Good morning, ladies. Popping in for a quick minute.

Well, after trying my best for about 2 hours, no luck with the World Series tickets. I'll just have to watch the Rockies beat the Sox from the comfort of my family room!!! :woohoo:

Glad that everything is :thumbsup2 with the teachers. DS is not a teacher lover, I have to say. He does his work and does well most of the time, but I think that since he got his acceptance to CU, he's not emotionally invested in teacher pleasing. Will have to "lean" on him for the rest of the year to make sure he's putting in the effort. He knows that if he doesn't, there will be h*** to pay!!

Gotta get back to work. I have a swimming lesson today at 4:30. It went very well last week, so I'm looking forward to this one today.

See ya!! :goodvibes
Sorry you were unable to get tickets, that would be such an experience. Are you going to keep trying?

Now, if you really want to see the cheering that goes with a win, you might want to come to my family room:rolleyes1 ;)

My DS either loves his teachers or can't stand them and is a PITA, those darn smart kids......This reminds me of 8th grade when all we hoped for was getting him out of the middle school and into the high school,:headache: it is almost like they outgrow their surroundings, are bored and know there is something better around the corner. They just don't have the patience to wait it out, do what is expected and get there when they get there.

Hope you continue to enjoy the swimming lessons - won't be long, you will be trying out for the synchronized swim team:cheer2:

Our raccoons were back last night. We sat and watched them for awhile, they sure are fascinating to watch, especially the way they use their hands. Tonight we are going to put out a bowl of water with the cat food. DD has never seen the way they wash their food.

Well, we are ready for the football dinner - the crock pots are lined up, turned to low and filled with meat, chili and nacho cheese sauce. The shredded cheese, butter, sour cream and bacon bits are all in bowls and ready to go.

The oven has 60 foil wrapped potatos roasting away and DS is headed home during his off campus class to ice the drinks. The house is picked up, the yard is clean and there is a stack of wood for a bon fire tonight. (The neighbors are gonna love it:rolleyes: ) oh and the best part - there are 60 ice cream sandwiches in the freezer:love:

Last night I layed a beach towel on the kitchen counter. I scrubbed the potato(the big huge mongo Costco 1# ea type) set it on the towel and rolled it to DD who had a fondue fork. DD stabbed a couple of holes into the now dryed potato and rolled it to her brother who wrapped it in a foil sheet and placed onto the oven rack. We make a great team :cheer2: 60#'s potatos washed, stabbed and wrapped in about 15 minutes.

Have a great day ladies..............

No more tickets available. They sold all of them in about 2 hours. :sad2:

May the better team win tonight . . . Rockies!!!!!

I think sycronized swimming is definitely NOT in my future!!!

I think you're right - DS is very ready for college. He looks forward to each new step, but isn't so thrilled with what's in front of him now. Although he surprised me by telling me that he's taking Introduction to Aerospace Engineering/Aerospace Math next semester. I didn't think he LIKED any math all that much! :confused3

Wow, it sounds like you're all ready for the football team invasion later today. Talk about organization. If you're ever drafted into the military, you have a promising career in logistics!!!! :lmao:

I hope it all goes well later today, but I hope you're not too sad about the World Series game tonight. ;) (I'm hoping the Rockies are at least respectable in Beantown.)

Good for him! I sounds like he's interested in something new and different. :thumbsup2

::yes::

BTW, can I come eat too? That sounds really good! :hyper:

Good luck to your respective teams! :cheer2:

Yes . . . really surprised me, though. I thought he'd take something like Underwater Basket Weaving - some sort of easy elective for his last semester!!! :)

Me too. That way I wouldn't have to cook dinner!!! :thumbsup2

Good luck to your respective teams! :cheer2:
Thanks. I'm already getting nervous. :scared1:

Okay - so lets clear this up ;) I myself am not a huge Pro Baseball fan. I am not biting my nails over the upcoming series (unlike some people we know:rolleyes: ) I of course will root for the Sox out of loyalty to my boys and would be disappointed if they lost, just not devastated.

I enjoy good healthy teasing and ribbing however, but I promise that no matter the outcome Sandy is still invited to come for drinks! (Just don't wear purple:rotfl: )

Aerospace - wow! Good to expand ones horizons and see what is out there. You know I never did well at math which is why I am in Accounting.............Accounting is a lot of theory not math per say - maybe there are areas of the Aerospace course that he is curious about and wants to explore.

And yes Sandy - I actually love logistics, especially in a manufacturing environment. It is my first love and I am really good at it, the career path took a jog about 12 years ago and just didn't quite go that way. One of these days, I would like to get back into it.

Deal. As long as you're cooking and the drinks are flowing, I'll wear something OTHER than purple (well, I may bring along a purple sweater just in case, but I promise to TRY and refrain from being too obnoxious.)

CU's Aerospace Engineering program is one of the best in the country. We spend more on NASA funding than any other university. I don't know if he's thinking about that . . . or if there's some cute girl who's going to take the class next semester!!! :rotfl:

Sounds like a good story. Just like my FBI Special Agent one, that I need to tell you ladies someday, when work finally slows down a bit.

I'll be listening!

Personally, I would have loved to have been an astronaut, so I really appreciate your son's interest in the new class (although it probably really may be a toss up between the interest and a cute girl! :rotfl2: ).

One never knows . . . :)

When DS was a toddler, we got into one of those "How would you feel if DS or DD turned out to be gay?" discussions. I think DH was a little uncomfortable at the thought, so he was MUCH relieved when it turned out that DS (and DD) are very much heterosexual. ;)

Now just imagine how those types of conversations go over in my house:rotfl2: There is actually a really, really long history of homosexuality on my Dad's side of the family (yeah, I know......go figure)my Great Aunt lived with her lover from college. My great aunt died 20 years ago and she and her lover had been together for 50+ years. when my Grandmother died about 6 years ago, we learned that when we all thought she was going to her HS reunions in Massachusettes (every year) that she was actually visiting her lover from college. This is all on my Dad's side, oh yeah Dad's brother is gay and thinks Dad is weird! My Dad is from New England, long history of strong Ivy League Educated women and weak Ivy League Educated men!
Then my Mother has severe schizophrenia.
One of my cousins (mom's side)was featured on America's Most Wanted a few years back.
My DS was sitting on the floor jokingly moanin:
"My cousin is a serial killer"
"My grandmother is nuts"
I was standing near by and threw in
"and your Grandfather is a girl" :lmao: :rotfl:

When I was little I wanted to be either a Veterinarian or an airplane pilot.

Horseshowmom: Astronaut......that would be a really great job! You're a teacher, sign up for one of the shuttle programs! We could be the first Dis'rs to Dis to the space station

Yeah, somehow I figured YOUR family discussions in this area are a little more stimulating than ours. Any homosexuals in our respective families are of the "in the closet" variety! :rotfl:

I wanted to be a news broadcaster, like Barbara Walters. :snooty:

DH wishes they would have stayed in their closets he would much prefer to not be informed.:lmao: Me, I don't care.....I am of the "whatever" opinion myself.

So, you wanted to be a woman in charge!

Have a good time at your swim lessons - I have crock pots to go stir and potatos to check on.......

Congratulations to the Red Sox. Rockies better get their you-know-what together or we're in big trouble. Turned the game off a little over midway; couldn't stand to watch any more!!! :headache:

Not much going on around here. Don't know if I told you before, but we had 8-10 inches of snow on Sunday. Thankfully the weather has been in the 60s over the past couple of days, so much of it has melted.

Swimming lessons went well yesterday. I am doing so much better at sticking my face in the water. My next challenge is to work on improving my stroke. My right arm cooperates, but my left is still trying to figure this coordination thing out.

Well, back to work and licking my baseball wounds. Everyone have a good day!!

Good Morning Girls:

Sandy:hug: Hopefully the next game will at least be a little closer and more enjoyable to watch. Snow, yuck.....it hit 80 here yesterday so you should warm up soon.

Funny how the coordination gets so much worse as we get older. ;) Glad the lessons are going well and you are getting braver.

Horseshowmom: Did Boyfriend survive his field trip?

The dinner went really well, they darn near ate me out of house and home! No incidents of spillage until DH got home and dropped his plate of chili onto our (white berber) carpet:headache: He and the shop vac were bonding while I was picking up the rest of the debris. One nice thing about the berber, even tho we were really dumb in the color choice it cleans like a dream.

Tonight is BooHoo:sad1: Senior Night - we get to escort DS out onto the football field to be announced. I have all the cameras and people to use them ready to go. I am dreading it, but it is yet another milestone in his life. Also the big Valley Cup game is tonight and I always get nervous before a big game.

Still not packed and leaving early tomorrow morning with DS who isn't packed either. At this point I do this trip so often I am already packed in my head now to just throw it into a duffle bag. If all else fails, Portland does have Fred Meyers (like Target with a full service grocery) there is also WalMart and Target but the Freddys is a block from my Aunts house.

Hope you all have a great weekend, I will be back on Tuesday to check in.

After the shuttle blew up with the teacher on it, my DH asked me if I still would want to go up, and I told him that I would. He thought I was out of my mind! :rotfl: I seriously considered going into the Air Force to train as a pilot and trying to go from there into the space program. Sometimes I look back and wish I had, but my whole life would have changed, and I'm content where I am. Still....

So far, so good, but he won't be back until late Saturday night. I think they're keeping him busy. He's sharing a room with 4 boys (they have a suite with two beds and a couch). Don't you know that's a lot of fun! :lmao:

White carpet??? I can only imagine how that would work at my house. Never mind, I don't have to imagine. :sad2:

I'm glad it cleaned up well though! :thumbsup2

Because of y'all, I decided to watch some of the ballgame. We went to bed after the 5th inning. Like you, it was too sad to watch (and I don't know anything about either one of them). I sure hope the poor Rockies did better after we went to bed than they did before! :scared:

I love snow (not something we often see)!

Glad things are going so well with the swimming!

I actually called in sick this morning. My back has been giving me trouble, and I decided to stay home today. I called in and took the phone off the hook.

About 10 a.m., somebody was at my door to tell me that the Fixed Assets/Business Manager was trying to get in touch with me, and I needed to call her.

There was a very convoluted situation that had to be sorted out.

The problem had arisen because the original auditor had copied some corrected invoices that were attached to the back of a claim in a sealed envelope (for documentation purposes only).

The invoices from Dell had originally been billed incorrectly to the Vo-Tech. I had to make them change the invoice to be billed to the two high schools, because that's where the computers went. The Vo-Tech was not covered by the particular grant that I used to pay for them, so I couldn't just let it stay that way.

Because the auditors had both sets of invoices (correct - billed to two high schools and incorrect - billed to Vo-Tech), they were looking for twice as many computers as they were supposed to.

Shouldn't an auditor have been able to look at the invoices attached to the claim (that were for the correct amount) and figure out that we only paid for the 80 computers (not 160 from the combined invoices). I mean, it's not like Dell was going to send up 160 computers when we only paid for 80. Both sets of invoices had the same P.O. #, and it sure wasn't enough to cover 160 computers.

Not to mention that I had included a detailed memo as part of that claim that explained all of this in much greater detail than I have here. If they went through the claim, they should have seen it and known what was in the envelope. :headache: :headache: :headache:

That would have saved all the panic and confusion that resulted in me having to be dragged out of bed. GGGGRRRRR!!!!!

Feel better, Horseshowmom! Get back in bed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :goodvibes

I would have gotten it and not bothered you at all! People need to learn to think and to reason for themselves before they start bugging people.

I certainly hope you back is better and that you get to enjoy the rest of your mental/physical health day.

So, we are converting you into becomming a baseball fan:cool1: hummmm, :rolleyes1 you know Red, white and blue are soooo much prettier than purple!

Isn't it interesting how our lives take little twists and turns. When I was young and wanted to be a pilot I did not ever want kids and marriage was as far from my mind as it could be. I wanted independence and away from the loons that were my parents.

Then I got married at 21 and had DS at 23 - No regrets, just sometimes wonder "what if" but then again there are many years in the future to explore some of those "what if's"

BTW - I am not sure I would go into space, I only ride the "green" version of Mission Space and probably couldn't handle it:rolleyes:

Well, it's almost 3 p.m. here, so there's not a lot of it left, but I'm leaving early anyway. I told them that I was going to take off tomorrow instead and was told (as much as the girl hated to tell me) that I'd probably better plan on being here tomorrow, because the newly elected supt. (takes office in January) wants to meet with all central office staff tomorrow morning at 10:30. So much for taking off tomorrow... :sad2:

I was the same way. I didn't have any desire to have children. Honestly, that didn't really change until after we had an unexpected miscarriage. It was amazing how much that affected me and changed my point of view.

DD insists that she doesn't want to have children. I'm hoping she'll change her mind in the future, but it's entirely up to her and BF. They have discussed it, and he said that's fine with him, but you know how that goes...:rolleyes1 ;)

Good afternoon, ladies.

Hope that you both had good weekends. Melissa, hope your trip went well with minimal stress. Horseshowmom, hope that you are feeling better now.

DH is in trial, so we spent Sunday afternoon putting together exhibits (I am such a good wife!! ;) ). These clients are real whiners, so he'll be glad when this case is over.

DS had an interesting Saturday night. Was going to go to a movie with one girl, but since it was an "R" rated movie and she wasn't 17 yet, they couldn't get in. So they went to Starbucks and hung out for a few hours. When that was over, he called another girl, just to chat, and she invited him to a local haunted house with a bunch of kids. So he went out with that group and hung out with that girl!! My son, the playboy . . .

I am finally over my Rockies choking in the World Series. Very disappointing. But congratulations to the Red Sox.

Well, gotta get back to work. Just wanted to let you know I was thinking about you two (and you as well, Pam!!).
