Hi. Am am just trying to educate myself on the current problems with the DDP. And I just read about the confusion for servers with large parties who split between 2-3 tables (sometimes with two servers too). Okay, I see the crazyness and I was just wondering if we can come up with plans to simpliply the madness.
Tipping:
From what I gather...For me, I will bring cash for tip. If I need to use my room key, I will tell server at beginning of meal that I am on the DDP and I understand what is included with the plan...And I would like to pay for the tip for our bill with my room key. I might just go ahead and say I am going to tip at 18 or 20 percent. To save time.
Everyone who purchases the DDP should understand that plan excludes tip. Us here on these dis boards know the plan inside and out. Maybe for others, they just need to be a little educated. Why can't the host or hostess who checks us in at the podium breifly say. For your party, tips are not included on DDP. For your convience and the efficiency of our servers please be aware of how you would like to add gratuities, as they must be entered the same times as your DDP credits. Doesn't this help with some of the embarrasment from the servers? Simple...Take like 3 seconds to say.
Back to the large party situation...
When my family and I get together sometimes on Sundays for a dinner out. There are usually 5-7 families. Often, adults are at a few tables and child are also scattered at other tables. This is how we order. I am a family of three. Point...here and here. We would like one water, one coke and the little one would like a sprite. I would like entree X, my hubby would like entree X, and my dd would like x. That is the end of our ticket. Thanks so much. Sometimes my dd orders and aptitizer. Not problem if it comes to my table, I just pass it on to her.
Why can't the tickets at Disney be organized in this fashion. If a server is organized at the beginning, doesn't that make check out more efficient. Would it be a problem if the kids table doesn't necessarily have a ticket for the table because parents ordered for them. There is so much confusion and time being wasted.
As for the tip for these large parties. It's no problem for me. Saves me calculation time. Let me back out the door to enjoy more disney asap. I find that I actually tip more than 18%. So I figure, let them tell me what to pay for the tip. In almost all cases, I would have tipped a few more dollars.
Thanks for your time. What are your thoughts?
Thanks to everyone for educating me about the DDP for my trip last Sept.
