Okay. Is there anybody here besides me that is getting tired of this Palin stuff? I'm getting tired of hearing about Sarah Palin left and right.

I wish that Barack, Palin, and McCain would get back to what's really important- the issues. How are they going to change America? They're all describing themselves as "change agents". So, how're they going to change America. What's their stance on the issues?

I'm sick of talking about Palin. I don't care that she's a hockey mom, I don't care that she has five children, I don't care that Bristol's pregnant. These are all things that affect her life, not mine.

As for stances on the issues, a very good webiste is ontheissues.org. I highly recommend checking it out. And also factcheck.org is a good place to go to weed through speeches and see what's really true in them.

It is really hard for me to believe that McCain and Palin really want to turn this country in another direction, they're in the party that made the mess and they haven't said exactly how their policies are going to be so different from Bush.

I agree. I think it's alarming that the McCain campaign has said this election is not about the issues. It sure better be, the economy is in the tank! Please. less focus on what everyone is wearing and how they are parenting and more on what we are going to do to fix this mess.

I'm probably in the minority on this one but this is the reason I feel we need to have MUCH shorter election time frames. They campaign for 18 to 20 months BEFORE the convention and we still have another couple months to go.

I'd like to see the campaigning restricted to internet and public TV ads only if they insist on campaigning two years before the election. I wouldn't want my senator that I just elected out on the road campaigning for president. That isn't what I elected him/her to do. Maybe six months before the election, allow the candidates to campaign by region. I don't see why we need 2 years or more to decide who our next president is going to be? Seriously, how slow are we in America that we can't figure out who we want to represent us in a somewhat timely fashion?

The issues are out there and I believe both candidates have been clear on what their plan is. I am really not sure how much more either guy can say about their economic plan, health care plan, etc. There is nothing left to do between now and November so it is time to sling the mud. It pits both sides against each other for months and it is why both sides hate each other so much. Two years of campaigning does nothing to bring both sides together. The only goal has been to drive the sides farther apart.

I agree. I am waiting for McCain to start telling us about the issues. I can't go hear him on the stump but every clip I see them play has nothing to do with the issues.

Obama talked about his plans during he convention speech, not McCain. It is time to get away from the distraction of Palin and back to the issues.

I wish the MSM would start to ask both candidates about the issues and get off all the stupid distractions.

I agree. I hate that we are forced to choose a side. I never agree completely with either the red or the blue. I WANT A PURPLE PARTY!!! :upsidedow

And, I also want them to stop talking about each other and tell me what they plan to DO.

That is why I never watch the pep-rallies (um... I mean conventions). I can't wait for the DEBATES. :thumbsup2 That is when I'll decide who I'm voting for.

It boils down to basic philosophy unfortunately. Religion wins.
We will see if it wins again.:confused3

I am for the purple party too.:upsidedow

:lmao:

If they only talked about issues - and stopped slinging mud - I might be inclined to listen.. As it stands now - I don't want to hear it, see it, or read it..:headache:

I have to say this is the first election that some days I'm still on the fence.

I'm looking forward to the debates, maybe we will all get some answers then.

Actually, I am completely grateful for the Palin hysteria. It has opened the window on a number of realities about Barack Obama — and the modern democrat party — as well as the partisan wasteland that is the Washington elite press corps. All the discussion in the world wouldn't have convinced tens of thousands of voters that Obama is just a typical politician who will change nothing and will continue the partisan hatred that has plagued Washington since the democrats lost 2 close elections and became consumed with moveon.org-style hate. Few wanted to believe he was being shepherded into the highest office in the country by a shameless media unwilling to show us who he really is. Now, the vast majority of American voters understand how utterly contemptuous the democrat party really is of the "regular folks" it purports to serve, not to mention their horrific disdain for women which we had a glimpse of with Hillary Clinton's candidacy, but see in its full ugly scale now. This is good information for voters to have.

If you want a discussion of the issues, you need to ask for it. You need to tell the political candidates that they will not be rewarded with your vote if they tell you this election is NOT about issues. Just in case anyone missed it:

McCain Manager: 'This Election is Not About Issues'

"This election is not about issues," said Davis. "This election is about a composite view of what people take away from these candidates."

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/thefix/2008/09/mccain_manager_this_election_i.html

If you want this election to be about issues, then I respectfully suggest some of you inform the McCain campaign. Flood McCain's campaign headquarters and tell them you think they are wrong: This is about issues. Not lipstick on a pig. Not hockey moms. Not dismissed cooks. Etc., etc., etc.

Or you will get the same old/same old AGAIN.

Enough!

They are saying that Senator Obama's reaction to Governor Palin has shown him to be a typical politician and not a new kind of politician and that without a surprise like Governor Palin in the race the message that Obama is just more of the same would never have been shown so clearly.

I think what she's talking about is that this hysteria is showing the American people who Barack and the Democratic party really is. Barack keeps saying he's this "change agent" and all he can do is act like a regular old politician by blasting Palin and McCain. However, the McCain does that too so can't complain!
