Started doing the Vape thing New Year's Eve. Glad to say tobacco free 5 months now. So what is going on in the parks? love to hear everyone's feedback on this. Just want to hear honest opinions from everyone. Where is it ok to Vape and where its not. Waiting in line for a ride, Restaurants, Parades, Fireworks, Shows, and even rides like POTC? When you see someone Vape does it make you uncomfortable? Do you wonder about the safety?

Vaping is only allowed in DSA's.

First congrats on being 5 months smoke-free! I am 15 months smoke free but I do not vape but have friends that do.As has been stated please adhere to the rules and only vape in the DSA's.Although vaping is a better choice than smoking a cigarette/cigar/pipe it is still considered smoking at Disney as well as other places and should only be done in designated areas at such places.I wish you continued success!

Oh Wow! This will be a huge problem for me. I am actually allergic to cigarette smoke. So standing in a smoking area will make me very ill. I used smoke less tobacco for 20 years. I have actually never been on a ride at Disney with not having a "dip" in my mouth. Why are they considering vape the same as smoking? Does Disney have this in policy or is it just courtesy thing?

To comment on how it makes me "feel"

I have a friend that does it and was over at my house for the first time for an extended period to where he vaped. I wasn't exactly sure how I felt but I did feel as if he should do it outside which I will require next time.

Vaping is a very new thing and the research has not been done on the health effects as much since its not really regulated but from what I have read I don't want to be around it. While its better than smoking all the particulates and nicotine that you inhale doesn't say in your lungs some of it will be put back into the air (you can see the "smoke" when someone exhales).

I applaud Disney for moving this habit only to DSA as it likely does have negative second hand issues. As well as vaping is becoming an issue for youth who now turn to vaping even prior to ever trying a cigarette.

If you are allergic to cigarette smoke, what did you do before when you were a smoker? Presumably you used DSAs then :confused3

It is policy not courtesy. I'd suggest just not using anything then and if you are deathly allergic to smoke then you will have major issues on certain through ways in the World as the smoke is everywhere in those places.

It's policy. Sorry.

Disney's actually not the only entity that is restricting vapers to smoking areas. They are well aware it's not the same as smoking but they do it anyway.

I used smokeless tobacco so I could go anywhere with it and not even my DD knew I had it in my mouth! I have tried patches, Lozenges, and everything I could do to stop. Started using at age 13 so very very proud of myself for stopping. Would not to "test" myself on vacation

If Disney was doing this out of concern for kids wouldn't they take out smoking all together. As a non drinker or drug user I don't understand this logic. Smoking and drinking have been a huge problem with teens for many years but they still allow both. I understand they have lack of research but the lack research argument is actually coming from the tobacco lobby.

OP as others have stated the best advice is to think of using your electronic cigarette the same as you would a tobacco product :)

Well done for stopping. I have a good friend who vapes and I know, from his experience, he actually finds it hard to be around smokers so I understand your issue. How about trying Nicorette gum or similar for when you're at the parks and save vaping for when there are no other smokers in the DSAs or when you are not within the confines of the park?

I don't think Disney are doing it out of concern for the kids. As somebody said earlier in the thread, the effects are not widely known or understood and so Disney has chosen to treat vapers the same as smokers so as not to upset the non-smokers.

I'm really not sure I understand the argument. I don't think Disney is doing this out of concern for kids but rather, as a way to make all guests as comfortable as possible. You yourself said you are allergic to smoke. Smoke bothers many (if not most) non-smokers. To get around this, they have designated areas where the smokers can smoke and the non-smokers can (hopefully) avoid. I've never heard of a person being physically bothered by drinking. That is, I've never heard of cirrhosis of the liver due to being around drinking or various forms of cancer due to second-hand drinking. They are not the same horse. There is still nicotine and smoke in Vape. This means it still carries potential health risks for those around people using Vape, I would assume. Disney is trying to keep all of its guests as comfortable as possible and believes that having people who use Vape do it in a DSA.

Congrats on going cigarette-free!

As others have said, to avoid any issues, I would stick to the designated areas. Also, keep in mind, smoking is not permitted in any Disney Resort Hotel room and I'd imagine this includes vaping.

That is shocking to me. It makes me very sad if this is the message that people around the county and Disney are adhering to. Don't you think this exactly the message that the tobacco company's want everyone to think? As they continue to kill millions of people!

What you need to understand is that Vape still has carcinogens and there are studies that show it does pose a second-hand risk. Because of this, why should Disney not play it safe and confine them to the smoking areas?

Folks please keep the thread on topic. The debate about the rights and wrongs of vape smoking, whether you are a non-smoker, the reformed or a chain smoker is not relevant to this board.
Continuation on this will result in the topic being closed and posts deleted.

While you both have interesting arguments, I'm not sure if this is the forum to be having this discussion on. Perhaps, the community board is better suited for this discussion.

Not trying to poke my head in others' business or anything, just don't want to get this thread closed for being off topic. Hopefully, no hard feelings!:goodvibes
