I'm beyond happy that the rangers won tonight! I was scoring a local game and I accidently stopped the clock when I saw the game click to final score! The refs about fell on the ice laughing when I explained! :lmao

Looks like the playoffs are over for me now. Blackhawks are out. Coyotes' goalie was pretty good tonight, but the game was riddled with such crappy officiating once again. This entire series has been a huge joke.

I was rooting for the Blackhawks but it's also neat to see the Coyotes win their first ever playoff series!
There are zero teams left in the west that have won a cup before so we'll for sure be getting a new contender for the finals from that side! I like that as a fan of a team that missed the playoffs.

Just need the Rangers, Panthers and Bruins to close out their series' and I'll be a happy camper!

It would have been easier to take if they hadn't played so dirty. I am all for a good hitting game, but these weren't it. And the officials should be held accountable, too. It's one thing if a penalty is called the same for both, but when it goes one sided, it's much harder to watch.

At this point, I doubt my husband will watch any further. He may turn a game on here or there, but it won't be religious like it has been.

This has been a really interesting year for playoff hockey with many favorites and higher seeds going out so early... I thought Pittsburgh-Philly was an amazing series, I wanted it to go longer!

The Red Wings are my team, and I'm sad they are out but I didn't anticipate that they would fare well against Nashville anyway, so no surprises there. Pekke Rinne is really incredible. I used to have a lot of respect for the Predators and the fan base they created in a small market, but I am really disappointed in their fans and players after that series. Their captain's behavior and attitude after the Zetterberg hit bothered me, but not as much as their fans chanting "you suck" during the traditional post-series handshaking, a time that's supposed to be reflective of class and sportsmanship. It was disheartening and IMO, uncalled for. It's too bad, really.

Predator fan here and I'm sorry about the chant. It was wrong at that time and honestly I have never liked it at any time. Being a relatively new hockey fan I just thought I was being a sissy. Not that it is a good excuse but I blame the team operations for playing the music that goes along with that chant during the handshake. The fans didn't mean it as an insult, they just automatically do it when the music is played. Everyone was just carried away with the win.

We do have a lot of respect for the Redwings. It is a good rivalry and the games in the first round were exciting. It is nice to see so much hockey fever in this football loving area.

Yeah, I've literally never seen a team get as favorable of reffing as the Coyotes do. It's very frustrating to play them.

Other than the Torres hit I didn't think it was THAT dirty. And he definitely got what he deserved. But that doesn't matter when in the GAME Hawks didn't get a powerplay, they're without one of their best players because of it (and not having Torres doesn't hurt the Yotes at all) and even some of their goals in the series shouldn't have happened (too many men goal).
But every team has dirty players and play hard. Look at the Keith elbow on Sedin at the end of the regular season.
And you can't really blame the team for getting favorable reffing. Although I feel like it's a HUGE conflict of interest to have the NHL own a team. It's really hard to not believe in NHL conspiracies when you look at what the Yotes get away with.

But in the end, with all the awful reffing, I have to say that Mike Smith won that series pretty much on his own.

I'm a long time hockey fan and I hate the you-suck chant! I get that it's a tradition and I LOVE how passionate Preds fans are so I usually don't let it bother me and let them have their chant.
But the handshake thing was definitely the arena DJ's fault, imo. The fans probably didn't think anything of it at the time.

Meh, I hate the Redwings more than anything ever so I was doing the "you suck" chant on my couch with the Preds fans!

Thank goodness the East may be putting deserving and quality teams through. Flyers already in, and a Bruins-Rangers Conference Semi would be epic (although I'm quietly hoping the Sens dust the Rangers in game 7). Beyond that, Panthers/Devils is just bleh.

Yeah I'm kind of a hockey purist. I'll take the "old guard" teams in the playoffs over the window dressing expansions any day.

There's definitely a reason to watch the Western Confernce games. With Rinne, Smith, Quick and the Blues tandem, it is an all-star line-up of goalies.

I'm a purist too. I like it when as many O-6 or 70's powerhouses make it into the playoffs as possible.

I was really disappointed to see Hayes get thrown out like that (it was a penalty, and with the blood I would have been OK with 4 minutes), but every time Phoenix got a call like that it was just rubbing salt in the wound for the Hossa hit and subsequent non-penalty.

The good news is that the "Yotes" are going to get their you-know-what's handed to them by the Preds in the next round!!

I agree with everything you said. And about salt being rubbed into a wound, that's exactly how it felt. I really do hope the Coyotes don't go any farther. I do have to say, I felt bad for the Coyote player who got the stick to the eye just barely two minutes into the game. He is going to have a good size shiner. I was holding my breath expecting a penalty to be called on the Hawks.
