Let's see if anyone can do this

1. I have no idea.

2. I can't agree with either one of them on a whole lot of what they have to say.

3. McCain is an honorable man who has served his country well. He has often stood up to powerful Republicans for what he believes in(MCain/Feingold esp.) Obama's views on abortion and a few other social issues are in sinc with mine.

1) State who you are supporting in the Presidential election.
2) Give one reason why (It must be a valid reason. Not a "because the other guy is worse" excuse.)
3) Say one thing that you like/admire/respect about the other candidate.

1) Obama
2) I will be honest. I am Clinton supporter and she has encouraged the Dems' to vote for Obama.
3) McCain looked pretty hot in his younger days. I can't say I admire McCain anymore, I lost that respect on May 13th, 2006.

I am voting for McCain/Palin
I respect McCain view and support of the military
Obama seems to have a good marriage and nice children

Great thread!!

1. I will be voting for McCain.
2. His views most closely mirror mine, particularly on energy and keeping our country safe from those who wish to harm us. I respect him because of his military service and the hell he endured as a p.o.w. - not leaving early when he had the chance to do so.
3. I respect and admire Obama for his intelligence, his skills as an orator, and his very apparent love for his wife and children.

1) I support McCain/Palin

2) I believe that McCain has the necessary experience and ability to reach across the aisle that I think will be essential in the next administration.

3) I like that Obama has gotten a new generation more interested in voting in our elections and participating in the political process.

1. I'm voting for Obama.

2. There are many reasons, but it's primarily because I agree with him on most of the issues. One thing I really like about him is that he's not into saber-rattling.

3. Like most Americans, I admire and respect McCain's service to our country, most particularly his time spent as a POW.

1. McCain/Palin

2. Pro-life stance, economic plan, I think he will keep our country the safest- and his experience

3. His kids are cute

1. Obama/Biden
2. Because Obama believes in diplomacy, and I have high hopes he'll be a pragmatic president and will dump the "with us or against us" baloney.
3. McCain served in the Navy and of course I respect all that have served. John Kerry counts too. ;)

1. I am voting for Obama
2. I believe this country needs a change and I believe Obama will be a wonderful leader - And I also believe in Universal healthcare - and even though that is not exactly what he is going to do, he will make changes and improve it
3. I honestly have nothing postive to say about Palin - we agree on nothing - but McCain seems to be a very brave man.

1. I support McCain

2. I agree with his views on the Iraq war and I have confidence in his abilities to keep our nation safe.

3. Obama is a skilled public speaker.

Obama / Biden

Because I was a Clinton supporter and Obama won the dem. nomination.

I respect McCain for his years of service for our country. I can't think of anything to say about the Governor :confused3

1. I've voting for Obama
2. In the last seven years the state of America has declined, lost of Intellectual Freedom, loss of respect from the rest of the world, failing economy, being bogged down in Iraq but losing ground in the real war which was Afganistan, and the general attitude of people, both democrat and republican, we are a "meaner" society today, we are harsher in our opinons, we are less willing to be giving and kind, we are more likely to slap at a hand then take it in goodwill. At least that is the way it feels to me. I think Obama sees us as part of the World, and he understands that we have to share it with others who may or may not believe the same as us.
3. I think McCain is a patriot, he served with honor, and held up under an ordeal that would have broken many people. I have actually supported him before and I wanted him to run four years ago, because I thought he would do a better job than Bush or Kerry.

Edited out the last paragraph cause I went off the three questions.

McCain/Palin

Because human life starts at the moment of conception. And I don't believe that's above my pay grade to answer.

I really like Obama and his wife as a family. I think he has a great personality.

1) voting for Obama/Biden
2) His top issues are my top issues
3) McCain was a brave soldier and is a funny SNL host. ;-)

1. probably McCain
2. Not seen as a neo-conservative
3. Sen. Obama when he graduated from Harvard could've gone to any big NYC law firm and be making big bucks but instead went home and dedicated his time to helping others less well off.

Sadly, I see at least 5 posters, at the time of this post, couldn't help but still "take a shot" at the other side.

1. McCain/Palin
2. Numerous reasons, but the top are: belief in a strong and ready military, belief that Supreme Court justices have the rather simple job of following the US Constitution and not making new law from the bench (that's the Congress's job), and theirs really is the only ticket in this race that will reach across party lines. I'm so tired of the partisan hatred.
3. Obama: He is a very skillful politician.

1. Barack Obama
2. Because I think he'll be an advocate for the middle class majority in this country while still allowing U.S. business to be successful in the domestic and world markets. He'll exercise an intelligent foreign policy where military force is used only when absolutely necessary. He'll be an effective steward for civil rights and the environment.
3. I like John McCain. He's a moderate, intelligent, and reasonable politician. His military experience is inspirational: He's seen combat and knows the horrors of war, and thus would not put troops in harm's way unless he thinks it necessary.

OP here. Yes, there are a few taking pot shots, but overall I am thrilled with the responses. I expected either 0 responses or an instant debate. I am so glad that wasn't the case.

To those posters who gave honest and insightful answers, I applaud you. It truly speaks of your character.

I'd like to participate in political discussions (that's discussions, not debates), but that just doesn't seem possible on the CB. Too many people go right into the mud-slinging and name-calling rather than actually having a positive political discussion. And don't get me started on the inflammatory threads that just offend in the title no matter who you support.

Thank you to all who participated. The responses show that no matter who we chose as our preferred candidate, we all have the same concerns about our country. Hugs to you all!! :grouphug:

McCain/Palin

He shares my views on marriage, abortion and supports homeschooling. I like his choice of Palin.

Obama's slogan for change is certainly something we could use.
