I am wearing thin. :faint: ...I have been in labor for a couple days now. My due date is January 22nd, but this little one is trying to make an early appearance.
Contractions are irregular (30 minutes- 1 1/2 hours apart)- some in my back, some in my legs....UGH!!

Give me some help to get this going....what are all of those old wives' tales that can help?? (I see the doctor today at 4:00, so I am hoping that they will induce after she sees the frustration and exhaustion in me!!)

HELP!!!

Not an old wives tale - but my DH took me along to the garbage dump (in a pickup, no less) - and I went into ful-blown labor a couple of hours later and gave birth within 12 hours.

Others claim a little "cuddle time" with your DH does the trick. ;)

Keep us updated as to what the Dr. says. :)

Walk, walk, walk. Your doctor may tell you that when you go this afternoon. Walking makes those muscles work....on top of your contractions. I feel for you....you're gonna be exhausted if you go into hard labor!

Ditto!!! Not that you even have that on your mind, but semen supposedly does something to the cervix. (Sorry if TMI!!)

Good luck and keep us updated!! :)

I can totally sympathize with you. My due date is also the 22nd, but I'm having another c-section, which is scheduled for this Tuesday (the 17th). I cannot wait for this baby to come. I am so done being pregnant.

Hang in there and good luck to you.

We used accupressure and had great success with it. The spot L14 which is deep in the webbing between thumb and finger should be stimulated in a round motion for about 5 minutes at a time, one hand, then the other. Then wait 15 minutes and try again. You should know when you hit the point, you will feel it.

Also, sp6 illustration here helps as well. using these two together over a 5 hour time period took me from 2 cm's and irregular contractions to fully dialated and delivered.

good luck, I know how frustrating this can be!

In my experiences plan on NOT having the baby and that works.

DD#1 we had a party to go to...never made the party.

DD#2, day after Christmas, tons of stuff to do...wake up in labor, never did go shopping that day or anything else. DH had tickets for the hockey game that night, never made it.

DD#3 ...well, she was late, I was supposed to go for s stress test that day...never made it cause I was already delivered by the time my appointment was scheduled for.

Well, I am going to be induced on Monday- kind of a relief to know that it is going to happen, but still hoping that some of your ideas may work over the weekend. I would rather go on my own- but don't think I can wait until the 22nd. So....Castor Oil, walking and "quiet time with hubby"...Hear I come!!

:flower3: Have a little "quiet time" with Dh, that will help. If not....welllll.
Hope that everything works out for you.

With my 1st she was a few days late but I ate really spicy buffalo wings. My midwife told me to try that as it has the same effect as Castor Oil but with less mess.
Also "time with the hubbster" will help as seminal fluid has a natural prostaglandin in it which is some of what is found in pitocin. Also nipple stimulation has worked for some people. And the big O should also help with uterine contractions if you can get "there". ;)

My 2nd I took Black and Blue Cohosh and within 24 hours I was in full blown labor. I also had hubbster time and walked forever. We had a treadmill and I remember being so miserable and just trudging on that treadmill for 30 min, rest for 20, back on it for 30. I had terrible sciatic nerve pain that would almost drop me to my knees but it sure did make my delivery and labor easier.

My sil swears by the castor oil milkshake. She's taken it with all 4 kids and has gone into labor within a few hours after drinking the 2nd one. She mixed 2oz castor oil with vanilla ice cream and OJ. Sounds gross but she swears by it. The ice cream emulsifies the castor oil and makes it almost like a creamsicle. But do be aware that it will clean you out on the bottom end like you've probably never known but she swears it helped.

Also Evening Primrose Oil capsules you can buy at a natural health food store have been said to work as they have prostaglandin in them as well.

Good luck! I know how frustrating the last few weeks are which is why I quit ;) I wish for you to have a safe and healthy delivery and baby!!!

As a Labor and Delivery nurse DO NOT TAKE CASTOR OIL!!!!!!!!!! It will only make you miserable. Doesn't do anything other than give you diarhea .

Actually walking may help - or at least doesn't hurt and gives you something to do other than watching the clock. But my advice for contractions that are that far apart is to get some rest, you will need it for when real labor hits

Hey ladies!!!! The 22nd is great date. That's my birthday. Seriously hope all goes well for all these new Aquarians popping into the world.

Thanks guys! I wish you all PG Diser's a smooth delivery.

I agree on just resting these last few days...I know, now, why they call it LABOR..I am soo exhausted already!! :faint:

Now that I have an end to look forward to, I just think I will chill out and get some last minute details completed. I may never get this chance again for 18 years. (But the "Hubby time" sure would be nice, since this is probably the last time for a LONG while for us. :guilty:
I am still very uncomfortable to walk around and a little nervous to drive far (contractions have been 30 minutes apart). So, I am forced to wait on this little one to tell me when until Monday.
Funny how they train you to be on their beck and call from the very beginning, isn't it???? ;)

Just wanted to say good luck to you!

I was induced with my first two (had a c-section with the twins) so I kind of know what you are going through. Anyways hope you have a safe and relatively easy delivery. :flower:

Dance... put on some music and dance with hubby!

:cool1:

If that doesn't work... try that semen thing MnMom suggests :rotfl2:
