After all the "bad" this town has been through. We deserve this "good."
Ain't that the truth!!! By the way, all the "questionable calls" were reviewed and were deamed correct. (unlike the Polamalu interception in the Colts game)
All the sore losers' complaints are falling on deaf ears here in my house. I know that last Sunday was Seattle's first Super Bowl but I don't know how many times they've been to the playoffs so I'll just tell you this. That's the way playoff football is played. You get one game....not a series like hockey or baseball. One chance. Anyone could have an off game or injury. Crazy things happen...it's part of what makes the game so tense and exciting. Pittsburgh was sputtering in the first quarter...OK maybe the first half...but when 60 minutes was up, Steelers were on top. That's the way it is, and if you don' like it..maybe football's not your game. The Steelers won, deal with it.
Bad calls unfortunately part of it too. It's how your team reacts to it when it comes (and it will come) that determines the outcome. I can't tell you how many times I sat and watched the Steelers get "robbed" of a victory.
Like the game when Bill Cower shoved a picture of the the scrimmage line of 11 Steelers when they were called for having too many men on the field into the referee's pocket??? I realize the refs are part timers and very knowledgable but my six year old can count to 11!
Or the botched coin flip. In overtime...the winners can easily be decided on who get possession of the ball first. You win the coin flip...you win the game!!! Bettis said heads!!! You could hear him!! Do Seattle fans ever wonder why they suddenly change the way coins are flipped? Coins are called heads or tails before it's even thrown in the air because of that fiasco.
Do you remember when the team (can't remember who they were...I want to say New England) missed field goal but because a Steeler accidently knocked into him, was called for "roughing the kicker" and they got to rekick and won the game??? Oh my word...that game hurt.
And the Polamalu interception. Good grief...how can a ref
study the replay over and over and still get it wrong! They admitted that was a mistake. Did you see Polamalu's reaction when the ref reversed the call. He shook his head, put his helmet on. And went right back to work.
They shook it off and kept playing. THAT'S class. That's a champion.
The Steelers had tough losses this year, mainly due to injuries to key players.....just part of football. They entered into the playoffs in a difficult situation with their backs against the wall and they overcame it. They overcame bad calls, being the sixth seed, being on the road. They took the card that was dealt to them and won anyway. I'm so proud to be a Steeler fan this year. I only wished that they could have done it by beating New England. After watching them beat us on our own turf to get into the Super Bowl..it would have been sweet to beat them.
So all the people crying and whining about the play calling in the game. Stick around, shake it off, get used to it....it's what playoff football is made of.
There....I said my peace. Now I will keep on celebrating!!
