I never heat the jar because I am only using a portion of it. I scoop some out of the jar into a small dish and heat for 30 seconds at 50% power or so.
This is how I do it too. Also, I heat it a less than 100% power because it burns easily.

OK, so I was intrigued by the walnuts. Somehow, even though I'd never noticed them before, my grocery store carries them! So I bought a jar when I was there this morning. I had a little on ice cream after lunch, and I'm converted.
My question is, do I store the rest of the jar in the fridge or cabinet?
Fridge. Nuts will go rancid once exposed to air. Keeping them cold will keep them fresh longer.
Thanks! I wasn't sure if the syrup would harden up too much in the fridge.
It does, sort of like honey but if you put the glass in a hot water bath it goes back to normalThanks! I wasn't sure if the syrup would harden up too much in the fridge.

YOU are pretty much reading my mind!!Depending on mood...
Choice 1- Peanut butter cup ice cream with hot fudge
Choice 2 - peppermint stick ice cream with hot fudge, over a brownie
In either case, it's not a sundae without whipped cream, nuts, and a cherry!
