I think this is as close as the coaches got to each other that day. when, who knows? here's a link to the article and below is the pic

Still trying to stir the pot? Asked and answered pages back. Direct quote from a guy on the field who saw a tearful Cowher meet up with Holmgren after the game, posted by Miss Jasmine.

It was insane to think otherwise. Mike and Bill go way back, no way Mike disrespects a friend.

My five year old high-fived Polamalu. Troy and his friends were sitting on top of the car, rockin' it back an forth and just having a great time. All the players were so happy and close enough to touch. Hines Ward looked like he was going to cry when everyone was chanting, "MVP." Joey Porter signed all kinds of autographs. It was a lot of fun. I'm glad we braved the traffic and went down, but DH's camera ran out of batteries after Cowher passed, so, we have no good pictures.

I think we were close to PAW's husband.
That is so cool!

I've not got caught up on the thread yet. I started at the end and am working my way backward. LOL

Immediately after the game, I turned the NFL Network on for commentary and while they didn't show the handshake, they did show the two together. I have no doubts in my mind that they two shook hands and I have been pretty impressed with the sportsmanship showed by the Seattle team.

More like a hug, but a manly hug of course. They are quite close based on what I have read over the years.

Thanks everyone for posting the pictures! It's been great living vicariously through you Pittsburgh residents! :goodvibes

Ahhh! Sounds like you had a great time. Bummer that your batteries ran out though.

I keep taking your bait don't I? I just posted the pic for show. Some body posted they were going to look for the pic and I hadn't seen it posted yet. Obviously you have a problem w/me. Leave these other STEELERS DISers out of it. Please, just PM me from now on about my posts. You may not get a reply, but I'll still read them. I'm still turning the other cheek and yet you keep smacking it. How many times did Jesus ask us to forgive??? Matthew 18 verse 21&22 NIV...says, "21Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, "Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?" 22Jesus answered, "I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times." So brother/sister, keep being snarky (snarky is my word of the day) to me if you wish via PM. With Jesus help, I can take it.

I anticipate your PMs.

I'm responding to comments about the other side. Nothing more, nothing less. You can be sure the same would happen if people starting going on about the Steelers in another thread. People are going to defend their feelings on the subject.

I suggest leaving Seattle, or anybody associated with the team, out of your comments if you don't want to read responses.

Hey, I don't know any one on your team, that will be easy.

I'm typing late b/c I exercised for an hour riding the stationary bike 20miles and burned 726 calories. There I go explaining myself again, boy am I an idiot. Some how I can see you shaking your head ::yes::.

Good night fellow die hard football fan. Whoops, am I going to get a PM about that?

about the Pro Bowl. It's taken me 12 years to smell the pigskin so fill me in folks. Is it worth watching?

Thanks to those who posted pics!! I enjoyed seeing them.
Couldn't get downtown yesterday, much as I would have loved to. My DH is home recovering from back surgery. We watched the parade on TV.

That is so great!

Dh called his 85 yr old grandfather after the Super Bowl to thank him for taking him to meet Mean Joe Green at some appliance store when he was a little kid!

Thanks everyone for the links and the pictures!

I don't get you throwing around biblical quotes and then still being snarky. :confused3 And yes snarky is a fabulous term for it. Quit fanning the flames.

Let this go, if you want it to really stop. :)

You must not like Porter that much. We all saw his comments about the calls in the Colts game and how the NFL wanted Manning in the SB. I think he was right, and Seatlle fans are not whining any more than he was.

People are calling them as they saw them. Sorry that your SB win will be tainted with the bad calls but that's the way it is. Before the end of the week we'll have the reaction by the NFL officiating committee. Till then...

Way to go Holmgren, we'll pay the fine if we have to... :woohoo: Somebody has to say something for things to get better. :woohoo:
I love Joey Porter as I do all the Steelers. Bottom line is: The Steelers WON the game against the Colts. He said as he felt.

You may say the same, Holgrem commented as he felt, but as LOSERS its sour grapes. You may say our win is tainted, which it is not. Seattle had many chances to get back into the game, which obviously they failed to do. We are happy or should I say estatic about our win.

Too bad the Seattle coaches, players and fans will go down in history as the sore losers..

I am beginning to understand why my DH hates the Steelers and its fans so much. I really think I am the exception. There is no reason to be rude to Cardaway and other Seahawk fans. Again, if the roles were reversed, wouldn't you feel terribly disappointed as well and would be venting some of that frustration.

By making these nasty statements, I think you are helping to take away from the Steelers victory.

And Cardaway, I'll be very surprised to see a statement from the NFL on the refs, the only reason we saw one about the Steelers/Colts game was because the Steelers won.

This is an issue the NFL HAS TO address in the off season. Even with instant replay there are still too many crappy, game affecting calls.

I wish we had ESPN News at work so I could watch the parade. Go Steelers!!! :cheer2:
We didn't ask for Cardaway and the others to come to our thread. As others have said its a celebration thread. We don't need their whining and sour grapes to ruin it. We are a proud Steeler Nation, and do not want anyone dissing our team. Our Superbowl victory has been a long time in coming. After all the "bad" this town has been through. We deserve this "good."

After all the "bad" this town has been through. We deserve this "good."

Ain't that the truth!!! By the way, all the "questionable calls" were reviewed and were deamed correct. (unlike the Polamalu interception in the Colts game)

All the sore losers' complaints are falling on deaf ears here in my house. I know that last Sunday was Seattle's first Super Bowl but I don't know how many times they've been to the playoffs so I'll just tell you this. That's the way playoff football is played. You get one game....not a series like hockey or baseball. One chance. Anyone could have an off game or injury. Crazy things happen...it's part of what makes the game so tense and exciting. Pittsburgh was sputtering in the first quarter...OK maybe the first half...but when 60 minutes was up, Steelers were on top. That's the way it is, and if you don' like it..maybe football's not your game. The Steelers won, deal with it.

Bad calls unfortunately part of it too. It's how your team reacts to it when it comes (and it will come) that determines the outcome. I can't tell you how many times I sat and watched the Steelers get "robbed" of a victory.

Like the game when Bill Cower shoved a picture of the the scrimmage line of 11 Steelers when they were called for having too many men on the field into the referee's pocket??? I realize the refs are part timers and very knowledgable but my six year old can count to 11!

Or the botched coin flip. In overtime...the winners can easily be decided on who get possession of the ball first. You win the coin flip...you win the game!!! Bettis said heads!!! You could hear him!! Do Seattle fans ever wonder why they suddenly change the way coins are flipped? Coins are called heads or tails before it's even thrown in the air because of that fiasco.

Do you remember when the team (can't remember who they were...I want to say New England) missed field goal but because a Steeler accidently knocked into him, was called for "roughing the kicker" and they got to rekick and won the game??? Oh my word...that game hurt.

And the Polamalu interception. Good grief...how can a ref study the replay over and over and still get it wrong! They admitted that was a mistake. Did you see Polamalu's reaction when the ref reversed the call. He shook his head, put his helmet on. And went right back to work.

They shook it off and kept playing. THAT'S class. That's a champion.

The Steelers had tough losses this year, mainly due to injuries to key players.....just part of football. They entered into the playoffs in a difficult situation with their backs against the wall and they overcame it. They overcame bad calls, being the sixth seed, being on the road. They took the card that was dealt to them and won anyway. I'm so proud to be a Steeler fan this year. I only wished that they could have done it by beating New England. After watching them beat us on our own turf to get into the Super Bowl..it would have been sweet to beat them.

So all the people crying and whining about the play calling in the game. Stick around, shake it off, get used to it....it's what playoff football is made of.

There....I said my peace. Now I will keep on celebrating!!
