DVC Chit Chat Thread

I wonder if we can talk freely there are if we will be censored from speaking about certain brokers etc.

Either way I will will for sure check it out. The best question is.. Do I get a new persona and pretend I’m not me …. 🤔🤔🤔
You should be TexasCattleRancher. That would be a good disguise. 🤣
The DIS chose not to renew due to a conflict related to travel agency partnerships.

That said, we truly value this community and have always appreciated the forum format. It’s been an incredible space to connect, talk all things DVC, and share insights over the years. From being among the first to discuss DVC news to tracking ROFR activity and average sales trends, it’s meant a lot to be part of those conversations.

With the transition and new sponsorship in place here, we expect there will be fewer opportunities for us to participate in the same way. That’s what led us to create our own forum, so we can continue sharing our passion for DVC along with the data, insights, and meaningful discussions that have always been important to us.
Thank you for the transparency. I certainly hope you'll be able to continue participating here in the same capacity, but I understand if you can't.
Also, does anyone else think it’s crazy that a Poly 2BD TPV and a BW GV are practically the same point cost some seasons…. 🤯
Sadly, that's why I kind of gave up on my fantasy of booking the Tower. The point chart is ridiculously high compared to the other resorts.

We stayed in the standard Poly 2BD last year. It was beautiful (and we got the opportunity to watch Florida Wildlife & Game wrangle an alligator across the road where the water had backed up from our deck) but it was ALOT of points. I'd rather throw that many at the Cascade cabins.

Whomp whomp whomp!

I loved having my very first AP. Without DVC I never would’ve had one. I don’t think I’m renewing. I need to do the math and see if it makes sense for the next year, but I don’t think it does.

We are still on the fence about whether or not to get a Sorcerer's pass. It's a gamble for us since our trips will be almost exact 1 year apart.

Give me a real Disneyland DVC MK discount….

I always check to see if a MK would make sense for us and it just doesn't...which bums me out a bit. I miss having a Disneyland AP!

Yeah for me to do the sorcerers I would need 2 week buffer at least and the savings would need to be decent.

Magic Key doesn't make sense for us either and we even go more than you.

I heard about Universal floating the idea of tracking total in-park spending on things like merch, food, express pass, etc. and then giving discounted pass rates or additional perks based on the amount your family spends.
Wow. I don't think I like that idea.

I wonder if they would advertise that or just do it behind the scenes. I could see it rubbing a lot of people the wrong way.

It’s quite the coincidence that I wanted to post this and came across @Road_Dog ‘s post earlier while catching up. Also thinking out loud.

Anyone on here have (or had at one time) young kids?

We bought 50 points, which would get us about a week every 2 years at AKV, OKW, SSR, etc.

Couple things to consider:
-we have to fly down
-would need transportation to and from airport
-kids are in school

Any suggestions on what worked for you in the past? Would you rather a week every 2 years or 3-4 nights each year? I would even be open to hearing about taking younger kids on multiple trips each year, aka getting more points lol.

Just want to hear what worked or didn’t work for you.

Things are a bit different for us since our son is on an alternative curriculum. When we pull him out of school, he technically doesn't miss much. But even so, we only like to pull him out for 1 week each year in the winter.

I would consider taking trips over spring break or other little breaks...but we just don't have enough points to do that unless we decide to take LESS trips. But I think that is a good option for people if they have the points.

Overwhelmed with the responses. Read them quickly and lots of great info. Would like to read them again because there may be some important info. I missed. Really appreciate it. Does seem like things will change and we will have to be able to adapt.

Things will definitely change. Since purchasing DVC, we are wanting to go more often than before. And stay in larger rooms.

Lots of people on here love 1 bedrooms. I don’t get them. I don’t think I’ve ever stayed in one. Done lots of studios, 2 bed and GVs but never a 1 br. It’s not really that many more points to go up to a 2 br. Or you could do 2 studios for the price of a 1 bedroom, and sleep twice as many. Of course you’re sacrificing kitchen and w/d, but still. Maybe it’s just me, but I just don’t get it.

How many people are in your family? A 1-bedroom at Disneyland is perfect for us since there are plenty of beds AND 2 bathrooms. At WDW, a 1-bedroom is also fine, though we'd love a proper second bedroom so I can see us bumping to a 2BR, when able.

But a two bedroom for our DLR trips would just seem unnecessary for the 3 of us.

Can someone remind me if a notary is needed if you are buying a FL resale property as a cash buyer?

We haven't purchased since 2024, but we didn't need a notary. We did have to wire the money over which required us to go to the bank to do. But not a huge deal.

Heading home from Hilton Head’s DVC resort. Great stay! Reminded me of vacations when I was young: lots of low tech fun, beach time, pool time, crafts…those CMs work hard to make a great experience with Disney magic for the kids. I saw them doing multiple jobs! We all enjoyed it, and the weather was absolute perfection.

Loved: the Beach House pool, the beach, the hammocks, big deck, nice pool near the quick service, basketball nearby, and all the CMs. Tons of trees and wildlife at the resort. The marsh is beautiful. Dole whips! Kroger is very close. The kitchen is quite serviceable for cooking.

Things we’d like to change: would be great to have a light on the deck so you can eat dinner there in the evening. Quick service should be open after 5 pm. Slide is a bit slow. My kids say Beach House pool should also have a slide. Wish the 2 bedroom had a 3rd bathroom (I would upgrade to a larger villa next time for 6 people).View attachment 1062059View attachment 1062061View attachment 1062057View attachment 1062058View attachment 1062060

I want to go here so bad someday! But I'm bummed to hear quick service wouldn't be open for dinner.

That's the thing that's preventing me from visiting VB! really don't like bug bites

SAME. Bugs seems to eat my husband alive. But I'm hoping I can convince him to do HHI sometime because I think bugs aren't quite as bad as VB.

To me it was like heated seats in the car in the cold freezing winter. Before I had a car with ones I just didn’t get it. Once I got a car with them, I just couldn’t go back.

Yep! And my most recent car also has cooled seats which are amazing in summertime. I can't go back.

I would love for them to bring back the pass that covers WDW and DLR. I honestly think that would be a game changer for VDH sales.

I would purchase this in a heartbeat.

We figured that we'd need to go to Disneyland 3 times (since we do 5 days each time) for the MK to be worth it. And that just won't be happening.

At first this seems a little "big brother is watching," but I always thought Disney should have a loyalty program like traditional hotels. I honestly wouldn't mind it for both Uni and Disney. I think it would be beneficial to me personally based on what I would purchase.

I didn't renew my 2 boys APs this year.

I just had to buy them each a 2-day park ticket, and did not enjoy that experience at all.
The price of individual tickets really sting! Two, two-day tickets can almost be the price of the Sorcerer Pass depending on the season!

The reality is that they are already tracking it.

I am not prepared for the sticker shock of taking our entire family next summer.

@HyperspaceMountainPilot @RivGirl I think the spirit jerseys are all so cute. I’m lucky they look horrific on me so I don’t have to buy them all.
Oh I think they are cute on the rack…but they make me look more like Mike Wazowski (sic) than I want. I do own a few anyway, but they sit in my closet reminding me of the happy memories that inspired me to buy them.
I love them and unfortunately don’t care what they look like on me so buy anyway!!! Hahahah
This is probably the right way to live, but many of them are also uncomfortable for me.
We used to be anti spirit Jersey…. then we learned to just buy a size smaller… now they are Core evening wear. 🤣
I tried that and while it’s less unflattering, it was also less comfortable…I only own 3, but I think the fit can really vary by fabric and design and some of them are quite constricting.

This would probably be good news for families that always buy LL, merch, and F&B, but over the long run, bad news for APs who go and don’t spend much on each trip…as a for profit business, it makes sense they want to get people like me who can’t visit without acquiring merch (and churros and LLs) into the parks more often…but I also suspect even those AP discounts aren’t coming unless we start visiting less on our own…
