Lets get to know each other thread!

I am a 29 year-old male. I’ve been married for a little over a year now to my first and only girlfriend. We have a 2-year old Cocker Spaniel named Molly.

I am small town kind of guy. Big cities scare me, and I have no desire to seek fame and fortune in a major metropolis. I was born, raised, and still live in the same small town. And since the wife and I are building a house in said small town, I recon I’ll probably die here, too.

I have a very Jeckel and Hyde personality. (Not good and evil, but quiet and not-so-quiet.) When I am around groups of people that I don’t know, I am very quiet. But I have a very wry sense of humor that comes out when I’m around my closest friends. In fact, I’d go so far as to say that I am the life of the party when I’m around my friends. But when I’m around people I don’t know well, I can barely muster 3 sentences.

I don’t really have a hobby. I enjoy cooking and love listening to music, but I wouldn’t consider those hobbies.

My favorite bands are Queen, Led Zeppelin, Metallica, and BB King. I also love classical music, but am not very well versed in it. I just really enjoy listening to it. I do not understand modern music, nor do I have any desire to.

My favorite TV shows are The Office, The Simpsons, The Daily Show, Monty Python’s Flying Circus, and Columbo.

My favorite movies are The Godfather and The Godfather 2, the first three Superman movies with Christopher Reeves, and the Back to the Future trilogy. I also love all three Monty Python movies (Holy Grail, Meaning of Life, and Life of Brian), and any mocumentary by Christopher Guest (Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show, etc).

My first car was a 1973 Chevy Nova that I got in 1993, and I still own it today. My other vehicle is a 1995 Chevy Tahoe with almost 150,000 miles on it. (As you can tell, I have a real hard time getting rid of vehicles.)

And last but not least, I am a procrastinator, and dang proud of it!

Oooooooo....my turn!!!

I am 32 years old. I am married to a wonderful DH, who is also my brother's best friend (it's how we met!) We have two kids- DS7 & DD3. I feel like our family is complete!

I have a job that I absolutely love. I am a 1st grade teacher at a Catholic school. I also attended the school where I teach and now my 2 kids do also! I love researching new methods in education and am particularly interested in learning everything I can about ADHD (which DS has).

Family vacations keep me sane! I feel like i am constantly on the go (as most people are!) and love having vacations to look forward to.

I am a proud graduate of Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama. I absolutely :lovestruc Spring Hill and will die a happy woman if my children decide to go there!

I think the early to mid 90's produced the best music....Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins, Dave Matthews Band, Widespread Panic, and my favorite band of all time.....BLIND MELON. I am semi obsessed with Shannon Hoon. I was in New Orleans the night he died and was supposed to attend the concert at Tipitina's.

I've lived in the suburbs of N.O. all of my life, except for the 4 years of college. I would like to move out of Louisiana, but don't see that happening as DH is a contractor.

Next!! popcorn::

Hi, I am Claire and live in the UK, I am 24(25 next month) and I have a DD called Alisha who is 5 next month, I have a boyfriend of 6 years, and a younger brother and sister aged 19 and 17, so I am the eldest.
I am a student at universtry and I am in my 2nd year of an English Degree. I love reading both the classics and contempary literarture. My favourite poet is William Blake. I am a bit of a geek.

I love music and my faviourite band of all time is Aerosmith.

I am in the processe of planing on trip to WDW in febuary 2008, we are staying at the Beach Club with my DD and Sister. I am really looking forward to it.

We also vist Disneyland Paris a lot as it is a lot nearer to us.

Not yet, I am looking forward to my first trip to WDW though. :)

OK, I'll join in. I'm a 30 year old teacher in England. I teach 9 - 11 year olds at the moment in the same school that I have worked in since qualifying 9 years ago. I have been married for nearly 9 years and do not have children. I met my DH in my first week at university when I was 18 (we were both doing the same music degree) and we have been together since. We have 2 cats and 3 rabbits and a pond full of fish. I am a complete Disney freek which my kids at school find amusing (I have helped quite a few parents with their trips to WDW and DLP!!) My major love is music and the theatre. I am a clasically trained trumpet player and play the flute and clarinet too (although I taught myself these so am not very good at them!) I also like to sing too, although I am quite shy. I love doing musicals with the theatre company I am in, but only do chorus roles as I'm not that good at acting!!
My other major love are rollercoasters, I am an AP holder at the UK's top coaster park and always make a point of trying out new coasters when I visit other countries. This is another thing my kids find amusing, when we go on our end of year trip to the coaster park they all argue that they want to be in my group as I am always the one running to the rides with them!!
So thats me a big kid at heart!!

OK here it goes. I am a 40 yr old Single Female. Have 2 kids one older and a much younger 9 yr old, who keeps me going. Engaged 2 times but never made the walk. Very quiet, like a lot of you, I've noticed. Usually when we go to Disney it is only us 3. I've been working for the same company for the past 15 years. Just got moved to Customer Service and dont really like it, but like the company I work for and it pays the bills. Other than that not too many friends in my life, didnt even feel comfortable going to my Co's Xmas party as a single girl because I'm not too close with the people there. There's been a lot of turnover and the people I am social with arent going to the party. :confused3 I geuss thats why I try to do a lot my daughter and her friends so she wont be too much like mom. But I really do love shopping, traveling and cooking. Have to get back on my exercise program. I've only been off of it for a couple of weeks due to an ankle injury. But I will be back to my aerobics and weight training soon. Hope I didnt go on too much. :)

Ok here goes, I am a 39 year old divorced woman with 2 kids 9 year old daughter and 5 year old son. I was born and raised in The Bronx, and now live
in Worcester MA. I work as a travel agent and also am involved with a health
and wellness company that has helped my son stop taking 7 prescription
medications. When someone comes into my office and asks me where to go on
vacation, I guess you know what I tell them.

Lori :dance3:

I am 34 years old and my family consists of my husband, my 8 y/o son, my 7 y/o boy/girl twins and my 17 y/o brother (who will be leaving us in the fall to attend to college :guilty: ). I have been married for 12 years and have a wonderful husband :cloud9:

I have fun friends. I have one in particular whom I can trust with anything.

I have a degree in elementary education, although I do not work full time. I substitute one to two days a week and I really enjoy it!

I enjoy watching my children learn and expand their minds. They are funny little creatures. I like to try new foods and I love Asian cuisine. I like good wine and gin ;) I have a very sick sense of humor and I am very difficult to offend. I love biographies and history. I have a slight interest in politics, but try not to "get into it" on the DIS. I love WDW, but am not a big fan of Mickey :duck:

I love, love, love dogs. I was never a fan of cats, but as I get older, I am finding them more and more intriguing.

I abhor people who bring children into the world and then forget about them and their needs. I also cringe when I see people that continually bring children into the world, yet do not have the means to care for them.

I like happy, old men :rotfl: I love to talk to my grandparents and hear about "back in the day". I am a singer. I sing at weddings and funerals. I like funerals better...the people are more sincere. I think it is sad that 50% of married couples divorce :guilty: :guilty: I trust cars made by Subaru. I like Starbucks coffee...black. I was once bitten by a spider and had to go to the ER. I still don't mind spiders, but I hate snakes. I love when we drive a far distance and the kids fall asleep and DH and I talk in the car. I like Car Talk :cloud9: I clean my ears (and the kids'!) EVERYday with Q-Tips!!!

I spend way too much $$$ at sierratradingpost.com , zappos.com, Gymboree and landsend.com  Straight and white teeth for all :teeth: I love the movie The Graduate. I love showtunes. I love the smell of gasoline and Magic Markers. Table manners, please. Also, children with manners...for sure! I am a compulsive ironer and iron just about everything my family wears :sad2:

I love when my kids get off the bus on a Friday  I like diet Coke. I like to laugh. I like my life :goodvibes

And that is me :teeth:

im 22 and i live in new jersey..I am finishing up classes at college and will start student teaching in january and graduate from college May 11! I work part time at a day care center and will hopefully teach kindergarten or first grade starting next school year.
I live at home with my parents and brother, and rottweiler champ.
I am not married ,but am dating the same guy i dated in high school...I love country music and hate winter!!
Cruises and disney are my favorite vacations!

I know I wasn't asked this but can I answer?

DLP and WDW are so different. WDW is a total holiday where as DLP is just for a few days. Saying that they are both so different but in good ways. I love the Disneyland Park at DLP, in fact I prefer it to the MK (I think they took the best eliments out of several of the WDW parks and put in all into the Disneyland Paris park.) However the Studios at Paris do not compare to MGM (although this will be better once the ToT is built.)
The Disneyland Park at DLP is great, the Space Mountain is a great rollercoaster as is Indiana Jones. I love the castle too as it has a dragon in the basement which you can go see. Also BTMRR goes under the lake and the mountain part is on its own in the middle of the lake. The Disneyland hotel is amazing too, like the GF only it is built over the enterence to the park. Also Paris is only 30 minutes away on the train which is great!!

Saying that though it does not compare to WDW which I adore as WDW is so much bigger with so much more to do.

I am looking forward to my next trip to the USA when we are visiting Disneyland. It will be interesting to compare the origional Disney park to DLP as they are more comparable in size.

OK, I'll try this.

I'm 40-mumble... ;), OK 48 and still have a hard time believing I'm over 30. I'm married and have a 13 year old son.

I live in Texas and expect to stay here but I'd love to get back to the Houston area. I was an Air Force brat and spent part of my life in Holland. I know Dutch sort of well and love Dutch food, culture and so on.

I LOVE to travel. My favorite places are Eureka Springs, Arkansas, the river road area of Louisiana and (don't shoot me) Universal Florida. Of course WDW is OK too. I also loved San Diego and need to spend more time there. Mountains are also favorites and I would love to see every mountain range someday. My short list includes Switzerland, Great Britain, Pompei, Banff, Grand Tetons and Yellowstone. Oh, Hawaii< Barbados (everyone from that island is incredibly nice!) and St Kitts/Nevis are on it too.

My interests are all over the place and can be odd. I've done a bit of ghosttowning and I'm wildly interested in ghosthunting. I believe! I also enjoy antiques, history (and the places where it happened), wildlife, movies, old towns, reading, music and musicals among other things. Bands I like best right now are GreenDay, U2, Stone Sour, Metallica and the Goo Goo Dolls but it changes. I love country music too.

I love food. Indonesian is a big favorite and I wish that it would become more popular here. In the meantime, I'll enjoy Tex-Mex, Italian, Chinese and ice cream! I also need chocolate and I love British tea. Or Starbucks chai lattes.

OK, that's enough. Or too much depending on your viewpoint. ;)

Hello I'm 46 married, female. I have 2 kids DD 15 from a prior marriage and DS 10. I have 3 dogs and a cat, all rescues. I have a job that I like, not love, but lately its become challenging.

I'm considered quiet maybe even boring, but I have a wicked sense of humor (which I display here under an alter ego).

I love to swim, travel, read, watch old movies, and find and buy art by emerging artists. I am a history buff and a politics junkie. My favorite TV channels are History channel and the C-Spans.

I live in the upper midwest but I hate cold weather, so I'm exploring retirement in Panama.

I love Italian food and drink way too much Mt Dew.

ETA: I kill threads so this will be the last post.

I'm 41, married, have one daughter who is 17. I also have a stepson who is a complete dirtbag (but I won't go into that). ;) My husband and I also just became grandparents to the dirtbag's daughter (who we love despite her loser father). :)

We live with my parents until we move into our new house (should be next week). We have a dog and 2 cats.

I have MS and I don't work. DH works for the railroad and is out of town alot.

I'm very low-maintenance. I love most music, except classical and really hard core new rock (think Squizz if you have XM). ;)

I think of myself as the nice girl who doesn't like to make waves. I'm a pretty private person and I love to be alone - and it drives me insane when people say "You should get out more" - I like being by MYSELF - I don't get that they don't get it. :rotfl:

Whew.... I have enjoyed reading about everyone else! What a diverse group of people on the Dis!

Hi everyone! I am a 34 yo SAHM of two very interesting children DS2 Evan & DD5 Madison. I have been married to the love of my life for 16 years. In my previous life, I was a mortgage loan processor for 8 years & a hair stylist for 7 years. Interesting combo, no? I have been at home with my children for the past 2 1/2 years. We live in So. California, not far from Disneyland in the home I grew up in. Oh, and my parents live here, too. We'll save that story for a rainy day.

We are a Disney obsessed family and visit the mouse 2-3 times a month. We became uber obsessed when we took our first trip to WDW this past Sept and can't wait to go back next year.

My favorites are: FOOD: Italian food and you just can't beat a good steak.
TV: Grey's Anatomy - LOST - and most recently Brothers & Sisters. CHARACTER: Minnie Mouse, she's cute and I love the shoes!
I love to read... anything, really! Nothing like a great story to sink your mind in. I love the holidays starting from Halloween, which is my fav!

My future goals are to work for the Walt Disney Travel Company, move out of California, and become DVC members! :thumbsup2

Nice to meet you!

I'm 14. An only child.
My parents and cousins, as well as my best friends, are my back bone. I'd be hopeless without their support, care, and even, yes, arguing.
I've been playing the piano for seven years, and the clarinet for four. I'm also first chair. Okay enough bragging.
Music is my life. I love all kinds.
I like Desperate Housewives. (I watch it with my mom) Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, and NCIS. (I watch NCIS with my entire family.)

I don't have a boyfriend or anything.
I believe that someday, my prince will come.

I really want to get married at the Wedding Pavillion at the GF.

My eyes also change colors with my mood. (anywhere from blue, grey, to green.)

Well I love the idea of this thread and meeting some DIS Board members, so here goes... Hope I don't bore you all to tears!

I'm a 27 year old, unattached, female living in freezing Upstate NY. I'm currently teaching preschool in an integrated program at a childcare center, though on Wednesday I was contacted by a Catholic School to perhaps begin teaching kindergarten in Jan. '07. I love teaching and am permanently certified to teach elementary school in NYS - though it seems difficult to find a permanent teaching position (or any other job) locally right now!

My family consists of my mom, my dad, and myself... Yup - so far I'm the second only-child listed here. In my own defense most people wouldn't know that I'm an only child simply by talking with me. I had an easy childhood, with an extremely over-protective mom. My dad worked for a company that closed the doors of it's 100+ year-old manufacturing plant in May '02. That's when life became more difficult - it was difficult for my father to find/adjust to a new job at 55+ years old. My mother has been a "domestic goddess" (read: homemaker) for almost my entire life. I'm also surrounded by my maternal extended family. We were all born here and aside from my two cousins, we haven't left. Lately I've been pondering moving to FL for next school year.

I enjoy reading, tv, music, and movies. I'm addicted to the Harry Potter books and movies (I'll just die if JK Rowling kills off Harry!), Grey's Anatomy, and a guilty pleasure in reality tv is Big Brother! My music style is pretty eclectic - I like Broadway musicals, Top 40, alternative, hip hop, rap, and pop/rock! My current favorite group is The Fray! I'll give almost any movie "a go," but I really need to be drawn into the story to decide that I loved it... Just this past summer I took up golf, and really enjoy playing - though anyone who plays with me must be extremely patient! (I averaged about 80-90 shots in 9 holes each time I played this summer. Thank goodness for my dad being my golf partner!)

I love food, though I'm a little picky... I guess I just don't spread myself out well enough in this area. I love carbs - I think I could single handedly polish off an entire loaf of Italian bread all by myself in one sitting. I love pizza, pasta, and really any kind of bread/chip/etc... I've also developed a taste for Mexican food...

I love WDW - obviously, that's why I'm here on the DIS... I can't afford to go there as much as I'd like, but I'm optimistic that someday it'll work out that I will be able to! My five year old cousin ruined our trip a little this past November, so I'm hoping to be able to go on my next trip with my best friend instead!

One private thing about me is that I'm terrified to move away from my family, it seems to be inevitable that it's going to happen, I just don't really want it to. I love my whole family so much and they are my support system. I've always dreamed of raising a family here, so that my children would be surrounded by all the love that I have been surrounded by and not I'm so scared that it might not work out that way.
