We are in need of a new suitcase! We are interested in a spinner of sorts. DH wants a 29", but I fear it will be too big for our family of four when we all squeeze in a rental car with four bags. We have one old Samsonite that is wheeled and probably 25" or so, and the boys use rolling duffles.

Looking at Delsey - could use suggestions - experiences - advice!! Thanks!

Amazon has had some great deals on luggage in the past few days. Even better that you don't have to pay sales tax and they were offering 2 day shipping over $25 for non prime customers.

My thought on a 29" suitcase - don't do it!

The reason - if you are trying to "cram" a bunch of stuff in, which you can do for a 29" suitcase - you face going over the 50 pound limit, which then you get hit with extra fees.

For that reason alone - we no longer have "the big one".

We find it to be much easier for each of us to have our own suitcase - that is an appropriate size.

Saw some luggage at Bed Bath and Beyond this afternoon - spinners in lime green. ;)

It was very cheap (and don't forget coupons) but seemed decent quality. I think the 24" suitcase was clearance for about $40. I really am considering going back to get it for my boys.

That said, I'm always worried about buying spinner luggage if used as checked baggage. (Hate getting off a plane and not being able to roll the suitcase. I have a set with large roller blade type wheels that has held up well that we take to the airport.)

Buy TravelPro Luggage - you won't regret it!

You will spend more up front, but it will last a really long time!

I travel a lot for work and had gone through several mid priced bags - finally I gave in and bought TravelPro luggage and one piece (rolling briefcase/laptop bag/office) is two years old, the other is about 9 months old now - and they are both still in mint condition!

They have outlet stores - so check and see if there is one near you!

This.

I had a set with 3 sizes - 22", 25", and 28" or 29" (can't remember)

Anyway, the middle size is between 48 and 50 lbs when packed full, so I can only imagine what the larger size would have been when packed full! I ended up selling off the larger one, having never used it, once I saw how heavy just the middle one was when it was packed. And now I have sold off that set entirely. I replaced it with a Samsonite Spinner 22" carry-on and a 25" matching suitcase from TJMaxx.

Great advice - thanks! I was trying to talk my husband out of the 29" and saw some of the very same issues you all mentioned when we looked at feedback on various suitcases. I think he's finally seen the light. :)

I'll check out all these - I need to find a BB&B that carries luggage as the one near our house doesn't. Thanks again!

If you have a TJ Maxx or Marshalls near you, check them. They often have some good prices on high quality luggage. And yes - definitely do not get a 29 inch one. 25" or 26" is the largest we take. Pick a color also that is easy to pick out on the belt (avoid black).

I was going to suggest this too! I got my name brand luggage there for VERY cheap.

Thanks everyone!

And the winner is:

25" Travelpro Spinner from TJ Maxx for $79.99

You all make me look so smart with the husband! I never would have thought of TJ Maxx!
