Lets "Help" DVC choose the next theme!

What I'd love to see would be a stand alone "South Seas" resort - with a pirate under-theme. A Polynesian type DVC on steroids. A pirate village with shops and docks. Clusters of hut/villas, pools disquised as lagoons, including a wave pool for surfing. Canoes to paddle, reefs for snorkling. Much more "exotic" and interactive than the Poly. Sand beaches to stroll. A Mystery/Treasure Cave for kids - or a bar. Many, many palm trees, lush plantings and flowers. Plenty of intriguing views, mysterious corners and wandering paths. Lots of live south seas music. Lots of beach, water activities and pirate characters. Meals around a fire pit announced with a conch shell horn. Lots of torch lights. Maybe even a Pirate ship - to climb on, eat in CS and/or to use as a kids club. Just go ALL out with the imagineering. A place just chocked full of non-stop South Seas Magic. An adventure in itself. Bring a suit and a sarong, and you're set for the week.

Great ideas guys. I like the boatboatboat load a cash for the adult only resort and the Australian outback thing. How about a Venice, Italy theme? Paris, France? A lot you could do with those, Gondola rides, Italian artwork, Eiffel Tower, Louvre, sidewalk cafes ( Hey, maybe even some poolside dining) Both would work great as an adult only place. It isn't so crazy either, they have adult only things on Disney Cruise line. Keep em coming. :thumbsup2

This is sounding more like Vegas than Disney in my opinion. :thumbsup2

So many great ideas.
An adults only theme would be easy. Just make the resort "clothing optional" and set up an age limit. Or maybe a height requirement, Disney likes that.
"DVC member" would take on a whole new meaning.
They could advertise it as DVC's NEWdist resort.

It does but still would be great. If we have to do something Vegas hasn't done then we'll be out of ideas. Vegas has it all BABY! :thumbsup2

I always dreamed about French themed resort. Different buildings/villas would be named after the different regions. Wine tastings in lobby, great French restaurants, French CMs would add a lot also. The interior of rooms would have the plush beautiful colors of french design. :goodvibes

Does anyone remember that island that Disney used to have by Magic Kingdom? I went there as a child I remember. The whole tropical thing reminded me of that.
If they did a tropical island type theme I'd probably have to stay! This snow is just chilling right now and I'm ready to grab the sarong!

I vaguely remember it. Discovery Island I think

I like the idea of different countries or cities such as Paris, Venice, London; something like EPCOT where each of the buildings or sections is a different city and the foodcourt offering one counter for each.

I like this idea, but some people already get too crazy about requesting views. Could you imagine if there was a resort lilke this? We'd see endless posts in this board from people were outraged because they requested Venice 11 months ago and were assigned Zurich when they got there.

As someone stated, I haven't seen a bad idea yet. Makes you wonder about that conversation that led to the SSR? :confused3 :sad2: Maybe we can recreate that tragic day.

Probably similar to the conversation that led to a California theme park with a California theme being built. :)

I can't imagine Disney ever building a non kid dvc resort but I think SSR could come close if they made some changes. They already have the Spa, Fitness Center, Upscale Decor and Walkway to Downtown Disney. They just need to add the additional amenities that adults look for.
For example:
- an upscale restaurant
- wine bar
- gourmet coffee bar
- adults only lounge/club area
- adult only bistro with inside & outside dining extending over the dock with a view of downtown disney
etc.....

You know, if they did that, I'd actually stay there sometimes.

I think the only problem with this idea is that if there was going to be a resort with a more adult emphasis, it would have to be a smaller resort. They can't really get away with that at the largest (by far) DVC resort.

How about a NASCAR themed resort :confused3

I can scarcely conceive of a resort that appeals to me less, but I'm sure there are a lot of people who would be into that. Any land free over by the Disney racetrack?

My husband is always saying that Disney needs a Sherwood Forest-type resort. How about a Renaissance resort? The CM's could be dressed as wenches, and the refillable mugs could be made of pewter. Ale would be on tap right next to the Coke products. :lmao:

Lots of great ideas here!

I'd like to see something that is not already done - Vegas has quite a few themed hotels/resorts, doesn't it? And if I want to do colonial, I would go to Williamsburg. I love the Capri/Pompei idea (been there, loved them!) - but my favorites so far are the storybook theme and the pet friendly theme. We are getting a new dog next year (a long-haired chihuahua), and I hate the thought of going on vacation without him!

Keep the ideas coming, folks!
