I would have had to put it off anyway. :sad1:

Hi all, just found this thread. Very nice projects happening on this board and many, many great ideas. :cool1:

We just started on some home projects - one being new siding. It's a blue (slate blue) and we want to paint our front door RED!! So my question of the day is:

Anyone out there have a red door and color suggestions?????? Looking at BM Classic Burgandy, Burnt Peanut Red, Cottage Red...so hard to tell from those paint chips.

Thanks:flower3:

We have Cottage Red on our front door and shutters. We have a light gray dutch lap siding. It looks great with our siding. I haven't seen anyone with blue siding with the red door. They usually just have white or black.

I'm not being much help am I???:rotfl2: I would think navy would be a good color too if you can't find a red you like.

How is she doing?

We have a had a very, very rough morning. She woke up and went into hiding and then about 30 minutes later had projectile vomiting. Her breathing became very labored and she was extremely lethargic.

Of course my husband is at the fire station. She did this a couple of nights ago, with the exception of the vomiting. This time though, I thought I was losing her. She has perked up a little bit and has drank water. I'm sure we'll be back at the vet first thing in the morning.

Something is going on. I had more blood work run on Friday and her kidney levels are still out of whack, but I won't know if it's kidney disease until we get the urinalysis back on Monday.

Aren't you sorry you asked? :sad2:

I'd do a red door in a heartbeat! I want to paint mine black. We have red brick, so I could never do red, but if I could, I would.

Poor Chloe!! I hope they find out what is wrong. Duncan sends his love!!:dog:

No, I'm not sorry I asked but I am sorry that both of you are going through this. That would scare the daylights out of me. I sure hope you get to the bottom of what is wrong. Poor Chloe, she must be scared too. :sad1:

Thanks, both of you. I really appreciate it. Right now she seems to be doing okay. Hopefully that'll last through the night.

AMITY, So sorry to hear about your Chloe! :grouphug: I hope she is doing better and you find out the problem.

She's still plugging along. All of her kidney tests (the ones my vet sent out to the lab) came back normal, so we can rule out kidney disease. That was my main concern.

She's on a few medications that could have caused the problems. She's fine today though. She's the same old knucklehead she always is!

That's really good to hear!!! :goodvibes That would be good if a medication change takes care of it! pixiedust: Sending some prayers & pixie dust your way!

I am so glad she is doing better!

Do any of you have friends who love to come over and spend your money? I had a friend come over this morning to talk about roman shades and now I am demo-ing half of my kitchen! Its all good though. I solved my "menu planner deask" AKA crap holder. It is a cheesy thing, not a high quality same as the rest of the cabinets. there is the desk, 4 drawers and then cabinets up above.

So now I am removing the whole thing, putting in a moving island that I brought over from my mums house that looked better here anyway if I do say so myself ;) and instaling my old pot rack that hangs on the wall.
Now I will have a usable workspace instead of just a dumping space.

I am really excited about it!

She also showed me how I can reconfirgure my cabinets so that they are more usable. I cant wait for that!

I'm sorry about Chloe. I had a fright with Roswell last week and they did the kidney work up for her as well. I know how worrisome that can be. I'm glad she's feeling better though.

Tink Fans, I love red doors. I really wanted too paint our house door red, but it wouldn't look right with the blue shutters, and I wasn't about to paint them black. There's something so sharp about a red door.

Binny, I admit to being someone to help spend a friend's money. My friend and I are dying to have another couple we are friends with re-do their kitchen so we can design our dream kitchen :rotfl2: It's not fair - their kitchen is huge! and has so much potential.

DH is looking to start the office portion of the basement this week by water sealing. We got a new office chair for him, and we put a leather recliner (50% off from furniture warehouse) on layaway. I normally don't like recliners, and it's pretty blah looking, but I swear it's like sitting on a marshmellow! And at least it's a relatively neutral color (brown). We put it on layaway even though we paid for most of it because I don't have a place to put it right now. DH is threatening to bring it home and put it in the garage so he can sit in it. I don't want him to get used to sitting in my new reading chair.

It sounds great! But no, I wish I had a friend that had great idea's like that! That's why I've needed you guys to help me make decisions! All I got from family & friends when discussing the bathroom remodel was raised eyebrows, the questioning comments of " Ooh, I guess that will be nice?"

I will have to get some pics, but we are finished with the bathroom & bedroom remodel!!!!! :cool1:

You all are not going to believe this, but we went out of town on Thursday the 14th and returned on Tuesday the 19th to a redone bedroom! Our contractor came in on Thursday. He tore up the carpet, painted the whole room, put down new wood floors, installed new base moldings and crown molding. AND had it all completely finished, furniture back in place, dusted AND HE EVEN MADE THE BED!!!!! :crazy2: Yes I was in total shock! We came in late Tuesday evening and we were really worn out from going to the Daytona 500 and trying to get in some Disney time too! We were expecting to not even be able to sleep in the bedroom that night. DH had spoken to the contractor the day before & the flooring had not been delivered that morning. He had to go pick up the flooring that afternoon & worked until midnight on Monday to get the floor finished! Isn't that just amazing!

After the nightmare time we had trying to find a good contractor, I sure feel doubly blessed to have found this guy!!!

Of course, I think I need new bedding now & maybe add some more curtains! ;)

That is when you know they feel fine!!! Hope Chloe stays feeling that way!:thumbsup2

Gosh you're all great. Thank you thank you thank you! :flower3: Definitely doing the red door but still deciding on that color. Cottage red is one but think the Classic Burgandy will be a better choice for siding color - it's a slate blue - some days looks dark gray - sunny days blue. Will try and post a picture.

Just caught up on the last few pages and will also put the hunter fans on list as I have to get three. I'm guessing the one I have is NOT a Hunter because it makes tons of noise - just awful.

be back soon...

Good for you!!

Thats exactly what I think of the desk in our kitchen. It drags the whole kitchen area down. This is the #1 reason, I want to redo everything. Valuable wall space that can be used for cabinetry and work surface is taken up by a desk. Who uses them anyway? In the age of portable laptops! :confused3

I wish I could get one of you over here to reconfigure my cabinets. We're pretty locked into the same footprint because I don't want to mess with the flooring. To tell you the truth, it's finding the right cabinet place that has me treading water right now.

good choices and Shovan omg where did you find that one and does he have a brother in Boise?

I cleaned out that cabinet and desk and I am now sure I am doing the right thing. I threw 75% of it away and just put the rest of the stuff where it was SUPPOSED to go in the first place :rolleyes1 there was 2 year old halloween candy in there

fans can also make a lot of noise as they get older. They dont last long anymore. I am convinced the older ones ( always the ugly ones in my experience  ) dont ever die. They look hideous but you hate to replace something that works so well. I have a Hunter in my family room that cant be more than 8 years old, when they did the remodel, and its like watching the tilt o whirl at the fair! And twice as loud!

I have 3 that I have to replace this year as well. Its going to be an expesive year in this house. :sigh:
