Yes, I have noticed that. It's almost like hit and run.

Now, I've thrown more than my share of zingers, but some of these people are just out of control. And as you say, they just disappear.

I like a robust debate and I understand how people can look at the same set of facts and come to different conclusions. There are some people here who I've disagreed with on almost everything and yet we have never exchanged anything but pleasantries.

Unfortunately, what you see on the BB's is just a slice of real life. People today are so horribly polarized from each other. We're on a dangerous path.

There are mean and nice people in real life and mean and nice people on the BB! You can't expect everything to be hugs and pixie dust!

I almost stopped posting my daily Monty Dog threads not that long ago, but I got so many PMs and emails from people, including a very moving one from a little girl who loves my posts about my dog, that I decided to stay and keep posting them.

I'm still astounded that someone PM'd me that they "hoped my dog gets hit by a truck" but, on the other hand, I think it's almost funny that someone actually sent hate mail to a dog. Yes, they started it off, Dear Monty...

That aside, the vast majority of people who post here are great. In a politically charged year, I think people just get more worked up than usual.

ITA, I can think of so many people with whom I disagree on "the issues", but who will be the first to congratulate, send hugs when needed, join in your happiness about an upcoming trip, tell you a photo is nice, or have fun in a fluff thread.

Most of the people who post here are great!

See the national healthcare debate thread for an example of posters with VERY different views on a controversial issue having a discussion and debate in a civil, friendly manner. It can be done. The participants must be willing.

I hope cati stays.

I love the fluff threads AND the debate threads.

I agree and I am very glad that you stayed. I kinda felt that way when I was first here too, I still don't post a lot of things because I don't think what I would say would be nice and if you can't say something nice, you should try to say nothing at all.
