I'm lucky enough to have lived in Florida since I was four years old, and I love everything Floridaespecially the beach (Ive been dreaming about the feel of salt water on my skincant wait for the weather to be warm enough to swim!), Disney World, St. Augustine, and kayaking any navigable water.
I live in an amazing modern house (most friends have described it as a tree house, but its been called everything from a bird house to a space ship to the weirdest house Ive ever seen) that was built in 1970 by someone who must have been a pretty wild architectit would not have been my first choice of architectural styles, but we bought it for the location (right in the middle of town in a popular university neighborhood) and the lot (wooded, almost an acre with a little creek bordering the back of the property). I love to pan for prehistoric sharks teeth and other fossils, which are plentiful in the creek.
DH and I have been together for 20 years and married for 10 of those. Together, we like to do all the Florida things I mentioned above, plus we love to eat out (Im vegetarian, DH is not, so it gets interesting!), listen to live music, and play with our animals (cat and dog, both rescues).
We have a great local music scene and DH plays the mandolin, guitar, and banjo, so we are acquainted with many local roots music fans (bluegrass, blues, folk, etc.). Nickel Creek is my favorite group (not that they are localI wish!).
I work professionally in health care (two different licenses) plus I buy and sell out-of-print books and ephemera on Amazon and occasionally Ebay. I love yard sales and estate sales, and my shift work (three 12 hour shifts per week, so I always have a 4-day weekend) allows me time to poke around at sales. I do a fair amount of volunteer work and have been active in the movement for single-payer, universal health care insurance. Im a huge mystery novel fan and Im hooked on several series: Carlotta Carlyle (written by Linda Barnes), V.I. Warshawski (written by Sara Paretsky), and Kinsey Milhone (written by Sue Grafton), among others.
DH and I are blissfully childfree but many of our friends over the years have had childrenI love kids but didnt want any of my own. I just turned (gulp!) 50 this year but feel at least 15 years younger!

....but I definitely don't need to call that 1-800-gambling number.... yet....DH and I love to eat out and are known to drive 20 miles or more just to try a restaurant that we've heard so much about. I'll find them online, find the closest one to get to and we're off! I currently work at home taking calls for various companies and I sometimes promote parties and host them on the weekends. There's one tonight for Allen Iverson.
. My favorite restaurants are Romano's Macaroni Grill, Outback Steakhouse, and Famous Dave's barbecue. I'm a Leo and my favorite colors are red, orange, and gray. I love to cook and am a stickler for any new Todd English or Wolfgang Puck gadget from HSN
. You know how they have NA and AA?...well I should be in SA for shopping. I'll admit. I'm Meloney and I'm a shopaholic

He is one of those genuinely good people. I swear I don't deserve him!
. I love being in the office and being with my girlfriends/co-workers.
I've told her that I will never set foot in her house as long as he's around, and now we rarely talk. Even though she lives 5 miles from me. Sad really.
I am very proud of the young man he has become and am secretly hoping he goes to the local University for the first couple of years at least so he can live at home.
