Let's Get Ready To Crumble! A dining PTR - And we're off!

First of all, if there is an award for "funniest thread title of the year" you should start writing your acceptance speech immediately... :lmao:

Secondly, I have to tell you that Yak & Yeti is a wonderful restaurant, and one of our favorites. Most especially the lettuce wrap appies and the incredible Chinese spare ribs. Heaven on a plate. :cloud9:

Also, some of the best restaurants on property can be found at The Dolphin hotel. It's not on the DDP, but the seafood at "bluezoo" is amazing. Or, for much less of an "investment", the burgers and flat breads at "The Fountain" are hands down the best in all of "the world".

Remember that The Dolphin is an easy walk or boat ride from Epcot's "back door". :wizard:

Thanks Joshua!

We are VERY much looking forward to the Yak and Yeti - we have heard such good things about it and it looks like our kind of place!

We have spotted some great reviews for The Dolphin (especially Bluezoo) and we really would like to try it sometime. Maybe for that romantic trip Simon and I are going to make without the kids at some point in the future?:rotfl:

We went to Yak & Yeti last summer against my wishes and ended up loving it. I had my Mom, my Aunt, and my kiddos and it was our first day at WDW. We were hot and miserable (might I add cranky). The 5 of us split the mandarin chicken salad, beef & broc, and the honey chicken. It was really good and the theming was really cool too.

Do you remember what that banana yumminess is above and which restaurant has it?? The pic reminds me a little of bananas foster.

Amiee - it was at California Grill - Sarah had it for dessert. I think it was called banana butterscotch buzz or something similar. She really enjoyed it.

I've just responded to someone in the trip report forum who was saying how sub-standard the food is at WDW. I don't know where he's been eating! Or maybe I just have low standards!:rolleyes1

Good to know about the Cali dessert. We have it in the works. Who knows? I might even switch a few ADR's around to visit it twice. I had a momentary lapse of reason and found some Signature's that I really wanted to visit in addition to Jiko :rolleyes1 so I upgraded to deluxe.

As far as the bad food goes, I have only dined at a few places at WDW, but never had sub-par food. I have had some horrendous service, but I can't blame the food for that. Take Big River for example, I had lunch and dinner there during the Half Marathon. Both times, the food was really good. For lunch I had a Hickory Bacon Burger (I eat, therefore I run :lmao:). I'm not a beer drinker at all (yucky), but at the urging of a beer loving team mate, I tried the beer flight. I have to say that many of them were very tasty. When the rest of our team arrived, we managed to eat dinner there and it was fabulous. I had the Hazelnut Crusted Chicken. Once again, this was mouthwatering and really not that expensive. Really, I think it's an eye of the beholder situation.

Amiee - do I see you are going to CBR soon? We stayed there in 2008 and absolutely loved it!:lovestruc

We are hoping that OKW has a similar laid back vibe to CBR - it's nice to have somewhere relaxing to escape to!

Yes - it seems to be service rather than quality of food that makes or breaks a meal. But overall - the standard of food in WDW is better than we have found anywhere else in the world!

Yes, we fly out Sept 2nd. I love CBR - stayed there twice. This is our first on property family stay.

Well, I hope you have a lovely time and I look forward to hearing all about it when we both get back!:)

Simon and I were looking at the information about Via Napoli last night and Simon in particular is loving the look of the half metre pizzas!

I like Italian food well enough (in fact, I'm going out for an Italian meal tonight with some friends from school!:rolleyes1) but it would never be my first choice of restaurant - especially not in WDW with so many other choices!:thumbsup2

But Via Napoli looks interesting so we might give it a go when we're in World showcase. If anyone has any info or pictures I'd love to see them! Right! Off to do some more holiday shopping!

your intro made me :lmao::lmao: but I understand :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Very Cute, Have a Wonderful Pixie Dust Filled Trip :wizard:

That's exactly why DH and I shy away from Italian places in the World...we figure we can get Italian food right down the block from home (plus between the two of us we're pretty good cooks), whereas there are so many other things to experience around WDW which aren't so easy for us to try every day.

Looking forward to reading more!

The day when Simon leaves us to go to his Star Wars Convention, me and the girls are hoping to try several of the World Showcase Fast food meals - like Morrocco, Japan, Mexico, Norway etc. We're going to eat around the world! (And I may have a drink or two!!)

Have a great trip!!!

Thanks! We are all packed and just about ready to go! Almost time to order the ritual pre-holiday takeaway before trying to get an early night! We can't decide between indian and chinese though!:)

I'll get straight onto posting some food pictures as soon as we get back!
