Let's talk CHRISTMAS!

If you've done ornaments, could you post a pic? I do them each year but I'm running out of ideas.

Bought my first :santa: gifts today.......Holiday Barbie for DD (a tradition since her first x-mas) and a book about car history for my DN.

Let the spending begin.....

Lisa

I am just so at a loss...I usually have a bunch of stuff done (or at least IDEAS!!)

clear christmas ornaments!!!!

Get the clear glass balls from the craft store. Pull the tops off, being careful not to break the glass.

Cut strips of scrap paper about 1/2 inch wide and 4 inches long, I use the busy christmas paper and a coordinating cardstock. Roll them on a pencil, slide pencil out without letting paper unroll. Stuff paper in hole. Fill ornament to top, reattach top, add shimmery ribbon to hanger. TADA!!!! instant gift, great for parents, teachers, bus drivers, etc......

I did this two years ago! They were so simple and looked great!

While at WDW, "Santa" bought the castle for DD and had it shipped to Bubbies house (out of sight, out of mind).

But the best news is that DH just said yesterday that we don't have to buy each other presents this year if I'm willing to go to WDW next summer again!!!:yay: :yay: :yay: IF I'M WILLING???? Is he crazy to think I would turn down another trip to the most fabulous place on earth??!!!

Maybe this back to school thing is affecting his head? I should ask his fellow teachers if he was hit in the head at school...:rotfl2:

Hey Lisa (love the name :lmao: ) when in Jan are you going to WDW, we will be there 1/26 - 2/2 at PC :cloud9:  :woohoo: hope to someday go for x-mas though.Lisa

We switched gears and booked for December this year.:thumbsup2 We'll miss you.:sad1:

With my first kid on the way in Jan I'm trying to get my shopping done. I got all my friends bags at the Vera Bradley sale the other weekend and I found my grandmother a painted glass window thing at the craft fair this weekend. I still have alot of people to go but its a start.

I need to start my christmas cards. I actually drugout my christmas stamps the other night while getting something else out so now they are on the back of my desk just waiting for inspiration. LOL

glad for the bump......almost done with DD, need to find those little things and a couple more :santa: gifts, something for DM and DSIL, a couple for DN and for DD best buddies. So I'm about 65% done, will probably get some Disney stuff this next weekend for the kids on my list.

I really need to start on my cards, since I'm making them this year with my cricut, will be a longer process than just signing and stuffing.

How's everyone else doing?

I haven't started.. Hope to next week... I'm starting lists...but now that the kids are getting older.. the lists are getting more EXPENSIVE!

OK, so with all the toy recalls I'm really considering rocks and sticks for gifts this year.
Yes?? No??? :rotfl2:

Seriously though, I have no ideas what to get the boys this year. DD is all set, she saw about 20 things at the Disney Store that she loved so one stop shopping for her but, :confused3 about the boys.

pretty in tink and I have started scrapping recipes for presents this year. She is much more ambitious than me at this point, but that's ok because she is making a set for me too. I'm making her a set also.

How do u get started scrapping recipes.. I have a ton of my grandparents and great gp recipes that are stored in a box and this seems like a great idea.... please tell me how

Last year, I made altered paint cans and ornaments for the teachers.. they used them in the classroom year round.... I even got a call from last years teacher requesting another one...
So, with that being a hit.. I think I will make those again this year and the ornaments and maybe some bath salts or such. We are a pretty small town and working w/ PTO and having 5 kids.. I get to know the teachers well...since most of them have kids that know my kids or my DH has coached them in a sport....
So, with the next 2-3 months filled w/ FB, CC, or Soccer.. I really need to get started NOW because in the next 6 weeks we have 1 free night! :)

ETA: As for the family.. I shop whenever I find something and hit the sales... I don't usually do Thanksgiving because all the fools come out of the woodwork and end up ruining the fun of that day...

I know you posted this a while ago, but I just stumbled across this post today. Can you tell me how you made your altered paint cans? Did you paint yours? I never heard of them before I read your post today. I did a google search and they look so cool. I would love to make these for my son's teacher and some of our relatives. I bet they would love it. I do have a bunch of scrapbooking supplies, sizzix machine and dies. I also have a lot of acrylic paints. I hope you don't mind me asking. TIA

Thank you so much! These look like such a fun project. I was telling DH about these yesterday. He said that he has seen these before. I'm sure he didn't tell me about them because that would mean that I would want to try and make my own. Then he just rolled his eyes and walked away. :rotfl2:

I have not started making my gift yet I ahve my ideas and most of my supplies...I plan on doing metal cookie sheets advent calenders.....
Normally I start with my Christmas music on Halloween that gets me in the sprit of makings my gifts....
