It will be a rumpus in my school tomorrow.

I work in an urban school with a strong African American population. I am excited so I can only imagine what my kids are thinking.

We've been doing a unit on the election and we have been talking about all the presidents.

I had one of my boys say to me a few days ago "Ms. B?-- Why hasn't there ever been a black president? What did we do wrong?" I remember hearing the hurt in this student's voice and how he couldn't really understand the process.

I can't wait to see this student's eyes tomorrow! I have a feeling that the kids will get nothing done tomorrow.

I'm back - Montana went blue!!! This is a state where in a university town several years ago, I went out to dinner in a small neighboring town with my white friend, her Tanzanian husband and their baby and got glares from the townsfolk. I am immensely relieved as a native Montanan to see that race was not an issue!
