Lest We Forget

I visited the Arizona in 2003 shortly before we invaded Iraq. I thought I would have mixed feelings about it since I was not in favor of sending troops to Iraq. I found the memorial very moving and cried for the men and women who were killed in that war and the ones who were to be killed in what would become the current war. I put flowers in the water in their memory and I bought a flag that had been flown over the memorial.

I remember visiting Pearl Harbor with my parents when I was 18. My brother was stationed there in the Navy. I thought it was going to be some stupid historic thing that my dad drug me to (he was a history teacher). I cried! So moving, even for a know it all teenage girl! God bless our military!

I saw that article too, Charade. One last reunion. How poignant.

I visited the USS Arizona Memorial in 1998. It truly is hallowed ground. And the oil, still slowly rising to the surface, drop by drop, all these years later, a silent symbol of those souls lost down below. . . .

Our world will be forever grateful for the sacrifices of our military . . .

Happy Birthday! Today is my DS's birthday - he is two. I had to have a scheduled csection and I chose this date because it was my great-grandmothers birthday (who was named Pearl - and she was born WAY before 1941). But even though it's a happy day in our family, we'll always remember the sad occurences of 1941.
