So we are staying at the Wyndham LBV across from DTD, so we'll be on the DTD bus/shuttle. As I understand, the bus starts at 8am. On the day we are going to the MK, it is opening at 9am. I have some weird curse on me which seems to make me miss EVERY SINGLE WELCOME SHOW EVER. Seriously, we have never seen in in person! Last time we missed it by 3 minutes thanks to the Slow Boat from Fort Wilderness.

Getting the 8am shuttle bus seems really risky for me, am I wrong? Does anyone know the route it takes to the parks? ALL the parks open at 9am that day, which makes me even more nervous. Should I suck it up and pay for parking at the TTC?

If it's important enough to see the welcome show, then yes pay for parking and do it.

You may want to catch the show on U-tube to make sure you really want to spend for parking. Not sure if anyone has a video, but you could try.

We saw one welcome show and i's okay, but not fabulous.

I did see it on YouTube. I'm not sure if it's just the principle of the thing....that I only want to see it because I've never seen it! Then maybe I'll get it out of my system. But also, having now made it once so close to rope drop, I LOVED getting on a bunch of rides with no lines first thing!

The bus's time leaving will be most important. Starting at 8 am and waiting for people to board and so forth takes time. Also, where does the bus shuttle drop you off? I've heard some shuttles drop you off at Epcot and you have to catch other Disney transportation to get to the other different parks.

If you get lucky maybe you'll make it.

I thought that the shuttle bus service from the 7 DTD hotels shared bus service. It was one of the reasons I did not chose to stay to stay at one of these resorts when I had a trip where I was going to be carless most of the trip. If they share then it might mean a stop at a different hotel along the way? If so, then that is going to eat into your time. If you want to be at MK before RD, I would plan to drive and arrive at TTC no later than 8 am. This should give you plenty of time to get from TTC to MK and be in a good spot for the show and RD.

I stayed in a DTD hotel last year, and we missed the opening show too. Was very upset - this year we are staying on-site.

I have stayed at Wyndham LBV and they do share their shuttle with 2 other hotels. I believe Wyndham is last Hotel in the loop so even if came at 8am, it will probably be packed with the other hotels guests and you may need to wait for another bus. I wouldn't risk it if it is important to you, just drive and park.

It's highly unlikely you would make it. I don't know where the bus drops you off, but it's not at the MK. It's either Epcot or TTC, which means one or two monorail rides before you get there. Drive or take a cab.

We're just planning for late Aug at a DTD resort. Couldn't you just walk to DTD and take a MK bus?

There are no buses from DTD to MK. Bus service from DTD to WDW hotels does not usually start until about 8:30 am and then are not very frequent.

Yes the bus would drop you off at the ticket center and you would need to take the ferry or monorail to the park.

If you want to see the opening show then you will need to drive and pay the $17.00 for parking, as it is very unlikely you would make it.

The bus route for that bus (the B Bus) for the resorts on Hotel Plaza Blvd. goes in this order:

1. Best Western
2. Wyndham LBV
3. Buena Vista Palace

The also typically run to two different parks at a time. Meaning there is not one bus that goes direct to [Insert Park Here] only. They typically pair the Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom and EPCOT with the Studios. Though at times they change that up a bit.

When you are at the parks, you can always jump on the other bus (the A Bus) and get off at the Hilton across the street and walk to the Wyndham. Sometimes it easier if that bus (the A Bus) is there before your bus is at the park you are at waiting to return to the hotel.
