Welcome, ladies, to our new home. Glad to do our part to speed things up on the DIS. :goodvibes

We would come find you:hug:
Yeah. With Melissa, all we have to do is leave a trail of martinis and we'd find her. With you, though, since you don't drink . . . maybe a trail of stray cats that need a new home?!?!? :)

:goodvibes Sandy pm'd me to keep me alive...:worship: thank you for keeping me in the loop...I am re-naming myself NG for Neglectful Loser! I am hoping ot improve my poor socialization skills...on a quick side note....DD was having some heart issues but literally just got off the phone and she is fine! Whew! She will be relieved to know that is not a roadblock on her way to college!
O.K. NG off for now....but wait, it's Friday , and martini's were mentioned....as soon as I finish baking DH's Bday cake, and cleaning for DD's post dance party tomorrow...( turnabout, yes, with Art Guy )
On the upside we moved the computer to the kitchen so I am closer to it while baking/cleaning!

Now that the puter is in the kitchen I hope you can keep up with us. We are generally chatty in the mornings when we are all drinking our coffee and trying to work up the motivation to actually get something done.

The college thing is tough, what is the worst case, your DD can borrow the money for whatever college she really wants. There is nothing in the parent handbook that says we must pay for the college of their choice. I know lots of kids that will not get any financial help at all yet that has not detered them, it has helped them make wiser choices. Thus the reason my DS is going local vs. Oregon State. 9K vs. 32K - he did the math.

Personally as we were all just discussing on the old thread kids spend our money easily but seem to take a much closer look at how important something really is before they fork out their hard earned funds. Is your DD still looking at the Ringling Art school?

Hon, you KNOW the same thing could be said about me. Except it would be red wine!!!! :thumbsup2
Speaking of Red wine, when I was at that MaryKay party last week the girls where drinking a red wine that was called Layer Cake or Cake or something along those lines and they were raving about it. I will have to get the name from my friend.

Oh, another thing I had at the fireworks that didn't happen party:
Almond Champagne with a splash of chocolate wine (yep, it was a wine complete with a cork) this was a very nice cocktail, unusual, different and pretty tasty.

Let me know the name of the wine when you get it.

I had some chocolate wine at a Silpada silver jewelry party; maybe my taste buds aren't sophisticated enough but I couldn't taste the chocolate. :confused3 And here I thought that the combination of two of the BEST tastes ever (chocolate AND red wine) would take me totally over the edge. . . :rotfl:

Well, I'd say it's official, y'all have me figured out (although dogs qualify, and I did have a rescue horse too, and then there's the baby squirrel and baby goat we bottlefed :rolleyes1 ).

I think it's just easier to call you Dr. Doolittle!!! :cutie:

I will - what do you think of that Silpada, I bought the glass bead bracelet but it was too small and one of the beads were broken. It went back, I am not a big jewelry person, but I did like that bracelet, it was similar to the Pandora style silver bracelet that I do wear.
My DD got the "wish" box bracelet for Christmas from a friend, but it was too small and I need to get it exchanged.

The chocolate wine I had was distinctively chocolate tasting, I'll ask my friend who hosted if she can track down the name of it also.

Glad to hear that everything's okay. When we had the scare with DD, and she had to wear the heart monitor and have everything checked out, it was really scary.

cleaning for DD's post dance party tomorrow...( turnabout, yes, with Art Guy )

I hope they have fun. My DD has a Winter Semi-formal tonight. She said that she thought they would be there for a hour or two and then go somewhere to eat. I said, "Let me get this straight? You're getting this dressed up (not to mention the money she spent on new stuff and DFi had to spend  ), and you're not even planning on being there all evening?" :confused3

By all means, don't feel terrible. You can only do what you can do. I know it's hard to be sandwiched between the two generations. You never know, her second choice may turn out to work out for the best.

Now, I may not be a drinker, but this sounds awful. :rotfl2: Chocolate wine????

I'm a pretty big Silpada fan. That's my other "clique" - it's some women from work and several of them sell the stuff. We get together for jewelry parties and wine tastings (at the same time!!) every couple months. I own probably 2 sets of earrings, 2 necklaces, a ring, and a bracelet. I just bought a garnet necklace and matching earrings and LOVE them. Bought DD a freshwater pearl bracelet (actually a set of 7 bracelets with elasticized banding) for Christmas and she LOVED them. Not a heck of a lot of the stuff, but I'm just getting started.

Let me know about that wine when you hear. I'm always looking for something new!! Thanks.

I'm posting 2x's! :cool1:

DD is still hoping on Ringling, she won't know until March if she has made it into the Animatin program. Only 95 slots open, sooooo...and she and Art Guy are incompetition with one another as those 95 slots are shared between the Animation and Game Art majors. If she wanted to go for Illustration, she is in, but like your son, she is a bit shell shocked at the cost. She is realizing that owing 6 figures ( $40+ per year :scared:, and that's just Tuition and R&B...art supplies add another ton ) will limit her future choices such as where she can accept a job based on cost of living, if she will qualify for a car loan, if she can afford food! She has applied across the board, from art schools to state university to local Jr College...so that her choices wil not be limited.
Well, it will all be figured out one way or another and a positive aspect of the art world is that age is not really a factor...there are some peolpe entering Ringling in their 30's-40's....and yes, you are a Freshman!

Animal Whisperer came to my mind:cutie:

:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Wouldn't you know, I took an early lunch to go home and let the horses out of the barn (went home at 11). We had them up last night because it was so cold, and I wanted to wait until late morning to let them out to give it time to get at least a little bit warmer. Now, the last hour or so, bad weather has moved into the area (sleet/snow/ice), and my horses are out.

DD just called to and said she was coming home. She's going to have to miss her dance tonight (new dress and all :guilty: ). She wanted to get out before the worst hit and didn't want DFi driving that way. We just got word that they're turning our schools out in a few minutes.

With the Almond champagne it had the nuance of a Almond Joy candy bar, but not so sweet and the flavors were very subtle. I am not a huge chocolate fan, but I actually kinda liked it. I preferred the Almond champagne by itself tho.
